Abstract
The chemical reduction of organic or inorganic water contaminants is very important for both human health and pollution control. However, challenges still persist in preparing catalysts for chemical reduction, and there is a need for the development of inexpensive, easily synthesized, and effective catalyst systems. In this study, we have synthesized a new palladium nanocatalyst supported on the composite hydrogel beads composed of sodium carboxymethyl cellulose (Na-CMC) and graphitic carbon nitride (g-C3N4). The Pd@Na-CMC/g-C3N4 composite was fully characterized using FE-SEM, XRD, BET, EDS, TEM, and EDS mapping analysis, confirming its successful preparation at the nano-scale. Pd@Na-CMC/g-C3N4 was utilized to reduce various nitroaromatics such as 4-nitrophenol (4-NP), 2-nitrophenol (2-NA), 4-nitroaniline (4-NA), 4-nitro-o-phenylenediamine (4-NPDA), and organic dyes including methylene blue (MB), methyl orange (MO), Rhodamine B (RhB), as well as potassium hexacyanoferrate(III) (K3[Fe(CN)6]), which is the inorganic contaminant. While Pd@Na-CMC/g-C3N4 completely reduced nitroaromatics within 65-120 s at 1 × 10-4 M concentration, organic dyes within 0-60 s at 1 × 10-5 M concentration, and K3[Fe(CN)6] within 90 s at 0.002 M concentration in water at room temperature. Rate constant values (kapp) of 4-NP, 2-NA, 4-NA, 4-NPDA, MO, RhB, and K3[Fe(CN)6] were calculated to be 0.0085 s-1, 0.012 s-1, 0.016 s-1, 0.01 s-1, 0.013 s-1, 0.021 s-1, and 0.015 s-1, respectively. Additionally, the Pd@Na-CMC/g-C3N4 displayed high stability and even after four consecutive runs, it was able to reduce 4-NP and MO without any significant loss in its performance.

Abstract
The branched structures of dendronized polymers can provide good steric stabilization for metal nanoparticle catalysts. In this work, an amphiphilic dendronized copolymer containing hydrophilic branched triethylene glycol moieties and hydrophobic branched ferrocenyl moieties is designed and prepared by one-pot ring-opening metathesis polymerization, and is used as the stabilizer for metal (Au, Ag and Pd) nanoparticles. These metal nanoparticles (Au nanoparticles: 3.5 ± 3.0 nm; Ag nanoparticles: 7.2 ± 4.0 nm; Pd nanoparticles: 2.5 ± 1.0 nm) are found to be highly active in both the 4-nitrophenol reduction and Suzuki-Miyaura reactions. In the 4-nitrophenol reduction, Pd nanoparticles have the highest catalytic ability (TOF: 2060 h-1). In addition, Pd nanoparticles are also an efficient catalyst for Suzuki-Miyaura reactions (TOF: 1980 h-1) and possess good applicability for diverse substrates. The amphiphilic dendronized copolymer will open a new door for the development of efficient metal nanoparticle catalysts.

Abstract
Enhanced catalysis for organic transformation is essential for the synthesis of high-value compounds. Atomic metal species recently emerged as highly effective catalysts for organic reactions with high activity and metal utilization. However, developing efficient atomic catalysts is always an attractive and challenging topic in the modern chemical industry. In this work, we report the preparation and activity enhancement of nitrogen- and sulfur-codoped holey graphene (NSHG) with the anchoring of atomic metal Pd. When employed as the catalyst for nitroarenes reduction reactions, the resultant Pd/NSHG composite exhibits remarkably high catalytic activity due to the co-existence of dual-active components (i.e., catalytically active NSHG support and homogeneous dispersion of atomic metal Pd). In the catalytic 4-nitrophenol (4-NP) reduction reaction, the efficiency (turnover frequency) is 3.99 × 10-2 mmol 4-NP/(mg cat.·min), which is better than that of metal-free nitrogen-doped holey graphene (NHG) (2.3 × 10-3 mmol 4-NP/(mg cat.·min)) and NSHG carbocatalyst (3.8 × 10-3 mmol 4-NP/(mg cat.·min)), the conventional Pd/C and other reported metal-based catalysts. This work provides a rational design strategy for the atomic metal catalysts loaded on active doped graphene support. The resultant Pd/NSHG dual-active component catalyst (DACC) is also anticipated to bring great application potentials for a broad range of organic fields, such as organic synthesis, environment treatment, energy storage and conversion.

Abstract
The CuO-nanoleaf/g-Al2O3 catalyst was synthesized through wet chemical impregnation and had promising catalytic activity in reducing p-Nitrophenol (PNP) into p-Aminophenol (PAP). The synthesis was conducted in situ with Ethylene Glycol as a stabilizer agent of the CuO-nanoleaf structure and g-Al2O3 as catalyst support with high adsorption ability. Furthermore, the crystal phase, morphology, element composition, and specific surface area were investigated by X-Ray Diffraction (XRD), Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscopy (FESEM), and N2 adsorption-desorption, respectively. The XRD pattern showed the crystal phase of CuO and g-Al2O3 in the composite, and the morphology was successfully reported using FESEM. The increase in the specific surface area of the catalyst indicates that the CuO material was well composited in g-Al2O3. The catalyst has good activity in reducing PNP to PAP with 93.53% PNP conversion within 4 min. In addition, the reduction reaction of PNP with excess NaBH4 could be categorized as pseudo-first order kinetic with a constant rate of 0.6935 min−1 for CuO-nanoleaf/g-Al2O3 catalyst. The loading catalyst and temperature reaction effect on PNP conversion were also investigated. The results showed that 94.18% PNP conversion was obtained within only 2.5 min under the optimized conditions. Copyright © 2022 by Authors, Published by BCREC Group. Abstract
Nitrogen-containing contaminants, such as 4-nitrophenol (4-NP), cause detrimental effects when discharged into the environment and thus should be reduced or removed from ecosystems. In this study, an Ag-loaded TiO2-SiO2-Fe3O4 (TSF) with a core-shell structure was employed for the photo-assisted reduction of 4-NP. Fe3O4, SiO2, and TiO2 in the core-shell structure served as a magnetic center, protective layer, and light absorber, respectively. To improve the reduction activity of 4-NP, Ag was loaded onto TSF under stirring, with a variation of the temperature (2-130 °C) and reaction time (1, 2, and 4 h). Under the optimized conditions, 5Ag-TSF (with 5 wt% of Ag) could promote the reduction of aqueous 4-NP solution (2 × 10-4 M, 75 mL) in the presence of NaBH4 (0.1 M, 5 mL) under irradiation by a metal halide lamp, affording over 98% reduction within 5 min and a rate constant of 0.185 min-1, demonstrating its promising activity. Moreover, due to the advantages of the core-shell structure, the magnetic properties of Fe3O4 were sufficient to enable facile recycling of the sample for further reaction; SiO2 could protect the Fe3O4 center from oxidation or reduction; TiO2 enabled Ag accommodation and absorbed light to generate electron-hole pairs. In summary, an Ag-loaded TiO2-SiO2-Fe3O4 sphere with high activity and recyclability for 4-NP reduction was prepared via a facile and simple stirring method, where the sample can be used as a promising material in environmental remediation.

Abstract
A catalytic membrane nanoreactor (CMNR) with Cu-Agx (where x is the millimolar concentration of AgNO3) bimetallic catalysts immobilized in membrane pores has been fabricated via coupling flowing synthesis and replacement reaction. Surface characterization by transmission electron microscopy (TEM) gives obvious evidence of the formation of Cu-Ag bimetallic core-shell nanostructures with Ag islands deposited on the Cu core metal. An apparent high shift phenomenon for the Cu element and a low shift phenomenon for the Ag element was determined by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), indicating a close interaction with the transfer of electron density from the Cu atom to the Ag atom. The hydrogenation catalysis of p-nitrophenol (p-NP) was tested to evaluate the catalytic performance. During the catalytic process, the Cu core acts as an electron-deficient site to adsorb and activate the -NO2 group for p-NP, and the Ag shell is beneficial for enhancing active H spilling to the Cu surface and then performing hydrogenation. A volcano-shaped apparent reaction rate constant can be achieved, which rises initially with the increasing Ag content and subsequently drops with a further increase in the Ag content. The highest value of 1071 min-1 can be achieved for CMNR immobilized with Cu-Ag2 owing to the suitable adsorption activation behavior and the best hydrogen spillover behavior.

Abstract
The use of functional biodegradable wastes to treat environmental problems would create minimal extra burden to our environment. In this paper, we propose a sustainable and practical strategy to turn spent coffee ground (SCG) into a multifunctional palladium-loaded catalyst for water treatment instead of going into landfill as solid waste. Bleached delignified coffee ground (D-SCG) has a porous structure and a good capability to reduce Pd (II) to Pd (0). A large amount of nanocellulose is formed on the surface of SCG after bleaching by H2O2, which anchors and disperses the palladium nanoparticles (Pd NPs). The D-SCG loaded with Pd NPs (Pd-D-SCG) is superhydrophilic, which facilitates water transport and thus promotes efficient removal of organic pollutants dissolved in water. Pd-D-SCG exhibits excellent room temperature catalytic activity for the removal of 4-nitrophenol (4-NP) and methylene blue (MB) in water and shows good chemical stability and recyclability in water, with no obvious decrease even after five repeated cycles.

Abstract
Due to the good electrical, optical, magnetic, catalytic properties, transition metal nanoparticles (TMNPs) have been becoming more and more interesting in the fileds of environment, material, biomedicine, catalysis, and so on. Here, tannic acid (TA) is used as a green and efficient stabilizer to fabricate all kinds of TMNPs including AuNPs, AgNPs, CuNPs and PdNPs. These TMNPs possess small sizes ranging from 1 nm to 6 nm, which is conducive to several catalytic reactions in aqueous solution, such as 4-nitrophenol (4-NP) reduction, CuAAC reactions and Suzuki-Miyaura coupling reactions. AuNPs and PdNPs are found to have distinctly higher catalytic activities than AgNPs and CuNPs in the 4-NP reduction process. Especially, PdNPs show the highest catalytic activities with TOF up to 7200 h-1 in the 4-NP reduction. Furthermore, PdNPs also exhibit satisfying catalytic performance in the Suzuki-Miyaura coupling process, and CuNPs are catalytically active in the copper-catalyzed azide alkyne cycloaddition (CuAAC) reactions. The applicability and generality of PdNPs and CuNPs are respectively confirmed via the reaction between different substrates in the Suzuki-Miyaura coupling reactions and the CuAAC reactions. This work present a simple, fast, green and efficient strategy to synthesize TMNPs for multiple catalysis.
