Abstract
OBJECTIVE The purpose of the present study was to formulate a menantine hydrochloride (MH) sustained-release suspension. METHODS Menantine hydrochloride drug resin complex (MH-DRC) was prepared with strong acid cation exchange resin as carrier using water bath method. The MH-DRC was characterized using scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction and infrared spectroscopy. The MH-coated microcapsule (MH-CM) with optimized formulation was further dispersed in a suitable medium to obtain a sustained-release suspension. The rats were given both the MH sustained-release suspension and the commercial MH sustained-release capsule by intragastric administration. The plasma concentration-time curves and related pharmacokinetic parameters were also investigated using a non-atrioventricular model. RESULTS MH and ion-exchange resin were ionically bonded. AmberliteIRP®69 had a higher affinity for MH at the initial concentration of 5 mg·mL-1 and a reaction temperature of 25.0 ± 0.5 °C. In vitro drug release profile showed that both the drug resin complex and the coated microcapsules had a certain level of sustained-release effect. The t1/2 of MH sustained-release suspension was extended from 68.44 h to 72.79 h with the peak blood concentration being decreased to 3.56 μg·mL-1 and the Tmax extended to 12 h compared with the commercial MH sustained-release capsule. The concentration-time curve of the self-made MH sustained-release suspension was flattened and the average relative bioavailability (Fr) was 116.65% compared with the commercial MH sustained-release capsules. CONCLUSIONS The findings showed that the MH sustained-release suspension was successfully formulated with acceptable pharmacokinetic indices for effective treatment of Alzheimer's disease.

Abstract
The analysis of plant growth regulators presents a challenge due to their trace quantities and complex matrices. A novel, simple, and effective analytical method for the determination of three trace acidic plant growth regulators in Anoectochilus roxburghii (Wall.) Lindl was developed to address this issue. Three-phase hollow fiber liquid-phase microextraction combined with high-performance liquid chromatography was applied for the enrichment, purification, and determination of three acidic plant growth regulators, namely, indole-3-acetic-acid, indole-3-butyric-acid, and (+)-abscisic acid. The factors affecting extraction performance, including extractant species, pH of donor and acceptor phases, salt addition dosage, extraction time, temperature, and stirring rate, were investigated and optimized. Under optimum conditions, the proposed method provided good linearity (R2 , 0.9994-0.9999), low limit of detection (0.038-0.12 ng/mL), and acceptable relative recoveries (56.7-117.6%). The enrichment factors were between 153 and 328. The developed method was successfully applied to the enrichment and determination of plant growth regulators in Anoectochilus roxburghii (Wall.) Lindl and exhibited increased purification capacity, higher sensitivity, and decreased organic solvent consumption compared with conventional sample preparation methods. This method may provide a testing platform for the monitoring of plant growth regulator residues, ensuring the safe and effective use of traditional Chinese medicine.

Abstract
In the present study, a rapid derivatization liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) method was developed and validated to evaluate phenylephrine in human plasma. The plasma samples were processed to precipitate the proteins, followed by derivatization of the phenylephrine in the plasma with dansyl-chloride solution and extraction with methyl tert-butyl ether-n-hexane (2:1, v/v). The treated samples were analyzed on a Gemini C18 column with 3 min gradient elution, and sensitive detection was achieved with a Waters TQ-s. The method gave linear results over a concentration range from 0.020 to 10.0 ng/ml. The lower limit of quantification was 0.020 ng/ml. Intra- and inter-day precision was <15%, and accuracy was 95.0-105.3%. The validated LC-MS/MS method was successfully applied in the pharmacokinetic analysis of phenylephrine in Chinese subjects with common cold after a single-dose administration of 5, 10 or 20 mg phenylephrine. This pre-column derivatization method may also be applied for the analysis of endogenous hormones such as norepinephrine and adrenaline in a biological matrix.

Hollow-fiber renewal liquid membrane extraction coupled with 96-well plate system as innovative high-throughput configuration for the determination of endocrine disrupting compounds by high-performance liquid chromatography-fluorescence and diode array detection. Anal Chim Acta 2018; 1040:33-40. Abstract
This paper describes a new configuration of the hollow fiber renewal liquid membrane (HFRLM) procedure for the high-throughput determination of the endocrine disrupting compounds 4-nonylphenol, 4-octylphenol, 4-tert-octylphenol, methylparaben, ethylparaben and bisphenol A using a 96-well plate system and high-performance liquid chromatography. In this configuration, cylindrical blades were adapted as a support for polypropylene membranes used as supported liquid membranes in the HFRLM approach. The proposed configuration exhibited important advantages including high-throughput, low solvent and sample consumption, and good analytical performance. The optimized extraction conditions were achieved with the use of a mixture comprised of 50:50 v/v 1-octanol:hexane as the supported liquid membrane, sample pH 5, extraction solvent 15 μL (hexane) and extraction time 45 min. The limits of quantification varied from 0.5 μg L-1 for 4-octylphenol to 15 μg L-1 for methylparaben and ethylparaben and the r2 ranged from 0.9908 for methylparaben to 0.9992 for 4-tert-octylphenol. HFRLM combined with the use of a 96-well plate provides an environmentally-friendly configuration. It offers good accuracy when applied to analyze water samples, with relative recoveries ranging from 72 to 130%, for 4-octylphenol and 4-nonylphenol, respectively, and precision varying from 1 to 14.3%, for 4-nonylphenol at 1.0 μg L-1 and bisphenol A at 8.0 μg L-1, respectively.

Abstract
A low-cost methodology using hollow fiber liquid-phase microextraction (HF-LPME) and capillary zone electrophoresis (CZE) with UV-Vis detector was developed to analyze the salicylic acid (SA) in estuarine and riverine waters. The technique is easy-to-use and rapid, and demands little volume of organic solvent. The extraction was carried out using a polypropylene membrane supporting into octan-1-ol. HF-LPME under optimized conditions (donor solution sample pH 2, acceptor solution pH 14, sample volume 25 mL, fiber length 10 cm, acceptor volume 25 μL, extraction time 3 h and stirring speed 350 rpm) presented high enrichment factor (407 times) and good recovery in real water samples (from 88 to 110%). A limit of detection of 2.6 μg L-1 was achieved using CZE with UV-Vis detector as quantification method. The method was applied to direct quantification of SA in environmental complex estuarine and riverine water matrices.
