Abstract
Dimethyl disulfide (DMDS) is an important fine chemical that can be prepared by the refined Merox process of oxidation of sodium methyl mercaptide (SMM) in the presence of a catalyst. In this paper, a novel activated carbon (AC) supported cobalt(II) tetraaminophthalocyanine (AC-CoTAPc) catalyst was prepared by the chemical grafting method. EA, UV-vis, FT-IR, BET and XPS were used to characterize the structure of the new catalyst. The effects of reaction time, catalyst dosage, reaction temperature and oxygen pressure on SMM conversion per pass (CPP[Formula: see text], yield (Yield[Formula: see text] and purity of DMDS product (Purity[Formula: see text] were investigated to evaluate the catalytic performance of new AC-CoTAPc catalyst. The results show that free CoTAPc is easily dissolved in this DMDS product, which needs extra post treatment and cannot be reused. The supported catalyst AC-CoTAPc can easily solve these problems and can be properly reused four times to get Yield[Formula: see text] and CPP[Formula: see text] higher than 70% and 90%. Under optimum conditions, the Yield[Formula: see text] andCPP[Formula: see text] of the AC-CoTAPc catalyst could be as high as 87.4% and 98.1%, with a purity[Formula: see text]of DMDS product of above 99.9%. AC-CoTAPc exhibits better catalytic and reuse performance than the commercial AC-supported sulphonated cobalt(II) phthalocyanine (AC-CoPcS) catalyst and shows broad industrial application prospects.

Preparation and lower critical solution temperature behavior investigation of new thermoresponsive poly( N-isopropylacrylamide-co-phthalocyanine) magnetic nanocomposites containing phthalocyanine-coated Fe 3O 4 hybrid. Abstract
New thermoresponsive poly(N-isopropyl acrylamide-co-phthalocyanine) magnetic nanocomposites were prepared by in situ dispersion polymerization. 4-Nitrophthalic acid and CoCl2 were employed to synthesize tetranitrophthalocyanine and then it was converted to tetraaminophthalocyanine by sodium sulfide. The cobalt tetra(N-carbonylacrylic)aminophthalocyanine monomer was obtained by reaction of tetraaminophthalocyanine with maleic anhydrid. N-isopropylacrylamide as the main monomers, N,N′-methylenebisacrylamide as the cross-linker, poly(N-vinylpyrrolidone) as the steric stabilizer, potassium persulfate as the initiator, and new Fe-phthalocyanine oligomer/Fe3O4 nanohybrid particles (FePc/Fe3O4) as nanoparticles were used. The magnetite nanocomposites were characterized by Fourier-transform infrared spectrum, X-ray diffraction spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy, thermogravimetric analysis, vibrating sample magnetometer, and differential scanning calorimetry. The results showed that the lower critical solution temperatures of the hydrogel nanocomposits were influenced by the content of FePc/Fe3O4 hybrid nanoparticles. The lower critical solution temperatures of the magnetic hydrogel nanocomposites F3 and F4 were at about 34 and 40 °C. The results show that the increase of FePc/Fe3O4 nanoparticle content caused the LCSTs of the hydrogels to increase. FePc/Fe3O4 nanoparticles were prepared from 4,4′-isopropyliden-bis-dioxydiphthalonitrile and FeCl3·6H2O via the solvothermal route. The sizes of nanoparticles were determined by scanning electron microscopy. They are spherical in shape and the average size of them is between 30 and 70 nm.

Abstract
We report on the binding of metal ions (Me(2+); Co(2+) and Cu(2+)) with weak polyelectrolyte multilayers (PEMs), as well as on catalytic activity of PEM-Me(2+) films for oxidation of toluene. Using several types of PEM films constructed using branched polyethyleneimine (BPEI) or quaterinized poly-4-vinylpyridines (QPVPs) as polycations and poly(acrylic acid) (PAA) or poly(styrene sulfonate) (PSS) as polyanions, we found that binding of Co(2+) and Cu(2+) ions with a PEM matrix can occur both through coordination to polycationic amino groups and/or ionic binding to polyacid groups. The amount of metal ions loaded within the film increased linearly with film thickness and was strongly dependent on polyelectrolyte type, film assembly pH, and fraction of permanent charge in polymer chains. Among various PEM-Me(2+) systems, BPEI/PAA-Co(2+) films assembled at pH 8.5 show the best catalytic performance, probably because of the preservation of high mobility of Co(2+) ions coordinated to amino groups of BPEI in these films. With BPEI/PAA-Co(2+) films, we demonstrated that films were highly permeable to reagents and reaction products within hundreds of nanometers of the film bulk; i.e., film catalytic activity increased linearly with layer number up to 30 bilayers and slowed for thicker films.
