Abstract
A low-cost solid amine adsorbent for CO2 capture was prepared by using sugarcane bagasse (SB), a dominant agro-industrial residue in the sugar and alcohol industry as raw materials. In this preparation process, acrylamide was grafted on SB, and the grafted fiber was then aminated with different type of amine reagents to introduce primary and secondary amine groups onto the surface of SB fibers. The graft and amination conditions were optimized. The prepared solid amine adsorbent showed remarkable CO2 adsorption capacity and the adsorption capacity of the solid amine adsorbent could reach 5.01 mmol CO2/g at room temperature. The comparison of adsorption capacities of amine fibers aminated with various amination agents demonstrated that fibers aminated with triethylenetetramine would obtain higher adsorption capacities and higher amine efficiency. These adsorbents also showed good regeneration performance, the regenerated adsorbent could maintain almost the same adsorption capacity for CO2 after 10 recycles.

Abstract
The number of ion exchange fibers in development has increased over the last several years. However, few studies have reported the use ion-exchange fibers in drug delivery system. In this study polystyrene nanofiber ion exchangers (PSNIE) were fabricated by electrospinning techniques, crosslinking and sulfonation. The degree of crosslinking and the ion exchange capacity (IEC) were determined. The morphology and diameter of the nanofiber mats were analyzed using scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Five cationic model drugs (dextromethorphan, chlorpheniramine, diphenhydramine, propranolol and salbutamol) were loaded into PSNIE. The loading capacity, release and release kinetics of the exchangers were investigated. PSNIE were successfully prepared by electrospinning and were allowed to crosslink for 10 min, resulting in a maximum IEC of 2.86±0.1 meq/g dry PSNIE. The diameter of the fibers after sulfonation was 464±35 nm. Dextromethorphan provided the highest loading in PSNIE while diphenhydramine gave the highest percentage release in both simulated gastric and intestinal fluid (SGF and SIF). The release kinetics of all drugs in SGF and SIF provided the best fit with the particle diffusion model. Our results showed that the development of a PSNIE-based drug delivery system was successful, and PSNIE were able to control drug release.

Abstract
A fibrous strong base anion exchanger (QAPPS) was prepared for the first time via chloromethylation and quaternary amination reaction of polyphenylene sulfide fiber (PPS), and its physical-chemical structure and adsorption behavior for Cr(VI) were characterized by FTIR, Energy Dispersive Spectrometry, TG-DTG, elemental analysis and batch adsorptive technique, respectively. The novel fibrous adsorbent could effectively adsorb Cr(VI) over the pH range 1-12, the maximum adsorption capacity was 166.39 mg/g at pH 3.5, and the adsorption behavior could be described well by Langmuir isotherm equation model. The adsorption kinetics was studied using pseudo first-order and pseudo second-order models, and the t1/2 and equilibrium adsorption time were 5 and 20 min respectively when initial Cr(VI) concentration was 100 mg/L. The saturated fibers could be regenerated rapidly by a mixed solution of 0.5 mol/L NaOH and 0.5 mol/L NaCl, and the adsorption capacity was well maintained after six adsorption-desorption cycles.

Abstract
A novel Cu(2+)-imprinted fiber (IIF) was prepared by grafting acrylic acid (AA) onto the surface of a polypropylene (PP) fiber and subsequently modified with polyethylenimine (PEI). An examination by infrared spectroscopy and scanning electron microscopy confirmed that the ion-imprinted polymer was successfully introduced onto the surface of a PP fiber. The modification of PP fibers with AA was beneficial to the grafting of PEI onto the fibers. The highest grafting degree of PEI could reach 120 wt % under optimal grafting conditions. This IIF showed excellent tensile and chemical stability in acid solution, which qualified the IIF for practical applications. Besides having a high adsorption capacity for Cu(2+) (120 mg/g), the IIF adsorbent showed a high selectivity for Cu(2+) as compared with that of the non-ion-imprinted fiber (NIF). The dynamic adsorption results indicated that IIF can thoroughly remove Cu(2+) from the solution in a relatively short contact time. The effective treatment volume was about 910 bed volumes. The selectivity coefficient of IIF for Cu(2+) with respect to Zn(2+) could reach 76.4. IIF also has good regeneration performance and could maintain almost the same adsorption capacity for copper ions after 10 adsorption-desorption cycles.

Abstract
The purpose of this paper was to evaluate the capacity of anion ion exchange fiber to uptake the heavy metal(Co2+、Cu2+、Zn2+、Cd2+、Pb2+、Ag+) from the water. A new polyamine-type ion exchange fiber(IEF) based on polyacrylonitrile (PAN) with higher exchange capacities was prepared by crosslinking through hydrazine hydrate, followed reacting with diethylene triamine. FT-IR analysis indicated that amine, imido, acylamino and carboxyl groups were introduced into PAN fiber through the surface modified reaction of cross linking and amination. The structures of the IEF were characterized by means of SEM. The results showed that the surface of fiber became rougher and thicker and more heterogeneous. The static and dynamic adsorption experiments demonstrated the high selective adsorption property of the IEF for Ag+ and Cu2+. Furthermore, the adsorption mechanism for the metal ions with IEF was investigated with the FT-IR spectra studies.
