Abstract
Herein, the study introduces a novel bifunctional In2S3/MgTiO3/TiO2@N-CNT (IMTNC) nanocomposite, which is poised to revolutionize the detection and removal of clothianidin (CLD) from aquatic environments by synergistic adsorption and photodegradation. Confirmation of the material's synthesis was done using structural, optical, morphological, and chemical characterizations. An outstanding sensitivity of 2.168 μA/nM.cm2 with a linear range of 4-100 nM and a LOD of 0.04 nM, along with an exceptional elimination efficiency of 98.06 ± 0.84% for about 10 ppm CLD within 18 min was demonstrated by the IMTNC nanocomposite. Extensive studies were carried out to appraise the material's effectiveness in the presence of various interfering species, such as cations, anions, organic compounds, and different water matrices, and a comprehensive assessment of its stability throughout several cycles was made. Response Surface Methodology (RSM) study was used to determine the ideal removal conditions for improved performance. In addition, the catalytic performance in removing various other pollutants was also analyzed. Adding In2S3 and developing N-doped Carbon Nanotubes (N-CNT) increased conductivity and higher electrochemical sensing skills, improving charge transfer and increasing photocatalytic activity. This research underscores the potential of the IMTNC nanocomposite as a promising candidate for advanced environmental sensing and remediation applications.

Abstract
Currently, novel photocatalysts have attracted increasing attention to effectively utilizing abundant solar energy to meet the energy demands of humans and mitigate environmental burdens. In this work, we developed a novel and highly efficient photocatalyst consisting of In2S3 doped with two elements (Ag and Zn) and decorated with reduced graphene oxide (rGO) sheets. The crystal structure, morphology, electrical properties, and optical properties of the prepared materials were studied using various analytical techniques, and their photocatalytic activity was thoroughly investigated. It was confirmed that within 10 min, over 97% decomposition of organic dyes was achieved by using Ag-Zn co-doped In2S3/rGO catalyst, while only 50 and 60% decompositions were achieved by conventional pure In2S3 and In2S3/rGO nanocomposite, respectively. Its photoelectrochemical (PEC) water-splitting performance was also significantly improved (∼120%) compared with pure In2S3 nanoparticles. This study provides a new vision of using Ag-Zn:In2S3 decorated on rGO sheets as an efficient photocatalyst under solar light irradiation for environmental remediation and hydrogen production.

Abstract
Here, we present the potential analytical applications of photochemistry in combination with fluorescence fingerprinting. Our approach analyzes the fluorescence of samples after ultraviolet light (UV) treatment. Especially in presence of metal ions and thiol-containing compounds, the fluorescence behavior changes considerably. The UV-induced reactions (changes) are unique to a given sample composition, resulting in distinct patterns or fingerprints (typically in the 230-600 nm spectral region). This method works without the need for additional chemicals or fluorescent probes, only suitable diluent must be used. The proposed method (UV fingerprinting) suggests the option of recognizing various types of pharmaceuticals, beverages (juices and wines), and other samples within only a few minutes. In some studied samples (e.g. pharmaceuticals), significant changes in fluorescence characteristics (mainly fluorescence intensity) were observed. We believe that the fingerprinting technique can provide an innovative solution for analytical detection.

Abstract
Considerable efforts have been made to develop effective and sustainable catalysts, e.g., carbon-/biochar-based catalyst, for the decontamination of organic pollutants in water/wastewater. Most of the published studies evaluated the catalytic performance mainly upon degradation efficiency of parent compounds; however, comprehensive and field-relevant performance assessment is still in need. This review critically analysed the performance indicators for carbon-/biochar-based catalytic degradation from the perspectives of: (1) degradation of parent compounds, i.e., concentrations, kinetics, reactive oxidative species (ROS) analysis, and residual oxidant concentration; (2) formation of intermediates and by-products, i.e., intermediates analysis, evolution of inorganic ions, and total organic carbon (TOC); and (3) impact assessment of treated samples, i.e., toxicity evolution, disinfection effect, and biodegradability test. Five most frequently detected pharmaceuticals and personal care products (PPCPs) (sulfamethoxazole, carbamazepine, ibuprofen, diclofenac, and acetaminophen) were selected as a case study to articulate the performance indicators for a holistic evaluation of carbon-/biochar-based catalytic degradation. This review also encourages the development of alternative performance indicators to facilitate the rational design of catalysts in future studies.

Abstract
A Z-scheme system In2S3/WO3 heterojunction was fabricated via a mild hydrothermal method and further applied for photocatalytic degradation of tetracycline (TCH) and Rhodamine B (Rh B) under visible light irradiation. The morphological structure, chemical composition and optical properties were studied by XRD, SEM, HRTEM and UV-visible absorption spectra. The results revealed that In2S3/WO3 hierarchical structures were successfully constructed, and the prepared In2S3/WO3 photocatalysts exhibited enhanced visible-light absorption compared to pure WO3 nanorods, which are essential to improve the photocatalytic performance. The degradation rate of TCH using the In2S3(40 wt%)/WO3 heterostructure (WI40) photocatalyst was about 212 times and 22 times as high as that for pure WO3 and pure In2S3, respectively. The degradation rate of Rh B with the WI40 photocatalyst was about 56 times the efficiency of pure WO3 and 7.6 times that of pure In2S3. The results of the surface photovoltage (SPV), transient photovoltage (TPV) and reactive oxidation species (ROS) scavenger experiments indicated that the Z-scheme system of In2S3/WO3 is favorable for photoexcited charge transfer at the contact interface of In2S3 and WO3, which benefits the charge separation efficiency and depresses the recombination of photoexcited charge, resulting in favorable photocatalytic pollutant degradation efficiency under visible light irradiation. A Z-scheme system In2S3/WO3 heterojunction was fabricated via a mild hydrothermal method and further applied for photocatalytic degradation of tetracycline (TCH) and Rhodamine B (Rh B) under visible light irradiation.![]()

Abstract
Lately, heterogeneous semiconductor materials have been explored as an emerging type of efficient photocatalyst for photoredox organic synthesis. Among these semiconductors, lead halide perovskite materials demonstrate unique properties towards excellent charge separation and charge transfer, extremely long charge carrier migration, high efficiency in visible light absorption, and long excited states lifetimes, etc., as proved in ground-breaking solar cell applications, garnering necessary merits for an efficient catalytic system for photoredox organic reactions. Here, the latest progress in heterogeneous semiconductor materials towards this endeavor is examined, with particular emphasis on lead halide perovskite nanocrystals (NCs) in photocatalytic organic synthesis.

Abstract
The catalytic performances of the biomimetic metal oxides were tested in photo Fenton-like oxidation and catalytic wet air oxidation processes. Biomimetic copper oxide, iron oxide, and cobalt oxide catalysts were prepared by using pollen grains as biotemplate. The surface characteristics of the biomimetic metal oxides were characterized. SEM micrographs of the biomimetic catalysts demonstrated that pollen grains were successfully mimicked by metal oxide structures. The influences of UV light intensity, catalyst loading, and the initial hydrogen peroxide concentration on acetaminophen degradation were investigated in the photo Fenton-like oxidation process whereas the effects of reaction temperature and catalyst loading were investigated in catalytic wet air oxidation process. The biomimetic copper oxide was the most effective catalyst for the removal of acetaminophen in both of the advanced oxidation processes. The highest acetaminophen degradation efficiency was 86.9% in photo Fenton-like oxidation process when the initial acetaminophen concentration, catalyst loading, and the initial H2O2 concentrations were 10 mg/L, 0.1 g/L and 1 mM, respectively, at room temperature. In the catalytic wet air oxidation process, 98.3% degradation was achieved for the treatment of 100 mg/L acetaminophen solutions at 180 °C and 10 bar by using 1 g/L of catalyst loading at the same reaction time as photo Fenton-like oxidation. Mineralization analysis and the toxicity tests indicated that the biomimetic copper oxide catalysts were promising for the acetaminophen removal in catalytic wet air oxidation processes.

Abstract
Quantum dot (QD)-decorated semiconductor micro- and nanoparticles are a new class of functional nanomaterials that have attracted considerable interest for their unique structural, optical and electronic properties that result from the large surface-to-volume ratio and the quantum confinement effect. In addition, because of QDs' excellent light-harvesting capacity, unique photoinduced electron transfer, and up-conversion behaviour, semiconductor nanoparticles decorated with quantum dots have been used widely in photocatalytic applications for the degradation of organic pollutants in both the gas and aqueous phases. This review is a comprehensive overview of the recent progress in synthesis methods for quantum dots and quantum dot-decorated semiconductor composites with an emphasis on their composition, morphology and optical behaviour. Furthermore, various approaches used for the preparation of QD-based composites are discussed in detail with respect to visible and UV light-induced photoactivity. Finally, an outlook on future development is proposed with the goal of overcoming challenges and stimulating further research into this promising field.
