Abstract
Transition metal sulfides have become more and more important in the field of energy storage due to their superior chemical and physical properties. Herein, dahlia β-NiS with a rough surface and β-NiS@reduced graphene oxide (rGO) have been green synthesized by a one-step hydrothermal method. The interface characteristics of β-NiS@ rGO composites have been systematically studied by XPS, Raman, and first-principles calculations. It is found that the residual O atoms in the interface and the polarization charge generated by them play an important role in performance enhancement. The NiS@rGO composite material has the best electrochemical performance when the C/O ratio is 6.48. Furthermore, we designed a NiS@rGO//rGO asymmetric supercapacitor with a potential window of 1.7 V. Its excellent energy density and power density demonstrate the advantages of the optimized NiS@rGO electrode. When the power density is 850 W kg-1, the energy density can reach 40.4 W h kg-1. Even at a power density of up to 6800 W kg-1, the energy density can be maintained at 17.6 W h kg-1. These encouraging results provide a possible pathway for designing asymmetric supercapacitors with ultra-high performance and a feasible strategy for the precise control of electrochemical performance.

Abstract
Transition metal phosphides hold great promise for high performance battery-type electrode materials due to their superb electrical conductivity and high theoretical capacity. Unfortunately, the electrochemical properties of single metal or bimetallic phosphides are unsatisfactory owing to their low energy density and poor cyclic stability, and one feasible approach is to introduce heteroatoms to form trimetallic phosphides. Here, novel Fe-Co-Ni-P nanosheet arrays are in situ synthesized on a flexible carbon cloth substrate via an electrodeposition method followed by a phosphorization treatment. Due to the presence of abundant redox active sites, large specific surface area with mesoporous channels, desirable electrical conductivity, modified electronic structure, and synergistic effect of Fe, Co, and Ni ions, the as-prepared Fe-Co-Ni-P electrode displays significantly enhanced electrochemical performance when compared to bimetallic phosphides Fe-Co-P and Fe-Ni-P. Remarkably, the Fe-Co-Ni-P electrode exhibits a large specific capacity of 593.0 C g-1 at 1 A g-1, exceptional rate performance (80.3% capacity retention at 20 A g-1), and good cycling stability (84.2% capacity retention after 5000cycles). Besides, an asymmetric supercapacitor device with Fe-Co-Ni-P electrode as a positive electrode and a hierarchical porous carbon as a negative electrode shows a high energy density of 57.1 Wh kg-1 at a power density of 768.5 W kg-1 as well as excellent cyclability with 88.4% of initial capacity after 10,000cycles. This work manifests that the construction of trimetallic phosphides is an effective strategy to solve the shortcomings of single or bimetallic phosphides for high-performance supercapacitors.

Abstract
In the past decades, the energy consumption of nonrenewable fossil fuels has been increasing, which severely threatens human life. Thus, it is very urgent to develop renewable and reliable energy storage devices with features of environmental harmlessness and low cost. High power density, excellent cycle stability, and a fast charge/discharge process make supercapacitors a promising energy device. However, the energy density of supercapacitors is still less than that of ordinary batteries. As is known to all, the electrochemical performance of supercapacitors is largely dependent on electrode materials. In this review, we firstly introduced six typical transition metal oxides (TMOs) for supercapacitor electrodes, including RuO2, Co3O4, MnO2, ZnO, XCo2O4 (X = Mn, Cu, Ni), and AMoO4 (A = Co, Mn, Ni, Zn). Secondly, the problems of these TMOs in practical application are presented and the corresponding feasible solutions are clarified. Then, we summarize the latest developments of the six TMOs for supercapacitor electrodes. Finally, we discuss the developing trend of supercapacitors and give some recommendations for the future of supercapacitors.

Abstract
Electrode materials are very important for the performance of supercapacitors (SCs). Therefore, preparation of hybrid electrode materials is an effective way to develop high-performance SCs. We firstly design and prepare metal organic framework (MOF) derived carbon nanotubes as the core skeleton to support the shell of a nickel gallium layered hydroxide nanosheet (NiGa-LDH). MOF derived carbon nanomaterials have high conductivity and a large specific surface area, which can promote electron transfer and improve the agglomeration of LDH. The deposited LDH can provide high specific capacitance and the layered structure can further enhance the reaction site. The NiGa-LDH@CNT-500@CC has an excellent specific capacitance of 2580 F g-1 at 1 A g-1 and a high capacitance retention rate of 83.3% at 5 A g-1 due to the synergistic effect of two materials. The assembled NiGa-LDH@CNT-500@CC//carbon NS asymmetric supercapacitor (ASC) has an operating voltage of 1.6 V and a high energy density of 52 W h kg-1 at a power density of 952 W kg-1. Therefore, the core-shell structure composed of LDH and carbon nanomaterials provides an effective way for the design of high-performance electrodes.

Abstract
Ni(OH)2 derived from an MOF template was synthesized as an electrode material for supercapacitors. The electrochemical performance of the electrode was adjusted by effectively regulating the morphology of Ni(OH)2. The evolution of electrochemical performance of the electrode with morphology of Ni(OH)2 was highlighted in detail, based on which honeycomb-like Ni(OH)2 was successfully synthesized, and endowed the electrode with outstanding electrochemical performance. For the three-electrode testing system, honeycomb-like Ni(OH)2 exhibited a very high specific capacitance (1865 F·g-1 at 1 A·g-1, 1550 F·g-1 at 5 mV·s-1). Moreover, it also presented an excellent rate capability and cycling stability, due to 59.46 % of the initial value (1 A·g-1) being retained at 10 A·g-1, and 172% of initial value (first circle at 50 mV·s-1) being retained after 20,000 cycles. With respect to the assembled hybrid supercapacitor, honeycomb-like Ni(OH)2 also displayed superior electrochemical performance, with a high energy density (83.9 Wh·kg-1 at a power density of 374.8 W·kg-1). The outstanding electrochemical performance of Ni(OH)2 should be attributed to its unique honeycomb-like structure, with a very high specific surface area, which greatly accelerates the transformation and diffusion of active ions.
