Abstract
Minoxidil (MXD) is the only topical over-the-counter medicine approved by the United States Food and Drug Administration for the treatment of androgenetic alopecia. For the purpose of targeting the delivery of MXD to dermal papilla in the hair follicle, MXD Pickering emulsion gels were fabricated based on the designability of deep eutectic solvent (DES) and the versatility of cellulose nanocrystal (CNC) and sodium carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC-Na). Structural studies and theoretical calculations results suggest that CNC can stabilize the interface between the MXD-DES and water, leading to the formation of Pickering emulsions. The rheological properties and stabilities of MXD Pickering emulsions were enhanced through gelation using CMC-Na, which highlights the good compatibility and effectiveness of natural polysaccharides in emulsion gels. Due to the particle size of emulsion droplets (679 nm) and the rheological properties of emulsion gel, the fabricated MXD formulations show in vivo hair regrowth promotion and hair follicle targeting capabilities. Interestingly, the MXD Pickering emulsion-based formulations exert therapeutic effects by upregulating the expression of hair growth factors. The proposed nanodrug strategy based on supramolecular strategies of CNC and CMC-Na provides an interesting avenue for androgenetic alopecia treatment.

Abstract
Currently, curcumin-based co-delivery systems are receiving widespread attention. However, a systematic summary of the possibility of curcumin-based co-delivery systems used for the food industry from multiple directions based on the functional characteristics of curcumin is lacking. This review details the different forms of curcumin-based co-delivery systems including the single system of nanoparticle, liposome, double emulsion, and multiple systems composed of different hydrocolloids. The structural composition, stability, encapsulation efficiency, and protective effects of these forms are discussed comprehensively. The functional characteristics of curcumin-based co-delivery systems are summarized, involving biological activity (antimicrobial and antioxidant), pH-responsive discoloration, and bioaccessibility/bioavailability. Correspondingly, potential applications for food preservation, freshness detection, and functional foods are introduced. In the future, more novel co-delivery systems for active ingredients and food matrices should be developed. Besides, the synergistic mechanisms between active ingredients, delivery carrier/active ingredient, and external physical condition/active ingredient should be explored. In conclusion, curcumin-based co-delivery systems have the potential to be widely used in the food industry.

Abstract
The rational design and fabrication of edible codelivery carriers are important to develop functional foods fortified with a plurality of bioactive agents, which may produce synergistic effects in increasing bioactivity and functionality to target specific health benefits. Food proteins possess considerable functional attributes that make them suitable for the delivery of a single bioactive agent in a wide range of platforms. Among the different types of protein-based carriers, protein-ligand nanocomplexes, micro/nanoparticles, and oil-in-water (O/W) emulsions have increasingly attracted attention in the codelivery of multiple bioactive agents, due to the simple and convenient preparation procedure, high stability, matrix compatibility, and dosage flexibility. However, the successful codelivery of bioactive agents with diverse physicochemical properties by using these simple-structure carriers is a daunting task. In this review, some effective strategies such as combined functional properties of proteins, self-assembly, composite, layer-by-layer, and interfacial engineering are introduced to redesign the carrier structure and explore the encapsulation of multiple bioactive agents. It then highlights success stories and challenges in the co-encapsulation of multiple bioactive agents within protein-based carriers with a simple structure. The partition, protection, and release of bioactive agents in these protein-based codelivery carriers are considered and discussed. Finally, safety and application as well as challenges of co-encapsulated bioactive agents in the food industry are also discussed. This work provides a state-of-the-art overview of protein-based particles and O/W emulsions in co-encapsulating bioactive agents, which is essential for the design and development of novel functional foods containing multiple bioactive agents.

Abstract
Achieving the best possible outcome for the therapy is the main goal of a medicine. Therefore, nanocarriers and co-delivery strategies were invented to meet this need, as they can benefit many diseases. This approach was applied specifically for cancer treatment, with some success. However, these strategies may benefit many other clinical issues. Skin is the largest and most exposed organ of the human body, with physiological and psychological properties. Due to its exposition and importance, it is not difficult to understand how many skin diseases may impact on patients' lives, representing an important burden for society. Thus, this review aims to summarize the state of the art in research concerning nanocarriers and co-delivery strategies for topical agents' applications targeting skin diseases. The challenge for the medicine of the future is to deliver the drug with spatial and temporal control. Therefore, the co-encapsulation of drugs and the appropriate form of administration for them are so important and remain as unmet needs.

Abstract
Printing a structured network of functionalized droplets in a liquid medium enables engineering collectives of living cells for functional purposes and promises enormous applications in processes ranging from energy storage to tissue engineering. Current approaches are limited to drop-by-drop printing or face limitations in reproducing the sophisticated internal features of a structured material and its interactions with the surrounding media. Here, we report a simple approach for creating stable liquid filaments of silica nanoparticle dispersions and use them as inks to print all-in-liquid materials that consist of a network of droplets. Silica nanoparticles stabilize liquid filaments at Weber numbers two orders of magnitude smaller than previously reported in liquid-liquid systems by rapidly producing a concentrated emulsion zone at the oil-water interface. We experimentally demonstrate the printed aqueous phase is emulsified in-situ; consequently, a 3D structure is achieved with flexible walls consisting of layered emulsions. The tube-like printed features have a spongy texture resembling miniaturized versions of “tube sponges” found in the oceans. A scaling analysis based on the interplay between hydrodynamics and emulsification kinetics reveals that filaments are formed when emulsions are generated and remain at the interface during the printing period. Stabilized filaments are utilized for printing liquid-based fluidic channels. All-in-liquid printing promises applications from energy storage to drug delivery and tissue engineering. Here, authors present the in-situ generation of layered emulsion in a fraction of a second at the oil-water interface forming 3D tube-like structures in a liquid medium.

Abstract
Lipid materials were chosen based on theoretical and experimental lipid screening. SLNs and NLCs with high curcumin loading were produced using the selected lipids. Nano-sized lipid particles fabricated by tuning the processing parameters. Lipid matrix component compatibility affects thermal properties as shown by DSC. Formation of distinct lipid structures in liquid lipid concentration-dependent manner.
Lipid nanoparticles have been widely investigated for their use as either carriers for poorly water soluble actives or as (Pickering) emulsion stabilisers. Recent studies have suggested that the fabrication of lipid nanostructures that can display both these performances concurrently, can enable the development of liquid formulations for multi-active encapsulation and release. Understanding the effects of different formulation variables on the microstructural attributes that underline both these functionalities is crucial in developing such lipid nanostructures. In this study, two types of lipid-based nanoparticles, solid lipid nanoparticles and nanostructured lipid carriers, were fabricated using varying formulation parameters, namely type of solid lipid, concentration of liquid lipid and type/concentration of surface active species. The impact of these formulation parameters on the size, thermal properties, encapsulation efficiency, loading capacity and long-term storage stability of the developed lipid systems, was studied. Preliminary lipid screening and processing conditions studies, focused on creating a suitable lipid host matrix of appropriate dimensions that could enable the high loading of a model hydrophobic active (curcumin). Informed by this, selected lipid nanostructures were then produced. These were characterised by encapsulation efficiency and loading capacity values as high as 99% and 5%, respectively, and particle dimensions within the desirable size range (100-200 nm) required to enable Pickering functionality. Compatibility between the lipid matrix components, and liquid lipid/active addition were shown to greatly influence the polymorphism/crystallinity of the fabricated particles, with the latter demonstrating a liquid lipid concentration-dependent behaviour. Successful long-term storage stability of up to 28 weeks was confirmed for certain formulations.

Abstract
In recent years, the demand for non-surfactant based Pickering emulsions in many industrial applications has grown significantly because of the option to select biodegradable and sustainable materials with low toxicity as emulsion stabilisers. Usually, emulsions are a dispersion system, where synthetic surfactants or macromolecules stabilise two immiscible phases (typically water and oil phases) to prevent coalescence. However, synthetic surfactants are not always a suitable choice in some applications, especially in pharmaceuticals, food and cosmetics, due to toxicity and lack of compatibility and biodegradability. Therefore, this review reports recent literature (2018-2021) on the use of comparatively safer biodegradable polysaccharide particles, proteins, lipids and combinations of these species in various Pickering emulsion formulations. Also, an overview of the various tuneable factors associated with the functionalisation or surface modification of these solid particles, that govern the stability of the Pickering emulsions is provided.

Abstract
HYPOTHESIS Nanoemulsions (NE) and solid lipid nanoparticles (SLN) used for drug delivery should have a solid shell to be stable during long shelf life and become liquid at human body temperature. The core components of lipid nanoparticles can be partially incorporated into the shell and affect the physical and thermal stability. EXPERIMENTS We prepared NE and SLN by the phase inversion temperature (PIT) method. Solidification of the surfactants Tween60 and Span 60 on the surface of NE droplets with paraffin oil resulted in the formation of the solid shell. SLN contained stearic acid in the core and the same surfactants in the solid shell. The size, structure and stability of the NE and SLN were studied by DLS and cryo-TEM. Their crystallization and melting were analyzed using DSC. FINDINGS The lipid nanoparticles were resistant to aggregation and sedimentation and hold up to at least two cycles of heating to 50-60 °C and subsequent cooling to 5 °C, even though the upper temperatures were higher than the melting point of the surfactant shell. The expected liquid core/solid shell morphology of NE was confirmed. SLN were composed of a semi-liquid core of supercooled stearic acid melt and coated with a solid surfactant shell, so they can be treated as NE. Stearic acid molecules penetrated the shell, leading to an increase in its melting point.
