Abstract
The corrosion resistance of the HRB400 steel rebar alloyed with Cr and rare earths (RE) was systematically studied from two aspects, including the properties of the passive film and the protectiveness of the rust layer. The results presented that Cr increased the corrosion resistance of the steel rebar through stabilizing the passive film and was not involved in the formation of corrosion pits, while the pitting corrosion was initiated by the dissolution of (RE)2O2S inclusion, resulting in the local acidification at the bottom of the corrosion pits, which decreased the stability of the passive film. As for the long-term corrosion process, both Cr and RE decreased the corrosion rate of the steel rebar, which was related to the promotion effect on the formation of α-FeOOH in the rust layer from Cr and RE.

Abstract
Removal of perchlorate using either acid-washed zero-valent aluminum or aluminum hydroxide was studied in batch reactors under ambient temperature and pressure. Approximately 90-95% of perchlorate was removed within 24h in the presence of 35 g L(-1) aluminum at acidic pH (4.5+/-0.2). Although aluminum is a strong reductant, this study indicated no explicit evidence to support perchlorate reduction while it was found that an adsorption process is involved in the perchlorate removal. The adsorbed perchlorate ions were desorbed effectively using a 1.0 N MgSO(4) solution. The effective composition for the perchlorate adsorption is confirmed as aluminum hydroxide (bayerite), which is a product of the aluminum corrosion. Rapid adsorption of perchlorate was observed in the presence of aluminum hydroxide. The perchlorate adsorption by aluminum hydroxide is dependent on the solution pH. The removal mechanism can be attributed to the ion-pair formation at the aluminum hydroxide surface.

Abstract
This work presents the current oscillation phenomena observed in an electrochemical Cu/0.5 M CF3COOH system. The dynamical response of this new oscillator was followed by both current density-potential (j-E) and current density-time (j-t) curves. The current oscillation phenomena of the investigated system were monitored over various potential scan rates and constant applied potentials as control parameters. The increase of potential scan rate significantly decreases both the potential range of current oscillations and the frequency of oscillations. At the j-t curves both the simple and the complex (period adding) oscillations were found. Moreover, with the increase of applied potential, the increase of period of oscillations and current oscillation amplitudes were observed. It appears that the period of current oscillations exponentially grows with applied potential.
