Abstract
4-Thiadiazole substituted phthalonitrile and peripherally tetra-substituted phthalocyanine Cu(II), Fe(II) and Ti(IV)O complexes have been synthesized for the first time. Electrochemical properties of these complexes were determined with voltammetric and in situ spectroelectrochemical measurements. CuPc has redox inactive Cu(2+) center, therefore it gave three Pc based reduction and two Pc based oxidation processes. TiOPc and FePc complexes gave metal based redox processes in addition to Pc based redox reactions due to the redox activity of Ti(4+)O and Fe(2+) metal centers. Although FePc also gave three reduction and two oxidation reactions, peak potentials of these processes are different than those of CuPc due to the different assignments of the redox reactions. TiOPc went to five reduction and one oxidation reactions. Assignments of the redox processes were carried out with in situ spectroelectrochemical measurements. Spectra and color of the electrogenerated redox species of the complexes were also determined with in situ spectroelectrochemical and in situ electrocolorimetric measurements. Distinct color differences between the electrogenerated redox species were observed, which indicated their possible electrochromic usages.

Abstract
A cathode active and selective pesticide electrochemical sensor based on Langmuir–Blodgett (LB) film of cobalt phthalocyanine-anthraquinone hybrid (CoPc-AQ) was constructed for the first time in this study. Cobalt-based, Pc ring-based, and anthraquinone-based reduction processes of CoPc-AQ indicated suitability of the complex as a possible electrochemical catalyst and sensor for detection of target species. LB film of CoPc-AQ on ITO (ITO/CoPc-AQ electrode) was titrated with eserine and carbofuran pesticides and interaction of the electrode with these pesticides was tested with square wave voltammetry (SWV), electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), and double potential step chronocoulometry (DPSCC) techniques. ITO/CoPc-AQ electrode selectively sensed carbofuran and eserine pesticides. While ITO/CoPc-AQ electrode senses carbofuran with the voltammetric responses recorded at anodic potentials (1.20 V), eserine sensing affected antraquinone based reduction peaks recorded at cathodic potentials (-0.80 V). Modification of ITO/CoPc-AQ electrode with nano-platinum and nano-gold particles (ITO/CoPc-AQ-n Pt and ITO/CoPc-AQ-n Au ) increased the sensitivity of the electrode. All basic sensor parameters of modified electrodes were derived with different measurement techniques and compared with each other. The lowest detection limit (2.30 × 10-9 M) was recorded with EIS techniques on ITO/CoPc-AQ-n Pt electrode for sensing of eserine.

Abstract
In this work, a novel strategy to fabricate a highly sensitive and selective biosensor for the detection of Ag(+) is proposed. Two DNA probes are designed and modified on a gold electrode surface by gold-sulfur chemistry and hybridization. In the presence of Ag(+), cytosine-Ag(+)-cytosine composite forms and facilitates the ligation event on the electrode surface, which can block the release of electrochemical signals labeled on one of the two DNA probes during denaturation process. Ag(+) can be sensitively detected with the detection limit of 0.1 nM, which is much lower than the toxicity level defined by U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. This biosensor can easily distinguish Ag(+) from other interfering ions and the performances in real water samples are also satisfactory. Moreover, the two DNA probes are designed to contain the recognition sequences of a nicking endonuclease, and the ligated DNA can thus be cleaved at the original site. Therefore, the electrode can be regenerated, which allows the biosensor to be reused for additional tests.
