Abstract
Tracking the variation of Cl- timely within the crevice is of great significance for comprehending the dynamic mechanism of crevice corrosion. The reported chloride ion selective electrodes are difficult to realize the long-time Cl- detection inside the confined crevice, due to their millimeter size or a relative limited lifespan. For this purpose, an Ag/AgCl ultra-micro sensor (UMS) with a radius of 12.5 μm was fabricated and optimized using laser drawing and electrodeposition techniques. Results show the AgCl film's structure is significantly impacted by the deposited current density, and further affects the linear response, life span and stability of Ag/AgCl UMS. The UMS prepared at current density of 0.1 mA/cm2 for 2 h shows a rapid response (several seconds), excellent stability and reproducibility, strong acid/alkali tolerance, sufficient linearity (R2 > 0.99), and long lifespan (86 days). Moreover, combined with the potentiometric mode of scanning electrochemical microscope (SECM), the Ag/AgCl UMS was successfully applied to monitor the in-situ radial Cl- concentration in micro-regions inside a 100 μm gap of stainless steel. The findings demonstrated that there was obvious radial difference in Cl- concentration inside the crevice, where the fastest rise in Cl- concentration was at the opening. The proposed method which combines the UMS with SECM has attractive practical applications for microzone Cl- monitoring in real time inside crevice. It may further promote the study of other localized corrosion mechanism and the development of microzone ions detection method.

Abstract
Use of the nanocomposite of chloride-doped polyaniline nanofibers and multiwalled carbon nanotubes (PANINFs-Cl:MWCNTs) for construction of ion-selective electrodes with solid-contact sensitive to chloride ions has been described. Many types of electrodes were tested, differing in the quantitative and qualitative composition of the layer placed between the electrode material and the ion-selective membrane. Initial tests were carried out, including tests of electrical properties of intermediate solid-contact layers. The obtained ion-selective electrodes had a theoretical slope of the electrode characteristic curve (-61.3 mV dec-1), a wide range of linearity (5 × 10-6-1 × 10-1 mol L-1) and good potential stability resistant to changing measurement conditions (redox potential, light, oxygen). The chloride contents in the tap, mineral and river water samples were successfully determined using the electrodes.

Uses of Scanning Electrochemical Microscopy (SECM) for the Characterization with Spatial and Chemical Resolution of Thin Surface Layers and Coating Systems Applied on Metals: A Review. COATINGS 2022. Abstract
Scanning Electrochemical Microscopy (SECM) is increasingly used in the study and characterization of thin surface films as well as organic and inorganic coatings applied on metals for the collection of spatially- and chemically-resolved information on the localized reactions related to material degradation processes. The movement of a microelectrode (ME) in close proximity to the interface under study allows the application of various experimental procedures that can be classified into amperometric and potentiometric operations depending on either sensing faradaic currents or concentration distributions resulting from the corrosion process. Quantitative analysis can be performed using the ME signal, thus revealing different sample properties and/or the influence of the environment and experimental variables that can be observed on different length scales. In this way, identification of the earlier stages for localized corrosion initiation, the adsorption and formation of inhibitor layers, monitoring of water and specific ions uptake by intact polymeric coatings applied on metals for corrosion protection as well as lixiviation, and detection of coating swelling—which constitutes the earlier stages of blistering—have been successfully achieved. Unfortunately, despite these successful applications of SECM for the characterization of surface layers and coating systems applied on metallic materials, we often find in the scientific literature insufficient or even inadequate description of experimental conditions related to the reliability and reproducibility of SECM data for validation. This review focuses specifically on these features as a continuation of a previous review describing the applications of SECM in this field.

Abstract
Amperometric and potentiometric probes were employed for the detection and characterization of reactive sites on the 2098-T351 Al-alloy (AA2098-T351) using scanning electrochemical microscopy (SECM). Firstly, the probe of concept was performed on a model Mg-Al galvanic pair system using SECM in the amperometric and potentiometric operation modes, in order to address the responsiveness of the probes for the characterization of this galvanic pair system. Next, these sensing probes were employed to characterize the 2098-T351 alloy surface immersed in a saline aqueous solution at ambient temperature. The distribution of reactive sites and the local pH changes associated with severe localized corrosion (SLC) on the alloy surface were imaged and subsequently studied. Higher hydrogen evolution, lower oxygen depletion and acidification occurred at the SLC sites developed on the 2098-T351 Al-alloy.

Abstract
This work consists of two parts. In the first part, the kinetics and mechanism of corrosion on the surface of the welded joint area of the aircraft 1579 aluminium alloy have been studied using SVET (scanning vibrating electrode technique) and SIET (scanning ion-selective electrode technique) in 0.5 M NaCl. The results have revealed the corrosion process development within the weld interface due to the presence of microdefects in the morphological structure. Features of the 1579 Al alloy corrosion have also been investigated through immersion experiments, quantitative analysis of dissolved alloying elements by means of atomic absorption spectroscopy, and corrosion products characterization using XRD (X-ray diffraction) analysis. The presence of Mg as an alloying element in the 1579 Al alloy sufficiently increases the bulk pH values as a result of the intensive dissolution of Mg. These factors accelerate the corrosion activity of the studied material in the 0.5 M NaCl solution. Corrosion evolution analysis of the 1579 Al alloy sample showed the importance of the coating formation to protect this alloy against corrosion and to increase the stability of this system in the corrosive media.
