Abstract
The fascinating electrochemical properties of the redox-active compound ferrocene have inspired researchers across the globe to develop ferrocene-based electrocatalysts for a wide variety of applications. Advantages including excellent chemical and thermal stability, solubility in organic solvents, a pair of stable redox states, rapid electron transfer, and nontoxic nature improve its utility in various electrochemical applications. The use of ferrocene-based electrocatalysts enables control over the intrinsic properties and electroactive sites at the surface of the electrode to achieve specific electrochemical activities. Ferrocene and its derivatives can function as a potential redox medium that promotes electron transfer rates, thereby enhancing the reaction kinetics and electrochemical responses of the device. The outstanding electrocatalytic activity of ferrocene-based compounds at lower operating potentials enhances the specificity and sensitivity of reactions and also amplifies the response signals. Owing to their versatile redox chemistry and catalytic activities, ferrocene-based electrocatalysts are widely employed in various energy-related systems, molecular machines, and agricultural, biological, medicinal, and sensing applications. This review highlights the importance of ferrocene-based electrocatalysts, with emphasis on their properties, synthesis strategies for obtaining different ferrocene-based compounds, and their electrochemical applications.

Abstract
Accurate diagnosis of cancer cells in early stages plays an important role in reliable therapeutic strategies. In this study, we aimed to develop fluorescence-conjugated polymer carrying nanocapsules (NCs) which is highly selective for myeloma cancer cells. To gain specific targeting properties, NCs, XT5 molecules (a benzamide derivative) which shows high affinity properties against protease-activated receptor-1 (PAR1), that overexpressed in myeloma cancer cells, was used. For this purpose, 1,2-distearoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphoethanolamine-N-[carboxy(polyethylene glycol)-2000]-carboxylic acid (DSPE-PEG2000-COOH) molecules, as a main encapsulation material, was conjugated to XT5 molecules due to esterification reaction using N,N'-dicyclohexylcarbodiimide as a coupling agent. The synthesized DSPE-PEG2000-COO-XT5 was characterized by using FT-IR and1H NMR spectroscopies and results indicated that XT5 molecules were successfully conjugated to DSPE-PEG2000-COOH. Poly(fluorene-alt-benzothiadiazole) (PFBT) conjugated polymer (CP) was encapsulated with DSPE-PEG2000-COO-XT5 due to dissolving in tetrahydrofuran and ultra-sonication in an aqueous solution, respectively. The morphological properties, UV-vis absorbance, and emission properties of obtainedCPencapsulatedDSPE-PEG2000-COO-XT5(CPDP-XT5) NCs was determined by utilizing scanning electron microscopy, UV-vis spectroscopy, and fluorescent spectroscopy, respectively. Cytotoxicity properties of CPDP-XT5 was evaluated by performing MTT assay on RPMI 8226 myeloma cell lines. Cell viability results confirmed that XT5 molecules were successfully conjugated to DSPE-PEG2000-COOH. Specific targeting properties of CPDP-XT5 NCs and XT5-free NCs (CPDP NCs) were investigated on RPMI 8226 myeloma cell lines by utilizing fluorescent microscopy and results indicated that CPDP-XT5 NCs shows significantly high affinity in comparison to CPDP NCs against the cells. Homology modeling and molecular docking properties of XT5 molecules were evaluated and simulation results confirmed our results.

Abstract
Pharmaceutical effluents are a serious environmental issue, which require to be treated by a suitable technique; thus, the electrochemical process is actively considered as a viable method for the treatment. In this work, new carbon paste electrodes (CPEs) were fabricated by compressing gold and silver nanoparticles (NPs), namely, CPE/Ag NPs, CPE/Au NPs, and CPE/Ag/Au NPs and then completely characterized by different analytical methods. The performance of the electrodes was studied after determining their surface area (×10-6 cm2) as 4.17, 5.05, 5.27, and 5.12, producing high anodic currents for K4[Fe(CN)6] compared to the commercial electrode. This agrees with the results of impedance study, where the electron transfer rate constants (kapp, ×10-3 cm s-1) were determined to be 28.7, 42.6, 41.0, and 101.4 for CPE, CPE/Ag NPs, CPE/Au NPs, and CPE/Ag/Au NPs, respectively, through the Bode plot-phase shifts. This is consistent with the charge transfer resistance (RCT, Ω), resulting as 171 for CPE/Ag/Au NPs < 395 for CPE/Ag NPs < 427 for CPE/Au NPs and < 742 for CPE. Therefore, these electrodes were employed to detect trimethoprim (TMP) since metallic NPs contribute good crystallinity, stability, conduciveness, and surface plasmon resonance to the CPE, convalescing the sensitivity; comprehensively, they were applied for its detection in real water and human urine samples, and the limit of detection (LOD) was as low as 0.026, 0.032, and 0.026 μmol L-1 for CPE/Ag NPs, CPE/Au NPs, and CPE/Ag/Au NPs, respectively. In contrast, unmodified CPE was unable to detect TMP due to the lack of efficiency. The developed technique shows excellent electrochemical recovery of 92.3 and 97.1% in the urine sample. Density functional theory (DFT) was used to explain the impact of the metallic center in graphite through density of states (DOS).

Abstract
In the present study, an enzyme-less amperometric sensor based on Nafion (NF) and a LaNiO3 (LNO) nanocomposite was constructed for H2O2 detection. LNO from the perovskite group was mixed with NF as an effective solubilizing and stabilizing agent that was used as a novel modifier for modification of the glassy carbon electrode (GCE). The designed sensor showed a desirable electrocatalytic response toward H2O2 reduction. The calibration curve revealed two linear portions in the concentration ranges of 0.2-50 μM and 50-3240 μM, and the detection limit was 0.035 μM. The accuracy of the interference-free sensor was checked by recovery analysis in serum samples.

Abstract
We reported the synthesis of a copolymer- and metal-organic framework-based electrochemical sensor, UiO-66-NH2@P(ANI-co-ANA) using the polymerization method for the highly sensitive and selective detection of hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) and dopamine (DA). The as-synthesized material was characterized via Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction analysis, scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, and thermogravimetric analysis. The electrochemical characteristics of the proposed sensor were evaluated via impedance spectroscopy and cyclic voltammetry (CV). The electrochemical oxidation of DA and the reduction of H2O2 were determined via CV, square-wave voltammetry, and chronoamperometric techniques. The fabricated sensor exhibited a wide linear range of 25-500 μM, with a sensitivity of 1396.1 μAμM-1cm-2 and a limit of detection of 0.6 μM, for the electrochemical reduction of H2O2. Additionally, it exhibited a wide linear range of 10-110 μM, with a sensitivity of 1110.2 μAμM-1cm-2 and a limit of detection of 0.3 μM, for the electrochemical detection of DA. The practical utility of the fabricated sensor was evaluated via the detection of H2O2 in milk samples and DA in human urine samples.

Abstract
An aptasensor is described for electrochemical determination of organophosphorus pesticides (OPPs), specifically of profenofos, phorate, isocarbophos, and omethoate. The method uses a hairpin aptamer as signalling donor. Its 5' and 3' ends were modified with amino groups and the redox probe ferrocene (Fc), respectively. A nanocomposite consisting of graphene oxide and chitosan (GO-chit) was used to immobilize the aptamer via formation of an amide link. Its good conductivity facilitates monitoring of the electrochemical responses. Upon addition of an OPP, it will be bound by the aptamer. This results in an opening of the hairpin structure. Thus, Fc is shifted away from the surface of the electrode. As a result, the impedance increases and the redox signal of Fc decreases. The electrochemical performance, binding capacity and response of the aptasensor for profenofos, phorate, isocarbophos and omethoate were studied. The limits of detection are as low as 0.01, 0.1, 0.01 and 0.1 nM, respectively. Graphical abstract Schematic representation of an electrochemical aptasensor prepared by immobilizing ferrocene (Fc) labeled hairpin aptamer (HP) on the surface of graphene oxide-chitosan (GO-chit) modified electrode, and its application to the determination of organophosphorus pesticides (OPPs) by voltammetry.

Abstract
Graphitic carbon nitride (g-C3N4) doped carboxylated MWCNTs nanocomposite was synthesized using a simple method. The composite films containing 45 wt%, 50 wt%, 56 wt%, 67 wt% fraction of the carboxylated MWCNTs doped into g-C3N4 were fabricated and characterized. An electrochemical non-enzymatic sensor for determination of 5'-guanosine monophosphate (GMP) based on the nanocomposite was developed. The results indicate that the g-C3N4-carboxylated MWCNTs nanocomposite has highly electrocatalytic activity, good conductivity and biocompatibility, which plays an essential role in the determination of GMP. Under the optimum conditions, the linear fitting equation was I (µA) = -0.0022c (μg·mL-1) + 0.3560 (R2 = 0.9982). The linear range was from 0.5 to 100 μg·mL-1 and the detection limit (LOD, S/N = 3) was 0.109 μg·mL-1. This non-enzymatic sensor can offer a better alternative to other methods for the analysis of GMP because of cheap cost, low detection limit and good anti-jamming capability in meat quality evaluation.
