Abstract
Herein, we fabricated an ultrasensitive electrochemical immunosensor for the quantitative detection of corticosteroid-binding globulin (CBG). CBG is a protein that regulates glucocorticoid levels and is an important biomarker for inflammation. A decrease in CBG levels is a key biomarker for inflammatory diseases, such as septic shock. To enhance the electrochemical performance and provide a large surface area for anti-CBG immobilization, we functionalized the glassy carbon electrode surface with AuNPs. Electrochemical characterization methods including cyclic voltammetry (CV) and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) were used to examine the construction of the fabricated immunosensor. The electrochemical signal demonstrated a remarkable sensitivity to the CBG antigen, with a detection range from 0.01 to 100 μg/mL and a limit of detection of 0.012 μg/mL, making it suitable for both clinical and research applications. This label-free immunosensor offers significant advantages, including high sensitivity, low detection limits and excellent selectivity, making it a promising tool for detecting CBG in complex biological samples. Its potential applications include early disease diagnosis, treatment monitoring and studying CBG-related physiological processes.

Abstract
Organic pollutants (OPs) have garnered a considerable amount of attention in recent times due to their extreme toxicity toward humans and the ecosystem. The need for an inexpensive yet robust, sensitive, selective, and easy-to-operate method for detecting OPs remains a challenge. Herein, a portable electrochemical sensor is proposed based on manganese porphyrin-functionalized carbon cloth (CC). To explain the electrochemical performance of the sensor, cyclic voltammetry (CV) and differential pulse voltammetry (DPV) were employed. The presence of manganese(III) ion in the center of the porphyrin ligand acted as an agent for the transfer of electrons and enhanced sensitivity toward analyte-specific redox catalysis. Moreover, it allowed for the concurrent detection of multiple analytes in a complex environment. The modified CC electrode can selectively detect nitroaromatic and phenolic compounds with accessible data collected through wireless means onto a smartphone device. The as-synthesized electrode demonstrated a higher sensitivity toward the detection of nitrobenzene (NB) and aqueous phenol with a limit of detection (LOD) found to be 5.9268 × 10-10 M and 4.0178 × 10-10 M, respectively. Additionally, our proposed portable electrochemical sensor demonstrates a high selectivity and reproducibility toward nitroaromatic and phenolic compounds, which can be employed in real complex water samples. With regard to the sensor's remarkable electrochemical performance, it is envisaged that such a sensor could pave the way for environmental point of care (POC) testing.

Abstract
Tailored to the increasing demands for sensing technologies, the fabrication of dual-modal sensing technologies through combining two signal transduction channels into one method has been proposed and drawn considerable attention. The integration of two sensing signals not only promotes the analytical efficiency with reduced assumption, but also improves the analytical performances with enlarged detection linear range, enhanced accuracy, and boosted application flexibility. The two top-rated output signals for developing dual-modal sensors are colorimetric and fluorescent signals because of their outstanding merits for point of care applications and real-time sensitive sensing. Given the rapid development of material chemistry and nanotechnology, the recent decade has witnessed great advance in colorimetric/fluorimetric signal based dual-modal sensing technologies. The new sensing strategy leads to a broad avenue for various applications in disease diagnosis, environmental monitoring and food safety because of the complementary and synergistic effects of the two output signals. In this state-of-the-art review, we comprehensively summarize different types of colorimetric/fluorimetric dual-modal sensing methods by highlighting representative research in the last 5 years, digging into their sensing methodologies, particularly the working principles of the signal transduction systems. Then, the challenges and future prospects for boosting further development of this research field are discussed.

Abstract
3D hierarchical graphitic carbon nanowalls encapsulating cobalt nanoparticles HPC-Co were prepared in high yield from solid-state pyrolysis of cobalt 2,2′-bipyridine chloride complex. Annealing of HPC-Co in air gave HPC-CoO, which consists of a mixture of crystallite Co3O4 nanospheres and nanorods bursting out of mesoporous carbon. Both nanocomposites were fully characterized using SEM, TEM, BET, and powder X-ray diffraction. The elemental composition of both nanocomposites examined using SEM elemental mapping and TEM elemental mapping supports the successful doping of nitrogen. The powder X-ray diffraction studies supported the formation of hexagonal cobalt in HPC-Co, and cubic crystalline Co3O4 with cubic cobalt in HPC-CoO. HPC-Co and HPC-CoO can be used as a modified carbon electrode in cyclic voltammetry experiments for the detection of fructose with limit of detection LOD 0.5 mM. However, the single-frequency impedimetric method has a wider dynamic range of 8.0–53.0 mM and a sensitivity of 24.87 Ω mM−1 for the electrode modified with HPC-Co and 8.0–87.6 mM and a sensitivity of 1.988 Ω mM−1 for the electrode modified with HPC-CoO. The LOD values are 3 and 4 mM, respectively. The effect of interference increases in the following order: ascorbic acid, ethanol, urea, and glucose. A simple method was used with negligible interference from glucose to measure the percentage of fructose in a corn syrup sample with an HPC-CoO electrode. A specific capacitance of 47.0 F/g with 76.6% retentivity was achieved for HPC-Co and 28.2 F/g with 87.9% for HPC-CoO for 3000 charge–discharge cycles. Thus, (1) has better sensitivity and specific capacitance than (2), because (1) has a higher surface area and less agglomerated cobalt nanoparticles than (2).

Abstract
Due to high affinity and specificity of aptamers, they are widely considered for construction of aptasensor to specific recognizing of analytes in biological complex matrix. So, in this work we design a high selective and sensitive aptasensor for leukemia cancer cells (CCRF-CEM) via superior catalytic effect of copper sulfide-graphene (CuS-GR) nanocomposite as label and Au-GR nanocomposite as sensing platform. The CuS-GR nano-composite (label component) is CuS nanoparticles that wrapping on graphene sheets. Its catalytic activity (CuS-GR) increases the current of sensor in parallel with adding of CCRF-CEM and provide sensitive detection of analytes. The detailed of signal amplification and effect on the aptasensor performance completely discussed. This sensor has a linear range of 50-1 × 106 cell mL-1, with a limit of detection of 18 cell mL-1. Also, the developed aptasensor has a significance specificity, high sensitivity and accuracy. It was used for the identification of CCRF-CEM cells in blood samples.

Abstract
Five-aminosalicylic acid (5-ASA) is an anti-inflammatory drug indicated in the treatment of inflammatory bowel diseases such as ulcerative colitis and Crohn's disease. Among the analytical methods of quantification of 5-ASA described in the literature, the High Efficiency Liquid Chromatography stands out, a sensitive technique but with a high cost. In recent years, alternative methods have been developed, presenting efficiency and reduced cost, such as UV/visible spectrophotometric, spectrofluorescent, and electrochemical methods, techniques recommended for the application in quality control and quantification of 5-ASA in pharmaceutical forms and biological fluids. This article aims to review the physicochemical characteristics, pharmacokinetics, mechanisms of action, controlled release systems, and the different analytical and bioanalytical methods for the quantification of 5-ASA.

Abstract
With the development of nanomaterials in electrochemical sensors, the use of nanostructures to modify the electrode surface has been shown to improve the kinetics of the electron transfer process. In this study, a sensor was developed for the electrochemical determination of Acyclovir (ACV) based on the modified carbon paste electrode (CPE) by CdO/Fe3O4. The magnetic CdO nanoparticles characterization was studied by energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS) and X-ray diffraction (XRD). To study of the modified CPE surface morphology, scanning electron microscopy (SEM) was used. At the optimal conditions, a noteworthy enhancement in the electrochemical behavior of ACV was observed at the surface of the modified CPE compared to the unmodified CPE. A detection limit of 300 nM and a linear range of 1–100 μM were obtained for the quantitative monitoring of ACV at the modified CPE surface using differential pulse voltammetry (DPV) in phosphate buffer. The RSD% (relative standard deviation) of the electrode response was <4.3% indicating the development of a high precision method. Also, satisfactory results were obtained in the determination of ACV with the modified electrode in tablet, blood serum, and urine samples with a satisfactory relative recovery (RR%) in the range of 94.0–104.4%.

Abstract
![]()
Introduction: The application of gold nanoparticles (GNPs) in medicine is expanding as an effective therapeutic and diagnostic compound. Different polysaccharides with high biocompatibility and hydrophilic properties have been used for synthesis and capping of GNPs. Chondroitin sulfate (CHS) as a polysaccharide possesses a wide range of biological functions e.g. anti-oxidant, anti-inflammation, anti-coagulation, anti-atherosclerosis, anti-thrombosis with insignificant immunogenicity and has not been used for the green synthesis of GNPs.
Methods: GNPs were synthesized using CHS, and their physicochemical properties were evaluated. The antibacterial activity of CHS-GNPs was estimated against both gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria. The cytotoxicity of CHS and CHS-GNPs was obtained by MTT (3-(4, 5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2, 5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide) test, and the electrocatalytic activity of CHS-GNPs was investigated. The blood compatibility was evaluated by the in vitro hemolysis assay.
Results: The absorption band at 527 nm reveals the reduction of Au3+ into GNPs. The transmission electron microscopy (TEM) image displays the spherical shape of GNPs in the range of 5.8–31.4 nm. The CHS and CHS-GNPs at 300 µg/mL revealed a maximum DPPH (1, 1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl) scavenging activity of 73% and 65%, respectively. CHS-GNPs showed antibacterial activity against Bacillus subtilis , while CHS has no antibacterial activity. CHS-GNPs exhibited a cytotoxicity effect against MDA-MB-468 and βTC3 cancer cell lines, and the electrochemical study indicated a significant increase in electrocatalytic properties of CHS-GNPs coated electrode compared by the bare electrode. The hemolysis test proved the blood compatibility of CHS-GNPs.
Conclusion: The results indicate the advantages of using CHS to produce blood-compatible GNPs with antioxidant, cytotoxic, and electrochemical properties.

Abstract
The benzodiazepine class of drugs are characterised by a readily electrochemically reducible azomethine group. A number are also substituted by other electrochemically active nitro, N-oxide, and carbonyl groups, making them readily accessible to electrochemical determination. Techniques such as polarography, voltammetry, and potentiometry have been employed for pharmaceutical and biomedical samples, requiring little sample preparation. This review describes current developments in the design and applications of electrochemical-based approaches for the determination of the benzodiazepine class of drugs form their introduction in the early 1960s to 2019. Throughout this period, state-of-the-art electroanalytical techniques have been reported for their determination. Polarography was first employed focused on mechanistic investigations. Subsequent studies showed the adsorption of many the benzodiazepines at Hg electrodes allowed for the highly sensitive technique of adsorptive stripping voltammetry to be employed. The development and introduction of other working electrode materials such as carbon led to techniques such as voltammetry to become commonly reported, and the modification of these electrodes has now become the most commonly employed approach using molecularly imprinting and nanotechnology.

Abstract
Here, a specific and reliable fluorometric method for the rapid determination of amikacin was developed based on the molecularly imprinting polymer (MIP) capped g-C3N4 quantum dots (QDs). g-C3N4 QDs were obtained by facile and one-spot ethanol-thermal treatment of bulk g-C3N4 powder and showed a high yield fluorescence emission under UV irradiation. The MIP layer was also created on the surface on QDs, via usual self-assembly process of 3-aminopropyl triethoxysilane (APTES) functional monomers and tetraethyl ortho-silicate (TEOS) cross linker in the presence of amikacin as template molecules. The synthesized MIP-QDs composite showed an improved tendency toward the amikacin molecules. In this state, amikacin molecules located adjacent to the g-C3N4 QDs caused a remarkable quenching effect on the fluorescence emission intensity of QDs. This effect has a linear relationship with amikacin concentration and so, formed the basis of a selective assay to recognize amikacin. Under optimized experimental conditions, a linear calibration graph was obtained as the quenched emission and amikacin concentration, in the range of 3-400 ng mL-1 (4.4-585.1 nM) with a detection limit of 1.2 ng mL-1 (1.8 nM). The high selectivity of MIP sites as well as individual fluorescence properties of g-C3N4 QDs offers a high specific and sensitive monitoring method for drug detection. The method was acceptably applied for the measurement of amikacin in biological samples.
