Abstract
Herein, we describe a fast and highly sensitive electrochemical sensor for doxorubicin (DOX) detection based on the indium tin oxide (ITO) modified with a binary material consisting of vertically-ordered mesoporous silica films (VMSFs) and N-doped graphene quantum dots (NGQDs). VMSFs, with high permeability and efficient molecular transport capacity, is attached to the ITO electrode via a rapid and controllable electrochemical method, which can serve as a solid template for the confinement of numerous NGQDs through facile electrophoresis. By virtue of the excellent charge transfer capacity, π-π and electrostatic preconcentration effects of NGQDs, as well as the electrostatic enrichment ability of VMSF, the presented NGQDs@VMSF/ITO shows amplified electrochemical signal towards DOX with a positive charge, resulting in good analytical performance in terms of a wide linear range (5 nM~0.1 μM and 0.1~1 μM), high sensitivity (30.4 μA μM-1), and a low limit of detection (0.5 nM). Moreover, due to the molecular sieving property of VMSF, the developed NGQDs@VMSF/ITO sensor has good selectivity and works well in human serum and urine samples, with recoveries of 97.0~109%, thus providing a simple and reliable method for the direct electrochemical analysis of DOX without complex sample pretreatment procedures.

Abstract
Detection of anticancer drug (doxorubicin) using an electrochemical sensor is developed based on a transition metal vanadate's related carbon composite material. With an environmentally friendly process, we have synthesized a metal oxide composite of iron vanadate nanoparticle assembled with sulfur-doped carbon nanofiber (FeV/SCNF). The FeV/SCNF composite was characterized using XRD, TEM, FESEM with elemental mapping, XPS and EDS. In contrast to other electrodes reported in the literature, a much-improved electrochemical efficiency is shown by FeV/SCNF composite modified electrodes. Amperometric technique has been employed at 0.25 V (vs. Ag/AgCl) for the sensitive detection of DOX within a wide range of 20 nM-542.5 μM and it possesses enhanced selectivity in presence of common interferents. The modified electrochemical sensors show high sensitivity of 46.041 μA μM-1 cm-2. The newly developed sensor could be used for the determination of doxorubicin in both blood serum and drug formulations with acceptable results, suggesting its feasibility for real-time applications.

Abstract
In this research, glassy carbon electrode (GCE) amplified with single-wall carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) and ds-DNA was fabricated and utilized for voltammetric sensing of doxorubicin with a low detection limit. In this technique, the reduction in guanine signal of ds-DNA in the presence of doxorubicin (DOX) was chosen as an analytical factor. The molecular docking study revealed that the doxorubicin drug interacted with DNA through intercalation mode, which was in agreement with obtained experimental results. The DOX detection performance of ds-DNA/SWCNTs/GCE was assessed at a concentration range of 1.0 nM-20.0 µM. The detection limit was found to be 0.6 nM that was comparable and even better (in many cases) than that of previous electrochemical reported sensors. In the final step, the ds-DNA/SWCNTs/GCE showed powerful ability for determination of the DOX in injection samples with acceptable recovery data.

Abstract
Direct and accurate detection of doxorubicin (DOX) in unprocessed human whole blood is of vital importance in medical diagnosis and monitoring. In this work, we demonstrate the utilization of electrochemically pretreated glassy carbon electrodes (p-GCE) modified with vertically-ordered mesoporous silica films (VMSF) for rapid and sensitive electrochemical detection of DOX. The electrochemically pretreated process is a simple, cost-effective and environmentally friendly approach for improving interface catalytic properties and introducing oxygen-containing groups into the GCE surface, which could be suitable for stably growing VMSF without any adhesive layer simultaneously retaining the underlying electrode activity. Benefiting from the highly sensitive electrode substrate of p-GCE and electrostatic preconcentration effect of VMSF, the present VMSF/p-GCE sensor was able to determine DOX with an ultrahigh sensitivity (23.94 μA μM-1) and a relatively low limit of detection (0.2 nM) and a rather wide linear range (0.5 nM to 23 μM). Furthermore, direct and reliable electrochemical detection of DOX in human whole blood without complicated sample pretreatments was achieved owing to the excellent anti-fouling and anti-interference ability of VMSF.

Glutathione and cystamine functionalized MoS 2core-shell nanoparticles for enhanced electrochemical detection of doxorubicin. Mikrochim Acta 2021; 188:35. [PMID: 33420619 DOI: 10.1007/s00604-020-04642-8] [Citation(s) in RCA: 15] [Impact Index Per Article: 5.0] [Reference Citation Analysis] [Abstract] [Key Words] [Track Full Text] [Journal Information] [Subscribe] [Scholar Register] [Received: 09/06/2020] [Accepted: 11/09/2020] [Indexed: 01/03/2023]
Abstract
Two-dimensional (2D) MoS2core-shell nanoparticles were synthesized using an eco-friendly surface functionalization-agent with L-glutathione and cystamine (L-GSH-MoS2-CYS) using ultrasonic frequency of 20-25 kHz. The novel modified electrode was evaluated for the electrochemical detection of doxorubicin (DOX), through cyclic and differential pulse voltammetric techniques. The electro-catalytic oxidation currents of DOX exhibited a linear relationship in the concentration ranges 0.1-78.3 and 98.3-1218 μM, with a detection limit of 31 nM. A sensitivity of 0.017μA μM-1 cm-2 was acquired at 0.48 V. The fabricated L-GSH-MoS2-CYS modified electrode showed excellent precision, selectivity, repeatability, and reproducibility during the determination of DOX levels in blood serum samples. Thus, the fabricated L-GSH-MoS2-CYS/GCE modified electrode has potential for clinical applications for optimization of chemotherapeutic drugs owing to its selectivity, ease of preparation, and long-term stability.
