Abstract
Hydroquinone (HQ) in wastewater is of great concern, as it is harmful to human health and threatens the ecological environment. However, the existing adsorbents have low adsorption capacity for HQ. To improve the removal of HQ, N,S-codoped activated carbon-ZIF-67 (NSAC-ZIF-67@C) was synthesized in this study by in situ growth of ZIF-67 on N,S-codoped activated carbon (NSAC) and carbonization. The influence of pH, contact time, and initial concentration on the adsorption behaviors of NSAC-ZIF-67@C on HQ were investigated. Owing to the synergistic effect of abundant active sites and well-developed pore structure, the NSAC-ZIF-67@C achieved a prominent adsorption capacity of 962 mg·g-1 and can still retain high adsorption performance after 5 cycles for HQ, which is superior to that of reported other adsorbents. HQ adsorption follows the pseudo-second-order kinetics model (R2 = 0.99999) and the Freundlich isotherm model. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) analysis before and after adsorption as well as density functional theory (DFT) calculation results showed that pyridinic-N-termini were conducive to the π-π interactions and hydrogen-bonding interactions. Therefore, the adsorption mechanisms of NSAC-ZIF-67@C on HQ involve pore filling, electrostatic attraction, π-π interaction, and hydrogen bonding. This study is expected to provide a reference for designing highly effective adsorbents for wastewater treatment.

Abstract
Phenolic compounds would be the emerging pollutant by 2050, because of their wide spread applicability in daily life and therefore the adoption of suitable detection methods in which identification and separation of isomers is highly desirable. Owing to the fascinating features, Metal-organic framework (MOF), a class of reticular materials holds a large surface area with tunable shape and adjustable porosity will provide strong interaction with analytes through abundant functional groups resulting in high selectivity towards electrochemical determination of phenolic isomers. Nevertheless, the sensing performance can still be further improved by building MOF network (intrinsic resistance) with functional (conducting) materials, resulting in MOF based nanocomposite. Herein, this review provides the summary of MOF based nanocomposites for electrochemical sensing of phenolic compounds developed from 2015. In this review, we discussed the demerits of pristine MOF as electrode materials, and the requirement of new class of MOF with functional materials such as nanomaterials, carbon nanotubes, graphene and MXene. The history and evolution of MOF nanocomposite-based materials are discussed and also featured the impressive physical and chemical properties. Besides this review discusses the factors influencing the conducting pathway and mass transport of MOF based nanocomposite for enhanced sensing performance of phenolic compounds with suitable mechanistic illustrations. Finally, the major challenges governing the determination of phenolic compounds and the future advancements required for the development of MOF based electrodes for various applications are highlighted.

Abstract
An electrochemical sensor based on electrochemically reduced graphene oxide (ErGO), carboxylated carbon nanotubes (cMWCNT), and gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) (GCE/ErGO-cMWCNT/AuNPs) was developed for the simultaneous detection of dihidroxybenzen isomers (DHB) hydroquinone (HQ), catechol (CC), and resorcinol (RS) using differential pulse voltammetry (DPV). The fabrication and optimization of the system were evaluated with Raman Spectroscopy, SEM, cyclic voltammetry, and DPV. Under optimized conditions, the GCE/ErGO-cMWCNT/AuNPs sensor exhibited a linear concentration range of 1.2–170 μM for HQ and CC, and 2.4–400 μM for RS with a detection limit of 0.39 μM, 0.54 μM, and 0.61 μM, respectively. When evaluated in tap water and skin-lightening cream, DHB multianalyte detection showed an average recovery rate of 107.11% and 102.56%, respectively. The performance was attributed to the synergistic effects of the 3D network formed by the strong π–π stacking interaction between ErGO and cMWCNT, combined with the active catalytic sites of AuNPs. Additionally, the cMWCNT provided improved electrocatalytic properties associated with the carboxyl groups that facilitate the adsorption of the DHB and the greater amount of active edge planes. The proposed GCE/ErGO-cMWCNT/AuNPs sensor showed a great potential for the simultaneous, precise, and easy-to-handle detection of DHB in complex samples with high sensitivity.

Abstract
In this proposed work, direct green 6 (DG6) decorated carbon paste electrode (CPE) was fabricated for the efficient simultaneous and individual sensing of catechol (CA) and hydroquinone (HY). Electrochemical deeds of the CA and HY were carried out by cyclic voltammetry (CV) and differential pulse voltammetry (DPV) at poly-DG6-modfied carbon paste electrode (Po-DG6-MCPE). Using scanning electron microscopy (SEM) studied the surface property of unmodified CPE (UCPE) and Po-DG6-MCPE. The decorated sensor displayed admirable electrocatalytic performance with fine stability, reproducibility, selectivity, low limit of detection (LLOD) for HY (0.11 μM) and CC (0.09 μM) and sensor process was originated to be adsorption-controlled phenomena. The Po-DG6-MCPE sensor exhibits well separated two peaks for HY and CA in CV and DPV analysis with potential difference of 0.098 V. Subsequently, the sensor was practically applied for the analysis in tap water and it consistent in-between for CA 93.25–100.16% and for HY 97.25–99.87% respectively.

Abstract
Catechol level is an important indicator for evaluating the quality of tea. Therefore, the exploration of a simple and efficient quantitative detection method for catechol has an important significance. In this study, functionalized graphene oxide was synthesized by chemically modifying the surface of graphene oxide. The prepared carrier was covalently combined with biomimetic oxidase iron porphyrin (FePP, the active center of horseradish peroxidase). Ionic liquid as covalent coupling agents was designed as electronic bridge between biomimetic oxidase and graphene oxide. The novel biomimetic biosensor provided a detection range of 50.0-1600.0 μmol/L by modulating under the optimal conditions of the reaction system (FePP concentration is 1.5 × 10-3 mol/L, pH 3.0, Nafion solution dosage 1% and temperature 25 °C), the detection limit is 0.09 μmol/L. The biosensor has excellent stability, repeatability and reproducibility, and is expected to be applied to the rapid detection of catechol in actual tea sample..
