Abstract
Phenols and phenolic compounds are major plant metabolites used in industries to produce pesticides, dyes, medicines, and plastics. These compounds enter water bodies, soil, and living organisms via such industrial routes. Some polyphenolic compounds like phenolic acids, flavonoids have antioxidant and organoleptic qualities, as well as preventive effects against neurodegenerative illnesses, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and cancer. However, many of the polyphenolic compounds, such as Bisphenol A, phthalates, and dioxins also cause major environmental pollution and endocrine disruption, once the dose level becomes objectionable. The development of reliable and rapid methods for studying their dose dependency, high-impact detrimental effects, and continuous monitoring of phenol levels in humans and environmental samples is a crucial necessity of the day. Enzymatic biosensors employing phenol oxidases like tyrosinase, peroxidase and laccase, utilizing electrochemical amperometric methods are innovative methods for phenol quantification. Enzymatic biosensing, being highly sensitive and efficacious technique, is illuminated in this review article as a progressive approach for phenol quantification with special emphasis on laccase amperometric biosensors. Even more, the review article discussion is extended up to nanozymes, composites of metal organic frameworks (MOFs), and molecularly imprinted polymers (MIPs) as some emerging species for electro-chemical sensing of phenols. Applications of phenol quantification and green biosensing are also specified. A concrete summary of the innovative polyphenol detection approaches with futuristic scope indicates a triumph over some existing constraints of the phenomenological approaches providing an informative aisle to the modern researchers towards the bulk readability.

Abstract
The present study describes an efficient method for the determination of polyphenol content in beverages based on a composite material of graphene oxide decorated with Prussian blue nanocubes (rGO/PBNCs). In this method, rGO/PBNCs act as a nanoenzyme with peroxidase-like catalytic activity and produce a colorimetric product in the presence of hydrogen peroxide and tetramethylbenzidine (TMB). To verify the effectiveness of the method, we used two model standards for antioxidants: gallic acid (GA) and tannic acid (TA). The method validation included a comparison of the performance of a natural enzyme and an artificial one (rGO/PBNCs) and two polyphenols in the analysis of commercial beverage samples. After optimization, a pH of 4, ambient temperature (22 °C), a reaction time of 2 minutes and an rGO/PBNCs concentration of 0.01 μg mL-1 were found to be the most favorable conditions. The detection limits obtained were 5.6 μmol L-1 for GA and 1.5 μmol L-1 for TA. Overall, rGO/PBNCs offer advantages over natural enzymes in terms of stability, versatility, scalability and durability, making them attractive candidates for a wide range of catalytic and sensory applications.

Abstract
Glucosamine-chitosan synthesized by the Maillard reaction was combined with montmorillonite to obtain a nanohybrid composite to immobilize horseradish peroxidase. The material combines the advantageous properties of clay with those of the chitosan derivative; has improved water solubility and reduced molecular weight and viscosity; involves an eco-friendly synthesis; and exhibits ion exchange capacity, good adhesiveness, and a large specific surface area for enzyme adsorption. The physicochemical characteristics of the composite were analyzed by infrared spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction to determine clay-polycation interactions. The electrochemical response of the different polyphenols to glassy carbon electrodes modified with the composite was evaluated by cyclic voltammetry. The sensitivity and detection limit values obtained with the biosensor toward hydroquinone, chlorogenic acid, catechol, and resorcinol are (1.6 ± 0.2) × 102 µA mM-1 and (74 ± 8) nM; (1.2 ± 0.1) × 102 µA mM-1 and (26 ± 3) nM; (16 ± 2) µA mM-1 and (0.74 ± 0.09) μM; and (3.7± 0.3) µA mM-1 and (3.3 ± 0.2) μM, respectively. The biosensor was applied to quantify polyphenols in pennyroyal and lemon verbena extracts.

Abstract
Food analysis and control are crucial aspects in food research and production in order to ensure quality and safety of food products. Electrochemical biosensors based on enzymes as the bioreceptors are emerging as promising tools for food analysis because of their high selectivity and sensitivity, short analysis time, and high-cost effectiveness in comparison to conventional methods. This review provides the readers with an overview of various electrochemical enzyme-based biosensors in food analysis, focusing on enzymes used for different applications in the analysis of sugars, alcohols, amino acids and amines, and organic acids, as well as mycotoxins and chemical contaminants. In addition, strategies to improve the performance of enzyme-based biosensors that have been reported over the last five years will be discussed. The challenges and future outlooks for the food sector are also presented.

Abstract
The possibility of using the microorganisms Pseudomonas sp. 7p-81, Pseudomonas putida BS394(pBS216), Rhodococcus erythropolis s67, Rhodococcus pyridinivorans 5Ap, Rhodococcus erythropolis X5, Rhodococcus pyridinivorans F5 and Pseudomonas veronii DSM 11331T as the basis of a biosensor for the phenol index to assess water environments was studied. The adaptation of microorganisms to phenol during growth was carried out to increase the selectivity of the analytical system. The most promising microorganisms for biosensor formation were the bacteria P. putida BS394(pBS216). Cells were immobilized in redox-active polymers based on bovine serum albumin modified by ferrocenecarboxaldehyde and based on a composite with a carbon nanotube to increase sensitivity. The rate constants of the interaction of the redox-active polymer and the composite based on it with the biomaterial were 193.8 and 502.8 dm3/(g·s) respectively. For the biosensor created using hydrogel bovine serum albumin-ferrocene-carbon nanotubes, the lower limit of the determined phenol concentrations was 1 × 10-3 mg/dm3, the sensitivity coefficient was (5.8 ± 0.2)∙10-3 μA·dm3/mg, Michaelis constant KM = 230 mg/dm3, the maximum rate of the enzymatic reaction Rmax = 217 µA and the long-term stability of the bioanalyzer was 11 days. As a result of approbation, it was found that the urban water phenol content differed insignificantly, measured by creating a biosensor and using the standard photometric method.

Abstract
With the rapid development of industrial society, phenolic pollutants already identified in water are severe threats to human health. Traditional detection techniques like chromatography are poor in the ability of cost-effectiveness and on-site detection. In recent years, electrochemical enzymatic biosensors have attracted increasing attention for use in the recognition of phenolic compounds, which is considered an effective strategy for the product transfer of portable analytical devices. Although electrochemical enzymatic biosensors provide a fast, accurate on-site detection technique, the difficulties of enzyme deactivation, poor stability and low sensitivity remain to be solved. Thus, effective immobilization methods of enzymes and nanomaterials with excellent properties have been extensively researched to obtain a high-sensitivity and high-stability biosensing platform. Simultaneous detection of multiple phenols may become the focus of further research. In this review, we provide an overview of recent progress toward electrochemical enzymatic biosensors for the detection of phenolic compounds, including enzyme immobilization approaches and advanced nanomaterials, especially nanocomposites with attractive properties such as good conductivity, high specific surface area, and porous structure. We will comprehensively discuss the features and mechanisms of the main enzymes adopted in the construction of different phenolic biosensors, as well as traditional methods (e.g., adsorption, covalent bonding, entrapment, encapsulation, cross-linking) of enzyme immobilization. The most effective method is based on the properties of enzymes, supports and application objective because there is no one-size-fits-all method of enzymatic immobilization. The emphasis will be given to various advanced nanomaterials, including their special nanostructures, preparation methods and performance. Finally, the main challenges in future research on electrochemical phenolic biosensors will be discussed to provide further perspectives for practical applications in dynamic and on-site monitoring. We believe this review will deliver an important inspiration for the construction of novel and high-performance electrochemical biosensors from enzyme selection to nanomaterial design for the detection of various hazardous materials. Abstract
Immobilized enzymes have drawn extensive attention due to their enhanced stability, easy separation from reaction mixture, and prominent recyclability. Nevertheless, it is still an ongoing challenge to develop potent immobilization techniques which are capable of stable enzyme encapsulation, minimal loss of activity, and modulability for various enzymes and applications. Here, microfibers with tunable size and composition were fabricated using a home-made microfluidic device. These microfibers were able to efficiently encapsulate bovine serum albumin (BSA), glucose oxidase (GOx), and horseradish peroxidase (HRP). But the physically adsorbed enzymes readily diffused into the catalytic reaction system. The leakage of enzymes could be substantially inhibited by conjugating to polyacrylic acid (PAA) and incorporating into alginate-based microfibers, enabling stable immobilization, improved recyclability, and enhanced thermostability. In addition, GOx and HRP-loaded microfibers were fabricated under the optimized conditions for the visual detection of glucose using the cascade reaction of these enzymes, showing sensitive color change to glucose with concentration range of 0-2 mM. Due to the tunability and versatility, this microfluidic-based microfiber platform may provide a valuable approach to the enzyme immobilization for the cascade catalysis and diagnoses with multiple clinical markers.
