Abstract
The lanthanum ferrite perovskite (La0.8FO) was synthesized using a citric combustion route and then modified with a porous graphitic nitride nanosheet via the wet impregnation-assisted ultrasonic method to produce La0.8FO@PgNS. Various techniques such as Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy dispersive X-ray (EDX) spectroscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), ultraviolet diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (UV-DRS), and Tauc plot analysis were employed to confirm the functional moieties, crystallinity, phase change, morphology, composition, and bandgap of La.0.8FO and La0.8FO@PgNS. La0.8FO and La0.8FO@PgNS were used for the sonophotocatalytic oxidative degradation of sulfamethoxazole (SMX) under low energy and ultrasound wave frequency in the presence of visible light. La0.8FO and La0.8FO@PgNS exhibited a sonophotocatalytic degradation capacity of 52.06 and 99.60%, respectively. Furthermore, the rate constant at the optimum condition of pH 7 and 5 mg L-1 concentration was 0.01343 and 0.01494 min-1 for La0.8FO and La0.8FO@PgNS, respectively. The integration of sonolysis and photocatalysis in the remediation process of SMX resulted in a synergy of 2.5-fold. Ultrasonic waves and hydroxyl and superoxide radicals are the main species governing the degradation process while La0.8FO@PgNS was stable over 8 cycles, proving to be a sustainable material for environmental remediation.

Abstract
Cubic nanoparticles of CeO2 were partly covered on the tetrahedron surface of γ-Bi2O3 through a hydrothermal reaction and then a calcination process to construct a novel S-type γ-Bi2O3/CeO2 heterojunction. The optimized sample removed 96% of lomefloxacin and 81% of tetracycline. During the cycling test, the photocatalytic efficiency of lomefloxacin and tetracycline was maintained above 87% and 80%, respectively, for five consecutive cycles. According to XRD and Raman spectra characterization, the sample after cycling held a stable crystal structure. Holes, OH-˙, O2˙, and electrons participated in the degradation of lomefloxacin, while tetracycline was removed via the effect of the former three active substances. Based on theoretical calculation and experimental tests, the excellent photocatalytic activity of γ-Bi2O3/CeO2 came from the fast transfer of charge carriers along the S-type path. Moreover, the CB electrons of γ-Bi2O3 and VB holes of CeO2 were preserved to generate free radicals for antibiotic degradation. The colony numbers of Escherichia coli were 1.50 × 10-6 CFU mL-1 and 1.39 × 10-6 CFU mL-1 in solutions after the degradation of the two pollutants, which represents the non-toxicity of the final products. The γ-Bi2O3/CeO2 sample has a potential application for antibiotic removal from modern sewage.

Abstract
In recent years, the response of new porous materials to visible light and their potential applications in wastewater treatment has received extensive attention from the scientific community. Metal Organic Frameworks (MOFs) and Covalent Organic Frameworks (COFs) have been the focus of attention due to their strong visible light absorption, high specific surface area, well-regulated pore structures, and diverse topologies. In this study, a novel MOF@COF composite with a high surface area, high crystallinity, and structural stability was obtained using the covalent bond formation strategy from COF-JLU19 and NH2-MIL-88B(Fe). Under visible light irradiation, the degradation of tetracycline hydrochloride by this material reached more than 90% within 10 min and was completely degraded within 30 min, which exceeded the degradation rate of individual materials. Remarkably, the catalytic activity decreased by less than 5% even after five degradation cycles, indicating good structural stability. The excellent photocatalytic performance of the NM88(DB)@COF-JLU19 hybrids was attributed to the formation of covalent bonds, which formed a non-homogeneous interface that facilitated effective charge separation and promoted the generation of hydroxyl radicals.

Abstract
Antibiotic pollution in water is a growing threat to public health and the environment, leading to the spread of antimicrobial-resistant bacteria. While photocatalysis has emerged as a promising technology for removing antibiotics from water, its limited efficiency in the visible light range remains a challenge. In this study, we present a novel method for the photocatalytic degradation of tetracycline, the second most commonly used antibiotic worldwide, using α-Fe2O3/TiO2 nanocomposites synthesized via rapid sonochemical and wet impregnation methods. The nanocomposites were characterised and tested using a range of techniques, including BET, TEM, FTIR, XRD, FESEM, EDS, and UV-Vis. The RSM-CCD method was also used to optimize the degradation process by varying four key variables (initial concentration, photocatalyst quantity, irradiation time, and pH). The resulting optimized conditions achieved a remarkable degradation rate of 97.5%. We also investigated the mechanism of photodegradation and the reusability of the photocatalysts, as well as the effect of light source operating conditions. Overall, the results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed approach in degrading tetracycline in water and suggest that it may be a promising, eco-friendly technology for the treatment of water contaminated with antibiotics.

Abstract
The key to obtain effective photocatalysts is to increase the efficiency of light energy conversion, and thus the design and implementation of full-spectrum photocatalysts is a potential approach to solve this problem especially by extending the absorption range to near-infrared (NIR) light. Herein, the improved full-spectrum responsive CuWO4/BiOBr:Yb3+,Er3+ (CW/BYE) direct Z-scheme heterojunction was prepared. The CW/BYE with CW mass ratio of 5% had the best degradation performance, and the removal rate of tetracycline reached 93.9% in 60 min and 69.4% in 12 h under visible (Vis) and NIR light, respectively, which were 5.2 and 3.3 times of BYE. According to the outcome of experimental, the reasonable mechanism of improved photoactivity was put forward on the basis of (i) the up-conversion (UC) effect of Er3+ ion to convert NIR photon to ultraviolet or visible light, which can be used by CW and BYE, (ii) the photothermal effect of CW to absorb the NIR light, increasing the local temperature of photocatalyst particle to accelerate the photoreaction, and (iii) the formed direct Z-scheme heterojunction between BYE and CW to boost the separation of photogenerated electron-hole pairs. Additionally, the excellent photostability of the photocatalyst was verified by cycle degradation experiments. This work opens up a promising technique for designing and synthesizing full-spectrum photocatalysts by utilizing synergetic effects of UC, photothermal effect and direct Z-scheme heterojunction.

Abstract
Industrial effluents containing dyes are the dominant pollutants, making the drinking water unfit. Among the dyes, methylene orange (MO) dye is mutagenic, carcinogenic and toxic to aquatic organisms. Therefore, its removal from water bodies through effective and economical approach is gaining increased attention in the last decades. Photocatalytic degradation has the ability to convert economically complex dye molecules into non-toxic and smaller species via redox reactions, by using photocatalysts. g-C3N4 is a metal-free n-type semiconductor, typical nonmetallic and non-toxici polymeric photocatalyst. It widely used in photocatalytic materials, due to its easy and simple synthesis, fascinating electronic band structure, high stability and abundant availability. As a photocatalyst, its major drawbacks are its limited efficiency in separating photo-excited electron-hole pairs, high separated charge recombination, low specific surface area, and low absorption coefficient. In this review, we report the recent modification strategies adopted for g-C3N4 for the efficient photodegradation of MO dye. The different modification approaches, such as nanocomposites and heterojunctions, as well as doping and defect introductions, are briefly discussed. The mechanism of the photodegradation of MO dye by g-C3N4 and future perspectives are discussed. This review paper will predict strategies for the fabrication of an efficient g-C3N4-based photocatalyst for the photodegradation of MO dye.
