Abstract
In order to mitigate the risk of excessive heavy metal intake, a study was conducted to assess the levels of arsenic (As), cadmium (Cd), chromium (Cr), and lead (Pb) contamination in 23 edible seafood species obtained from markets in Haikou. The findings were analyzed to evaluate the potential health hazards posed to the local population through consumption. The metals were detected via inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS) for quantification. The non-carcinogenic and carcinogenic health risks in humans were assessed via target hazard quotient (THQ), combined target hazard quotient (CTHQ), and target cancer risk (TR). The results indicated that the rank order based on the median metal concentration was As > Cd > Cr > Pb. THQ and CTHQ showed that nine seafood species posed a non-carcinogenic risk regarding from As and Cd consumption separately, or the four targeted metals ingestion together. TR assessment indicated that the InAs in all the species presented a carcinogenic risk to coastal residents. The Cd content in bivalves, algae, and several crustacean (Mantis Shrimp, Orchid Crab, Red spot Swimming Crab) and fish species (Japanese Scad, Pacific Saury), and Cr levels in most bivalve species (Razor Clams, White Clams, Fan Shells, Oysters, Blood Clams) presented a carcinogenic risk. The As, Cd, Pb, and Cr levels of seafood in Haikou were assessed species presented a potential health risk. Necessitating stricter risk should be management and detection capability and monitoring will be improved.

Abstract
This study investigates Pb, Cd, and Cr in the suspended particulate matter (SPM), sediments, and green mussels from Cilincing and Kamal Muara, Jakarta Bay and estimates their potential human health risks. The results showed that the metal levels in SPM from Cilincing ranged from 0.81 to 1.69 mg/kg for Pb and 2.14 to 5.31 mg/kg for Cr, while in Kamal Muara ranged from 0.70 to 3.82 mg/kg for Pb and 1.88 to 4.78 mg/kg dry weight for Cr. The levels of Pb, Cd, and Cr in sediments from Cilincing ranged from 16.53 to 32.51 mg/kg, 0.91 to 2.52 mg/kg; and 0.62 to 1.0 mg/kg whereas in Kamal Muara ranged from 8.74 to 8.81 mg/kg; 0.51 to 1.79 mg/kg, and 0.27 to 0.31 mg/kg dry weight, respectively. The levels of Cd and Cr of green mussels in Cilincing ranged from 0.014 to 0.75 mg/kg and 0.003 to 0.11 mg/kg; while in Kamal Muara ranged from 0.015 to 0.073 mg/kg and 0.01 to 0.04 mg/kg wet weight, respectively. Pb was not detected in all samples of green mussels. The Pb, Cd, and Cr levels in the green mussels were still below the permissible limits set by international standards. However, the Target Hazard Quotient (THQ) for adult and children in several samples were higher than one indicating potential noncarcinogenic effects to consumers due to Cd accumulation. To reduce the detrimental effects of metals, we suggest maximum mussel consumption of 0.65 kg for adults and 0.19 kg for children in a week based on the highest level of metals.

Abstract
It is known that the consumption of fish is the main source of mercury intake in human beings. In this study, the concentration of mercury in the muscle tissue of fish from different reservoirs of northwestern Russia was found to be 0.01-1.68 μg/g wet weight. The features of mercury accumulation in the muscle tissue of fish, depending on their type, trophic specialization, body weight, length, and the type of water body, were also revealed. Of the fish studied, 7% had mercury concentrations above the regulatory levels of the Russian Federation. The proportion of examined fish, the consumption of which will lead to an excess of the permissible weekly intake of mercury in the individual, is 44% for preschool children (2-5 years old), 34% for children of primary school age (6-10 years old), and 17% for adults. Special attention is drawn to the fact that the mercury content in fish that does not exceed the sanitary and hygienic standards (normative levels) of the Russian Federation may still be unsafe for the health of the population, especially children.

Abstract
In this study selected marine species from north Persian Gulf ecosystems were collected to investigate the concentration of 15 trace elements (Al, As, Co, Cr, Cu, Fe, Li, Mo, Ni, Pb, Se, Sr, V, Zn and Hg) in muscle and liver tissues for the purpose of evaluating potential health risks for human consumers. The results indicated that Fe, Zn, Sr, Cu and As are the most abundant TEs in the tissues of the species. The concentration of Cu in P. semisulcatus and As in most investigated species pose the highest risk of exposure. The carcinogenic risk values indicate that As and Ni concentrations in the species are above the acceptable lifetime risk for adults and children in most of the species. The margin of exposure risk approach indicated that the risk of detrimental effects due to dietary Pb intake for age groups is low, except for consumers of T. tonggol.

Abstract
Selected potentially toxic elements (PTEs), including As, Cd, Co, Cr, Cu, Hg, Ni, Pb, Se, and Zn, along with microplastic particles (MPs) were characterized in the muscle of seafood species in order to study potential health risk and also investigate biomagnification of the contaminants. The results revealed high levels of the analyzed PTEs and MPs in crustaceans. The cancer risk among the consumer population (adult and children) posed by As is higher than the acceptable lifetime risk of 10-4. Portunus plagicus and Platycephalus indicus had the highest and lowest amount of MP particles in their muscles, respectively, among investigated species. Finally, PTEs (except Hg) and MPs are not biomagnified in the collected species. The results of this research emphasize the importance of accounting for health risks posed by potential pollutants via consumption of contaminated seafood.

Abstract
An assessment is made of published data on concentrations of four toxic trace elements arsenic (As), cadmium (Cd), lead (Pb), mercury (Hg), and methyl mercury (MeHg) in seafood species from Algerian coastal waters. The data relate mainly to fish and mollusks, with Pb and Cd being the most studied elements. In contrast, no studies were found for As and MeHg in mollusks and crustaceans, and none for total Hg in crustaceans. Data analysis has shown that the element concentrations depend on the element analyzed, in particular its chemical form, and they vary with the species studied and the area where the organisms were sampled. As concentrations in muscle of sardine (Sardina pilchardus) from the eastern zone (Bejaia) (2.98 mg kg-1 wet weight), Pb in muscle of tuna (Euthynnus alletteratus) (0.49 mg kg-1 wet weight) from the western region (Mostaganem) and in muscle tissue of the mussel (Mytilus galloprovincialis) (10.67 mg kg-1 dry weight) from Oran all exceed the threshold risk limits set by national and international regulations. Given these findings, to guarantee seafood safety for the Algerian consumer, it is recommended to carry out monitoring of these trace elements in seafood species caught along the Algerian coast, particularly the most consumed fish, i.e., sardines, and predators such as swordfish and tuna which can accumulate high concentrations of toxic metals, particularly Hg. Obtaining a regional assessment based on similar analyses from Tunisia and Morocco was severely hampered since few similar species or taxonomic groups were analyzed in all three countries.

Abstract
The potentially toxic elements (PTEs) concentrations in water and sediments were measured in the Hoor Al-Azim wetland to evaluate the spatial distribution, pollution rate, fate, partitioning, and ecological risk and also to recognize the PTEs sources in sediments using MLR-APCs (multiple linear regression-absolute principal component scores) receptor model. The human health risk was investigated based on the seven fish species consumed in the study area. Based on the results, water and sediment contamination was observed at some stations in the southern part of the wetland where agricultural water drains. Also, the sediments of oil well drilling disposal site was polluted by PTEs. Based on the MLR-APCs model, 80.8% of Mo and 81.5% of Se originated from agricultural source. Total target hazard quotients (TTHQ) values suggested that the children could experience adverse health effects due to consumption of Coptodon zillii, Aspius vorax, Carassius auratus and Carasobarbus luteus.
