Abstract
Ptaquiloside, a naturally occurring cancer-causing substance in bracken fern, has been detected in the meat and milk of cows fed a diet containing bracken fern. A rapid and sensitive method for the quantitative analysis of ptaquiloside in bracken fern, meat, and dairy products was developed using the QuEChERS method and liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry. The method was validated according to the Association of Official Analytical Chemists guidelines and met the criteria. A single matrix-matched calibration method with bracken fern has been proposed, which is a novel strategy that uses one calibration for multiple matrices. The calibration curve ranged from 0.1 to 50 µg/kg and showed good linearity (r2 > 0.99). The limits of detection and quantification were 0.03 and 0.09 µg/kg, respectively. The intraday and interday accuracies were 83.5-98.5%, and the precision was <9.0%. This method was used for the monitoring and exposure assessment of ptaquiloside in all routes of exposure. A total of 0.1 µg/kg of ptaquiloside was detected in free-range beef, and the daily dietary exposure of South Koreans to ptaquiloside was estimated at up to 3.0 × 10-5 µg/kg b.w./day. The significance of this study is to evaluate commercially available products in which ptaquiloside may be present, to monitor consumer safety.

Abstract
Ferns are one of the prevalent species of wild edible plants but one of the least explored terrestrial plants. Therefore, the aim of this study was to assess the nutrient composition, polyphenol profile and antioxidative properties of four wild edible ferns commonly utilized in northeastern China. We studied the content of ash, polysaccharide, protein, fat and mineral elements of the samples. Furthermore, the samples were found to have good total phenolic and total flavonoid contents and some level of antioxidant capacity as determined by 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH), 2,2'-azino-bis(3-ethylbenzothiazoline) 6-sufonic acid (ABTS) and ferric reducing antioxidant power (FRAP). They also exhibited different specific accumulation of polyphenol profiles, estimated by liquid chromatography/mass spectrometry (LC/MS). Significance analysis revealed a significant correlation between individual phenolic compounds and the antioxidant activity of the ferns. The results of the study suggest that wild edible ferns are rich in nutritional value and have potential as a natural source of antioxidants.

Abstract
An intelligent chemometric second-order calibration method called alternating trilinear decomposition- assisted multivariate curve resolution combined with high-performance liquid chromatography-diode array detection was used for the simultaneous quantification of nine tyrosine kinase inhibitors in three complex biological systems. The method allows simultaneous quantification of the components in different biological matrices without the need for cumbersome pre-treatment steps, complex elution conditions, and complete peak separation. Even with the varying time shift, severe peak overlap, and various unknown interferences, the proposed method can extract pure chromatographic and spectroscopic information for each analyte, while providing accurate qualitative and quantitative results of nine common tyrosine kinase inhibitors in three different biological matrices. All the drugs were eluted in 7 min. The results showed that the nine drugs in each matrix showed good linearity (r > 0.984) in the calibration range with a root mean square error of calibration less than 0.9 μg/mL. The average spiked recoveries of the target analytes were all in the range of 83.4-110.0%, with standard deviations less than 9.0%. Finally, the classical method was used to validate the proposed method. In comparison to the traditional method, the proposed strategy is accuracy, simultaneous, and interference-free.

Abstract
1-MCP is an ethylene inhibitor which can delay the ripening and senescence of fruits and vegetables effectively. Pteridium aquilinum var. Latiusculum (PA) is one of the wild vegetables which is famous and nutrient in China. However, the mechanism of PA preservation treated with 1-MCP has not been reported. Consequently, the effects of postharvest 1-MCP treatment on the changes in quality, energy metabolism, and membrane lipid metabolism of PA were investigated in this study. The results indicated that 1-MCP treatment could effectively inhibit the decreases in firmness, titratable acid (TA) content and the increases in weight loss rate, malondialdehyde (MDA) content, membrane permeability, and membrane lipid metabolism-related enzymes in PA. The cellular energy charge (EC) and the levels of ATP, ATP/ADP, and ATP/AMP, the activities of energy metabolism-related enzymes, NAD+, and NADH were maintained, and the decreases in unsaturated fatty acids and the ratio of unsaturated-to-saturated fatty acids in the membrane of PA cells were effectively retarded by 1-MCP treatment. A positive correlation was observed between cellular ATP levels and the ratio of unsaturated-to-saturated fatty acids, while negative correlations were observed between the ratio of unsaturated-to-saturated fatty acids and both lipid peroxidation and membrane permeability. These results indicated that higher levels of energy status, unsaturated-to-saturated fatty acid ratios, and lipid metabolism in the membrane could preserve the membrane integrity of postharvest PA and effectively extend its shelf life.
