Abstract
The application of agrochemicals in citrus fruits is widely used to improve the quality of crops, increase production yields, and prolong post-harvest life. However, these substances are potentially toxic for humans and the ecosystem due to their widespread use, high stability, and bioaccumulation. Conventional techniques for determining pesticide residues in citrus fruits are chromatographic methods coupled with different detectors. However, in recent years, the need for analytical strategies that are less polluting for the environment has encouraged the appearance of new alternatives, such as sensors and biosensors, which allow selective and sensitive detection of pesticide residues in real time. A comprehensive overview of the analytical platforms used to determine pesticide residues in citrus fruits and citrus-derived products is presented herein. The review focuses on the evolution of these methods since 2015, their limitations, and possible future perspectives for improving pesticide residue determination and reducing environmental contamination.

Fabrication of magnetic magnesium oxide cleanup adsorbent for high-throughput pesticides residue analysis coupled with supercritical fluid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry. Anal Chim Acta 2023; 1265:341266. Abstract
A rapid and accurate analytical method was established for multiple pesticide residues in complex matrices based on magnetic dispersive solid phase extraction (d-SPE) and supercritical fluid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (SFC-MS/MS). To develop an efficient magnetic d-SPE method, magnetic adsorbent modified with magnesium oxide (Fe3O4-MgO) was prepared via layer-by-layer modification and used as cleanup adsorbent for removal of interferences that contain a large number of hydroxyl or carboxyl groups in the complex matrix. The obtained Fe3O4-MgO coupled with 3-(N,N-Diethylamino)-propyltrimethoxysilane (PSA) and octadecyl (C18) were used as d-SPE purification adsorbents and their dosages were systematically optimized with Paeoniae radix alba as the matrix model. Combined with SFC-MS/MS, rapid and accurate determination of 126 pesticide residues in the complex matrix was achieved. Further systematic method validation showed good linearity, satisfactory recovery, and wide applicability. The average recoveries of the pesticides at 20, 50, 80, and 200 μg kg-1 were 110, 105, 108, and 109%, respectively. The proposed method was applied to complex medicinal and edible root plants, such as Puerariae lobate radix, Platycodonis radix, Polygonati odorati rhizoma, Glycyrrhizae radix, and Codonopsis radix. The average recoveries of the pesticides at 80 μg kg-1 in these matrices were 106, 106, 105, 103, and 105%, respectively with an average relative standard deviation range of 8.24-10.2%. The results demonstrated the feasibility and wide matrix applicability of the proposed method, which is promising for pesticide residue analysis in complex samples.

Magnetic tubular nickel@silica-graphene nanocomposites with high preconcentration capacity for organothiophosphate pesticide removal in environmental water: Fabrication, magnetic solid-phase extraction, and trace detection. JOURNAL OF HAZARDOUS MATERIALS 2023; 457:131788. Abstract
Organothiophosphate pesticides (OPPs) are the most common water contaminants, significantly endangering human health and bringing serious public safety issues. Thus, developing effective technologies for the removal or trace detection of OPPs from water is urgent. Herein, a novel graphene-based silica-coated core-shell tubular magnetic nanocomposite (Ni@SiO2-G) was fabricated for the first time and used for the efficient magnetic solid-phase extraction (MSPE) of the OPPs chlorpyrifos, diazinon, and fenitrothion from environmental water. The experimental factors affecting extraction efficiency such as adsorbent dosage, extraction time, desorption solvent, desorption mode, desorption time, and adsorbent type were evaluated. The synthesized Ni@SiO2-G nanocomposites showed a higher preconcentration capacity than the Ni nanotubes, Ni@SiO2 nanotubes, and graphene. Under the optimized conditions, 5 mg of tubular nano-adsorbent displayed good linearity within the range of 0.1-1 μg·mL-1, low limits of detection (0.04-0.25 pg·mL-1), low limits of quantification (0.132-0.834 pg·mL-1), good reusability (n = 5; relative standard deviations between 1.46% and 9.65%), low dosage (5 mg), and low real detection concentration (< 3.0 ng·mL-1). Moreover, the possible interaction mechanism was investigated by density functional theory calculation. Results showed that Ni@SiO2-G was a potential magnetic material for the preconcentration and extraction of formed OPPs at ultra-trace levels from environmental water.

Abstract
A new application of graphene-type materials as an alternative cleanup sorbent in a quick, easy, cheap, effective, rugged, and safe (QuEChERS) procedure combined with GC-ECD/GC-MS/GC-MS/MS detection was successfully used for the simultaneous analysis of 12 brominated flame retardants in Capsicum cultivar samples. The chemical, structural, and morphological properties of the graphene-type materials were evaluated. The materials exhibited good adsorption capability of matrix interferents without compromising the extraction efficiency of target analytes when compared with other cleanups using commercial sorbents. Under optimal conditions, excellent recoveries were obtained, ranging from 90 to 108% with relative standard deviations of <14%. The developed method showed good linearity with a correlation coefficient above 0.9927, and the limits of quantification were in the range of 0.35-0.82 μg/kg. The developed QuEChERS procedure using reduced graphite oxide (rGO) combined with GC/MS was successfully applied in 20 samples, and the pentabromotoluene residues were quantified in two samples.
