Abstract
Arginine, due to the guanidine moiety, increases peptides' hydrophilicity and enables interactions with charged molecules, but at the same time, its presence in a peptide chain might reduce its permeability through biological membranes. This might be resolved by temporary coverage of the peptide charge by lipophilic, enzyme-sensitive alkoxycarbonyl groups. Unfortunately, such a modification of a guanidine moiety has not been reported to date and turned out to be challenging. Here, we present a new, optimized strategy to obtain arginine building blocks with increased lipophilicity that were successfully utilized in the solid-phase peptide synthesis of novel arginine vasopressin prodrugs.

Abstract
:
The palladium-catalyzed reaction of aryl halide and boronic acid for the formation
of C–C bonds so-called Suzuki–Miyaura cross-coupling reaction has many applications
in Modern Synthetic Organic Chemistry. In 2013, we emphasized the applications of
the intramolecular Suzuki cross-coupling reaction in cyclization and heterocyclization.
Due to a plethora relevant papers appeared in the chemical literature, herein, we wish to
cover by updating our previous review, the applications of the intramolecular Suzuki
cross-coupling reaction in cyclization and heterocyclization leading to various homocyclic
and heterocyclic compounds reported during a period of 2013 to 2018.

Abstract
Reactivity studies of strong organic acids based on the replacement of one or both of the oxygens in benzoic acids with the trifluoromethanesulfonamide group are reported. Novel derivatives of these types of acids were synthesized in good yields. The generated N-triflylbenzamides were further functionalized through cross-coupling and nucleophilic aromatic substitution reactions. All compounds were stable in dilute aqueous solutions. Studies of stability under acidic and basic conditions are also reported.
