Abstract
A cobalt-rhodium heterobimetallic nanoparticle (Co2Rh2/C)-catalyzed tandem reductive amination of aldehydes with nitroaromatics to sec-amines has been developed. The tandem reaction proceeds without any additives under mild conditions (1 atm H2 and 25 °C). This procedure can be scaled up to the gram scale, and the catalyst can be reused more than six times without loss of activity.

Abstract
GPR55, a G protein-coupled receptor, is an attractive target to alleviate inflammatory and neuropathic pain and treat osteoporosis and cancer. Identifying a potent and selective ligand will aid to further establish the specific physiological roles and pharmacology of the receptor. Towards this goal, a targeted library of 22 compounds was synthesized in a modular fashion to obtain structure-activity relationship information. The general route consisted of coupling a variety of p-aminophenyl sulfonamides to isothiocyanates to form acylthioureas. For the synthesis of a known naphthyl ethyl alcohol motif, route modification led to a shorter and more efficient process. The 22 analogues were analyzed for their ability to serve as agonists at GPR55 and valuable information for both ends of the molecule was ascertained.

Abstract
L-cysteine supported on an iron oxide magnetic nanoparticle was prepared by a facile and simple method. The catalyst was effectively applied to the one-pot synthesis of β-amino esters in moderate to good yield. Moreover, the magnetic organocatalyst could be readily recovered and reused up to five times without significant loss of its catalytic activity.

Abstract
Chlorodiphenylphosphine, imidazole, and molecular iodine in refluxing dichloromethane are used for the efficient preparation of amides under mild reaction conditions. This reagent system also shows excellent selectivity for mono-N-alkylation of amines with alcohols. In this system, the resulting phosphorus byproduct (diphenylphosphinic acid) is easily removed by extraction using an aqueous basic solution in the workup processes, which avoids the tedious and time-consuming chromatographic methods.
