Abstract
A thiourea-based colorimetric sensor incorporating polyethyleneimine (PEI) and chromophoric nitrophenyl groups was synthesized and utilized for detecting various anions. Structural characterization of the sensor was accomplished using FTIR and 1H-NMR spectroscopy. The sensor's interactions and colorimetric recognition capabilities with different anions, including CI-, Br-, I-, F-, NO3-, PF6-, AcO-, H2PO4-, PO43-, and SO42-, were investigated via visual observation and UV/vis spectroscopy. Upon adding SO42-, F-, and AcO- anions, the sensor exhibited distinct color changes from colorless to yellow and yellowish, while other anions did not induce significant color alterations. UV/vis spectroscopic titration experiments conducted in a DMSO/H2O solution (9:1 volume ratio) demonstrated the sensor's selectivity toward SO42-, F-, and AcO-. The data revealed that the formation of the main compounds and anion complexes was mediated by hydrogen bonding, leading to signal changes in the nitrophenyl thiourea-modified PEI spectrum.

Selective Recognition and Reversible “Turn-Off” Fluorescence Sensing of Acetate (CH3COO−) Anion at Ppb Level Using a Simple Quinizarin Fluorescent Dye. CHEMISTRY 2022. Abstract
A simple and cost-effective optical sensing system based on quinizarin fluorescent dye (QZ) for the selective and reversible sensing of CH3COO− anions is reported. The anion binding affinity of QZ towards different anions was monitored using electronic absorption and fluorescence emission titration studies in DMSO. The UV-visible absorption spectrum of QZ showed a decrease in the intensity of the characteristic absorption peaks at λ = 280, 323, and 475 nm, while a new peak appeared at λ = 586 nm after the addition of CH3COO− anions. Similarly, the initial strong emission intensity of QZ was attenuated following titration with CH3COO− anions. Notably, similar titration using other anions, such as F−, Cl−, I−, NO3−, NO2−, and H2PO4-, caused no observable changes in both absorption and emission spectra. The selective sensing of CH3COO− anions was also reflected by a sharp visual color change from bright green to faint green under room light. Further, the binding was found to be reversible, and this makes QZ a potential optical and colorimetric sensor for selective, reversible, and ppb-level detection of CH3COO− anions in a DMSO medium.

Abstract
Abstract
A new fluorescent sensor, N-allyl-4-[(2-(3-methoxysalicylaldimino)ethylamino]-1,8-naphthalimide (HL), for Hg2+ has been developed where the Schiff base substituent acts as a recognition group. This sensor shows a large Stokes shift of 3535–4042 cm−1 and a general fluorescence quantum yield of 0.05, 249–0.11, 866 in organic solvents of different polarity as expected. It also exhibits highly selective and a sensitive response to Hg2+ (Ф
Hg+HL/Ф
HL = 2.28) over other metal ions (Na+, K+, Ca2+, Mg2+, Al3+, Pb2+, Fe3+, Ni2+, Zn2+, Cu2+, Ag+, Co2+, Cr3+, Mn2+ and Cd2+) in solution (DMF/Tris-HCl buffer, 1:1, v/v, pH = 7.2). The Hg2+-induced fluorescence enhancement at 526 nm is proportional to the concentration of Hg2+ in the range of 0.5–4.0 µm with a detection limit of 0.18 µm. Based on the fluorescence titration and a Job’s plot analysis, the metal-to-ligand ratio of the complex is 2:1 with a binding constant of 1.56 × 1012 m
−1.

Abstract
An easily accessible chemo-probe based on physical mixture of 2,4-dimethylpyrrole and 4-nitrobenzaldehyde has been developed. Based on NMR spectroscopic analysis, catalyst free formation of dipyrromethane was observed in the physical mixture of chemo-probe. The probe is utilized in effective colorimetric sensing of copper(II) ions present in environmental solutions by instantaneous appearance of red colour, even in the co-existence of various metal ions. The lowest detection limit of 2.51 μM for this chemo-probe towards copper(II) sensing is significantly lower than the WHO prescribed level (<30 μM of copper(II) ions) in potable water. The sensing mechanism is explained via rapid formation of bis(dipyrrinato)copper(II) complex, as confirmed by Jobs plot, UV-Vis spectroscopy and IR spectroscopy.

Abstract
The selective chemosensing behaviour of imidazole bisthiocarbohydrazone (IBTC) towards F- and Cu2+ are studied via colorimetric, UV-Visible, fluorescence spectra studies, and binding constants were calculated. The 1H NMR titration study strongly support that the deprotonation of IBTC followed by the hydrogen bond formation via N1H1 and N2H2 protons with fluoride ion. The fluorescence inactive IBTC-Cu complex became fluorescence active in the presence of perchlorate (ClO4-) ion. The selective detection of perchlorate ion was also explained. The F- sensing mechanism of IBTC has been investigated by Density Functional Theory (DFT) and Time-Dependent Density Functional Theory (TDDFT) methods. The theoretical outcomes well reproduce the experimental results. And it concluded the NH protons, nearby the imine group was first captured by the added F- ion and then deprotonation happened followed by the formation of hydrogen bond. The IBTC found good reversibility character with the alternative addition of Ca2+ and F-. The multi-ion detection of IBTC was used to construct the NOR, OR and INHIBITION molecular logic gates.
