Abstract
The key to heterogeneous photo-Fenton technology lies in the efficient generation of hydrogen peroxide (H2O2). Herein, a newly-designed ZnO/ZnIn2S4 composite with heterostructure is synthesized. Benefiting from the formation of built-in electric field, the recombination of photoinduced electrons and holes is suppressed and interfacial charge transfer resistance is reduced. Importantly, the embedding of ZnO in ZnIn2S4 can improve the hydrophobicity and create microscopic three-phase interface, thereby boosting the capture capability for O2 and providing the convenience for the occurrence of O2 reduction reaction. More interestingly, the existence of ZnIn2S4 in the ZnO/ZnIn2S4 composite can reduce the Gibbs free energy (ΔG) of key intermediate (OOH*) formation, which will accelerate the generation of H2O2. As a result, the ZnO/ZnIn2S4 composite displays excellent performance in photocatalytic H2O2 production, and the highest yield was about 897.6 μmol/g/h within 60 min under visible light irradiation. The transfer of photoinduced carriers follows the S-scheme type mechanism. The photogenerated holes can be captured by drug residues (i.e., diclofenac sodium) to accelerate H2O2 production, while generated H2O2 can combine with Fe2+ to construct photo-Fenton system for achieving the advanced degradation of diclofenac sodium, which was mainly related to the formation of OH•. Furthermore, generated H2O2 can be applied for performing the inactivation of pathogenic bacteria. In short, current work will provide a valuable reference for future research.

Efficient photocatalytic hydrogen peroxide production over S-scheme In 2S 3/molten salt modified C 3N 5 heterojunction. J Colloid Interface Sci 2024; 669:506-517. Abstract
Graphitic phase carbon nitride (g-C3N5), as a novel n-type metal-free material, is employed as a visible light-receptive catalyst because of its narrow band gap and abundant nitrogen. To overcome the low carrier mobility efficiency of g-C3N5, its modification by K ions was adopted. In addition, In2S3 was selected to couple with modified g-C3N5 to overcome the recombination of photogenerated e-/h+. As a novel photocatalytic material, it was proven to possess a high visible light absorption capacity and a strong H2O2 production ability (up to 3.89 mmol⋅L-1 in 2 h). Moreover, a S-scheme heterojunction structure was successfully constructed between the two materials, which was tested and confirmed to be successful in raising the photogenerated e-/h+ separation efficiency. Ultimately, the primary processes of photocatalytic H2O2 production were summarized by superoxide radical and rotating disc electron measurements. This research provides a fresh perspective for the synthesis of C3N5-based S-scheme heterojunction photocatalysts for producing H2O2.

Abstract
As a novel type of catalytic material, hollow nanoreactors are expected to bring new development opportunities in the field of persulfate-based advanced oxidation processes due to their peculiar void-confinement, spatial compartmentation, and size-sieving effects. For such materials, however, further clarification on basic concepts and construction strategies, as well as a discussion of the inherent correlation between structure and catalytic activity are still required. In this context, this review aims to provide a state-of-the-art overview of hollow nanoreactors for activating persulfate. Initially, hollow nanoreactors are classified according to the constituent components of the shell structure and their dimensionality. Subsequently, the different construction strategies of hollow nanoreactors are described in detail, while common synthesis methods for these construction strategies are outlined. Furthermore, the most representative advantages of hollow nanoreactors are summarized, and their intrinsic connections to the nanoreactor structure are elucidated. Finally, the challenges and future prospects of hollow nanoreactors are presented.

Abstract
It is of great significance to establish an effective method for removing Cr(VI) from wastewater. Herein, Fe-doped g-C3N4 (namely Fe-g-C3N4-2) was synthesized and then employed as photocatalyst to conduct the test of Cr(VI) reduction. Notably, the embedding of Fe ion in g-C3N4 can offer the Fe2+/Fe3+ redox couples, so reducing the interfacial resistance of charge transfer and suppressing the recombination of photogenerated electrons and holes. The impurity energy levels will form in g-C3N4 after the introduction of Fe ion, thereby boosting the light absorption capacity of catalyst. Thus, Fe-g-C3N4-2 showed good performance in photocatalytic Cr(VI) reduction, and the reduction efficiency of Cr(VI) can reach 39.9% within 40 min. Different with many previous studies, current work unexpectedly found that the addition of p-benzoquinone (BQ) can promote the Cr(VI) reduction, and the reduction efficiency of Cr(VI) over Fe-g-C3N4-2 was as high as 93.2% in the presence of BQ (1.5 mM). Further analyses showed that BQ can be reduced to hydroquinone (HQ) by photogenerated electrons, and UV light can also directly induce BQ to generate HQ by using H2O as the hydrogen donor. The HQ with reducing ability can accelerate the Cr(VI) reduction. In short, current work shared some novel insights into photocatalytic Cr(VI) reduction in the presence of BQ. Future research should consider possible reactions between photogenerated electrons and BQ. For the UV-induced photocatalysis, the suitability of BQ as the scavenger of O2•‒ must be given carefully consideration.

Abstract
Constructing heterostructures of dual quantum-dots (QDs) is a promising way to achieve high performance in photocatalysis, but it still faces substantial synthetic challenges. Herein, we developed an in situ transformation strategy to coassemble ZnS QDs and C QDs into dual-quantum-dot heterostructural nanofibers (ZnS/C-DQDH). Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy results revealed the formation of strong Zn-O-C bonds at the interface between ZnS QDs and C QDs, improving the separation efficiency of photogenerated charge carriers. The ZnS/C-DQDH demonstrated remarkable photocatalytic activity in H2O2 production, with generation rates of 2896.4 μmol gcat-1 h-1 without sacrificial agents and 9879.3 μmol gcat-1 h-1 with ethanol as the sacrificial agent, significantly higher than the QD counterparts and surpassed state-of-the-art photocatalysts. Moreover, due to the nanofibrous feature, ZnS/C-DQDH demonstrated excellent stability and facile recyclability. This work provides a facile and large scalable method to gain dual-quantum-dot heterostructures and a promising alternative for photocatalytic H2O2 production.

Abstract
It is of great significance to develop the effective technique to treat phenol-containing wastewater. Herein, Fe-based prussian blue analogues-derived zero valent iron (ZVI) was successfully synthesized by one-step calcination method. Owing to high specific surface area and rich active sites, ZVI-2 possessed excellent performance in charge transfer. Notably, in comparison with conventional ZVI and Fe2+, ZVI-2 can effectively activate peroxymonosulfate (PMS) for achieving rapid degradation of phenol, and the highest removal efficiency of phenol reached 94.9% within 24 min. More importantly, developed ZVI-2/PMS oxidation system with good stability displayed strong anti-interference capability. Interestingly, Fe0 loaded on the surface of ZVI-2 can efficiently break the O-O bond of PMS to generate reactive oxygen species (i.e., SO4•-, OH•, O2•- and 1O2). As main adsorption sites of PMS, the existence of oxygen vacancy promote the formation of high-valent transition metal complexes (namely ZVI-2≡Fe4+=O). Under the combined action of reactive oxygen species and ZVI-2≡Fe4+=O, phenol can be eventually degraded into CO2 and H2O. The possible degradation pathways of phenol were also investigated. Furthermore, proposed ZVI-2/PMS oxidation system displayed great potential for application in the field of wastewater treatment. All in all, current work provided a valuable reference for design and application of Fe-based catalysts in PS-AOPs.

Abstract
Photocatalytic oxygen reduction is regarded as the cleanest approach for the production of hydrogen peroxide (H2O2). Herein, oxygen-modified graphite carbon nitride (g-C3N4) with nitrogen-defect (namely g-C3N4-ND4-OM3) was synthesized by a feasible method. Owing to the existence of nitrogen vacancy and oxygen-containing functional group, the absorption bands derived from n → π* and π → π* electronic transitions were enhanced, thereby enlarging the visible light response range of catalysts. Interestingly, nitrogen-defect can capture electron and effectively suppress the recombination of photoinduced electrons and holes. More importantly, the introduction of oxygen-containing functional groups can improve the hydrophilicity of g-C3N4, which was beneficial for the adsorption of dissolved oxygen. The electrostatic potential distributions of g-C3N4-based photocatalyst structural unit were also changed after introducing nitrogen vacancy and oxygen-containing functional group, and the electron-donating ability of g-C3N4 was improved. As a result, the evolution rate of H2O2 catalyzed by g-C3N4-ND4-OM3 was as high as 146.96 μmol/g/L under visible light irradiation. The photocatalytic H2O2 generation was completed through the direct 2-e- oxygen reduction. In short, current work will share novel insights into photocatalytic H2O2 generation over g-C3N4-based catalyst.

Abstract
Photocatalytic technique is regarded as the cleanest approach for producing H2O2. Herein, two kinds of novel polyimide COFs decorated with CQDs (namely, MPa-COFs/CQDs and MNd-COFs/CQDs) were constructed by using the one-pot hydrothermal method. Due to the electron donor role of CQDs, the recombination of photoinduced electrons and holes was suppressed after the combination of polyimide COFs with CQDs. Importantly, the introduction of CQDs not only boosted the absorbing ability of polyimide COFs toward visible light but also reduced the impedance and improved the charge transfer efficiency. After CQDs were embedded into polyimide COFs, the surface hydrophilicity of catalysts was significantly improved, which provided convenience for the water oxidation reaction. Benefiting from the electron donor-acceptor interaction between polyimide COFs and CQDs, a step-by-step two-electron oxygen reduction reaction over polyimide COFs was enhanced. More interestingly, the embedding of CQDs can create a direct two-electron water oxidation reaction pathway, which played an important role in photocatalytic H2O2 generation. Meanwhile, H+ generated from water oxidation can also be used for the reduction of oxygen to form H2O2. Under the synergistic effects of water oxidation and oxygen reduction, as-prepared MPa-COFs/CQDs-2 displayed excellent performance in photocatalytic H2O2 generation, and its yield was as high as 540 μmol/g within 60 min. In short, the current work shared an effective strategy to improve the performance of polyimide COFs in photocatalytic H2O2 production.

Abstract
In this work, single-atom Zr doping is demonstrated to be an effective strategy to enhance the catalytic performance of Co3O4 toward peroxymonosulfate (PMS) by modulating electronic structure and enlarging specific surface simultaneously. The d-band center of Co sites upshifts owing to different electronegativity of Co and Zr in the bonds of Co-O-Zr confirmed by density functional theory calculations, leading to enhanced adsorption energy of PMS and strengthened electron transfer from Co(II) to PMS. The specific surface area of Zr-doped Co3O4 increases by 6 times due to the decrease of crystalline size. Consequently, the kinetic constant of phenol degradation with Zr-Co3O4 is 10 times higher than that with Co3O4 (0.31 vs. 0.029 min-1). The relative surface specific kinetic constant of Zr-Co3O4 for phenol degradation is still 2.29 times higher than that of Co3O4 (0.00660 vs. 0.00286 g m-2 min-1). In addition, the potential practical applicability of 8Zr-Co3O4 was also confirmed by practical wastewater treatment. This study provides deep insights into modifying electronic structure and enlarging specific surface area to enhance the catalytic performance.
