The Effect of Heat Treatment after Hydrothermal Reaction on the Lithium Storage Performance of a MoS2/Carbon Cloth Composite

In this study, 1T phase MoS2 nanosheets were synthesized on the surface of a carbon cloth via a hydrothermal reaction. After heat treatment, the 1T phase MoS2 was transformed into the 2H phase with a better capacity retention performance. As an anode material for lithium-ion batteries, 2H phase MoS2 on the carbon cloth surface delivers a capacity of 1075 mAh g-1 at a current density of 0.1 A g-1 after 50 cycles; while the capacity of the 1T phase MoS2 on the surface of the carbon cloth without heat treatment fades to 528 mAh g-1. The good conductivity of a carbon cloth substrate and the separated MoS2 nanosheets help to increase the capacity of MoS2 and decrease its charge transfer resistance and promote the diffusion of lithium ions in the electrode.

Selected Properties of a Zr-Containing AlSi5Cu2Mg Alloy Intended for Cylinder Head Castings

The aim of this paper was to analyze the impact of the addition of different amounts of zirconium (0.05; 0.10; 0.15 and 0.20 wt. % Zr in the form of the AlZr20 master alloy) on selected properties of AlSi5Cu2Mg aluminum alloy. This is a new alloy for cylinder head castings and has only been used for a relatively short time. The specificity of this alloy is its chemical composition—specifically the low permitted Ti content, which makes it impossible to refine the grain structure of this alloy using standard Al-Ti-B grain refiners. The aim of our ongoing research is to find a suitable alloying element that would positively mainly affect the mechanical and also physical properties of this alloy, which are crucial for complex automotive castings such as cylinder heads. The results of our research showed that increasing zirconium content had no effect on the increase in ultimate tensile strength, yield strength and hardness of as-cast samples. After T7 heat treatment, a more significant increase in UTS, YS and thermal conductivity occurred due to the precipitation of Cu- and Mg-rich strengthening precipitates. Zirconium-rich intermetallic phases were observed in the shape of separate thick needles or as a cluster of two crossed thinner needles. SEM observations showed that these phases crystallized near to the intermetallic phases based on Cu and Fe. Increasing the Zr content was accompanied by an increase in liquidus temperature, the density index and the area fraction of porosity values.

Electric Vehicles: Bibliometric Analysis of the Current State of the Art and Perspectives

In order to gain a comprehensive view of electric vehicles (EVs) technologies and understand the emphasis of current research, this study evaluated the most relevant themes related to EVs through a bibliometric analysis using the keyword “electric vehicle” as the input. The Web of ScienceTM (WoS) database was used because it is considered ideal for bibliometric analysis. The VOSviewer software was adopted as a bibliometric analysis tool to visualize the networks of authors, countries, journals and keywords. The analysis carried out on 9 November 2021 retrieved a total of 29,304 documents in the period 2000 to 2021. The results show that in the last nine years the number of publications about EVs has grown significantly. The China is the leading nation in the field of EV research, contributing the largest number of publications in the world, with the main authors and research institutions involved. The journal Energies stands out as the main publishing periodical. Keyword analysis showed that studies on EVs in the last two decades have focused on themes related to energy management and storage, infrastructure and charging systems and environmental issues. The bibliometric analysis presented provides relevant information on the main themes studied about EVs and technological advances in development.
