Abstract
The unique physicochemical properties of ionic liquids (ILs) attracted interest in their application as lubricants of micro/nano-electromechanical systems. This work evaluates the feasibility of using the protic ionic liquids [4-picH][HSO4], [4-picH][CH3SO3], [MIMH][HSO4], and [MIMH][CH3SO3] and the aprotic ILs [C6mim][HSO4] and [C6mim][CH3SO3] as additives to model lubricant poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG200) to lubricate silicon surfaces. Additives based on the cation [4-picH]+ exhibited the best tribological performance, with the optimal value for 2% [4-picH][HSO4] in PEG200 (w/w). Molecular dynamics (MD) simulations of the first stages of adsorption of the ILs at the glass surface were performed to portray the molecular behavior of the ILs added to PEG200 and their interaction with the silica substrate. For the pure ILs at the solid substrates, the MD results indicated that weak specific interactions of the cation with the glass interface are lost to accommodate the larger anion in the first contact layer. For the PEG200 + 2% [4-picH][HSO4] system, the formation of a more compact protective film adsorbed at the glass surface is revealed by a larger trans population of the dihedral angle -O(R)-C-C-O(R)- in PEG200, in comparison to the same distribution for the pure model lubricant. Our findings suggest that the enhanced lubrication performance of PEG200 with [4-picH][HSO4] arises from synergistic interactions between the protic IL and PEG200 at the adsorbed layer.

Abstract
Poly(bis(2-ethylhexyl) phosphoric) methacrylic anhydride-grafted carbon dots (CD-g-PEPMA) have been controllably synthesized and used as multifunctional lubricant additives of poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG200). The polymers on the surfaces of CD-g-PEPMA not only endow them with particularly excellent dispersion stability but also enhance their adsorbability on the steel surface and embedded stability between the rubbing surfaces. Hence, CD-g-PEPMA as an additive showed outstanding rust resistance and tribological performance. Among CD-g-PEPMA-X (X represents the polymerization time), CD-g-PEPMA-2 (X = 2 h) exhibited the best tribological performance. At the optimum c of 2.0 wt %, CD-g-PEPMA-2 reduced the coefficient of friction and wear volume of PEG200 by 60.1 and 74.0%, respectively. The striking friction-reducing and antiwear functions of CD-g-PEPMA as additives can be attributed to the synergistic lubrication effect of carbon cores and polymers. The rolling, polishing, and mending effects of carbon cores combined with the favorable adsorbability and reactivity of polymers on steel surfaces synergistically induced the formation of boundary lubrication films on wear track surfaces. The films are composed of tribochemical reaction products such as Fe2(CO3)3, Fe3C, and FePO4 embedded with carbon cores, tremendously reducing the friction and wear of the friction pair. The research results can provide substantial theoretical guidance and data support for designing and developing high-efficiency polymer-CD integrative multifunctional nanoadditives toward PEG.

Abstract
Most amino acid molecules have good water solubility and are rich in functional groups, which makes them a promising derivatizing agent for cellulose. However, self-condensation of amino acids and low reaction efficiency always happen during esterification. Here, amino acid hydrochloride ([AA]Cl) is selected as raw material to synthesize cellulose amino acid ester (CAE). Based on TG-MS coupling technology, a significantly faster reaction rate of [AA]Cl compared to raw amino acid can be observed visually. CAE with the degree of substitution 0.412-0.516 is facilely synthesized under 130-170 °C for 10-50 min. Moreover, the effects of amounts of [AA]Cl agent, temperature, and time on the esterification are studied. The CAE can be well dissolved in 7 wt% NaOH aq., resulting in a 7.5 wt% dope. The rheological test of the dope demonstrated a shear-thinning behavior for Newtonian-like fluid, and a high gel temperature (41.7 °C). Further, the synthesized products show distinct antibacterial activity and the bacteriostatic reduction rate against E. coli can reach 99.5 %.

Abstract
Antibiotic residues are being continuously recognized in the aquatic environment and in food. Though the concentration of antibiotic residues is typically low, adverse effects on the environment and human health have been observed. Hence, an efficient method to determine numerous antibiotic residues should be simple, inexpensive, selective, with high throughput and with low detection limits. Liquid-based extractions have been exceedingly used for clean-up and preconcentration of antibiotics prior to chromatographic analysis. In order to make methods more green and environmentally sustainable, conventional hazardous organic solvents can be replaced with green solvents. This review presents sampling strategies as well as comprehensive and up-to-date methods for chemical analysis of antibiotic residues in different sample matrices. Particularly, solvent-based sample preparation techniques using green solvents are discussed along with applications in antibiotic residue analysis.

Abstract
A novel aqueous two-phase extraction method has been established for the determination of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons in water sample. This method was based on the extraction of naphthalene and pyrene from water by means of choline amino acid ionic liquids aqueous two-phase system and their determination by synchronous fluorescence spectroscopy. In synchronous fluorescence spectroscopy, the fluorescence peaks of naphthalene and pyrene were completely separated to meet the requirement of simultaneous determination. For this method, good linear calibration curves of naphthalene and pyrene were obtained in the range of 0.50-10.0, 0.05-5.0 μg mL-1, respectively, and limits of detection were 0.211, 0.012 μg mL-1, respectively. The proposed method was successfully applied for the simultaneous determination of naphthalene and pyrene in water samples, which was considered as an excellent green analysis according Analytical Eco-Scale.

Abstract
Ionic liquids (ILs) have emerged as potential lubricants in 2001. Subsequently, there has been tremendous research interest in ILs from the tribology society since their discovery as novel synthetic lubricating materials. This also expands the research area of ILs. Consistent with the requirement of searching for alternative and eco-friendly lubricants, IL lubrication will experience further development in the coming years. Herein, we review the research progress of IL lubricants. Generally, the tribological properties of IL lubricants as lubricating oils, additives and thin films are reviewed in detail and their lubrication mechanisms discussed. Considering their actual applications, the flexible design of ILs allows the synthesis of task-specific and tribologically interesting ILs to overcome the drawbacks of the application of ILs, such as high cost, poor compatibility with traditional oils, thermal oxidization and corrosion. Nowadays, increasing research is focused on halogen-free ILs, green ILs, synthesis-free ILs and functional ILs. In addition to their macroscopic properties, the nanoscopic performance of ILs on a small scale and in small gaps is also important in revealing their tribological mechanisms. It has been shown that when sliding surfaces are compressed, in comparison with a less polar molecular lubricant, ion pairs resist "squeeze out" due to the strong interaction between the ions of ILs and oppositely charged surfaces, resulting in a film that remains in place at higher shear forces. Thus, the lubricity of ILs can be externally controlled in situ by applying electric potentials. In summary, ILs demonstrate sufficient design versatility as a type of model lubricant for meeting the requirements of mechanical engineering. Accordingly, their perspectives and future development are discussed in this review.
