Abstract
Hydrogen production from the decomposition of ammonia is considered an effective approach for addressing challenges associated with hydrogen storage and transportation. However, their relatively high energy consumption and low efficiency hinder practical multi-scenario applications. In this study, Y2O3-stabilized catalysts with Co-loaded onto porous nitrogen-doped carbon (Y2O3-Co/NC) are synthesized by pyrolysis of Y(NO3)3-modified ZIF-67 under an inert atmosphere, followed by annealing in a reducing environment. The introduction of Y2O3 enhanced the recombination and desorption of N atoms and facilitated the gradual dehydrogenation of NHx on the catalyst surface, resulting in improved catalytic activity for the thermal decomposition of ammonia. Benefitting from the electron-donating properties of Y2O3 and N-doped carbon, the optimized catalyst achieved a remarkable NH3 conversion efficiency of 92.3% at a high gas hourly space velocity of 20 000 cm3·g cat - 1 ${\mathrm{g}}_{{\mathrm{cat}}}^{ - {\mathrm{1}}}$ ·h-1 with an encouraging H2 production rate of 20.6 mmol·g cat - 1 ${\mathrm{g}}_{{\mathrm{cat}}}^{ - {\mathrm{1}}}$ ·min-1 at 550 °C. Moreover, the synthesized catalyst undergoes a fast-dynamic reconstruction process, resulting in exceptionally stable catalytic activity during the thermal decomposition of ammonia, rendering it a promising candidate for carbon-free energy thermocatalytic conversion technology.

Abstract
This study investigated the ammonia decomposition mechanism over Ru/CeO2. Isotopic tests using ND3 revealed that the rate-determining step involves adsorbed nitrogen atoms on Ru. Moreover, an inverse kinetic isotope effect where ND3 decomposition was faster than NH3 was clearly observed. The origin of the inverse effect was explained by the lower D coverage on the catalyst surface compared to H coverage for mitigating the inhibition of ND3 activation.

Abstract
Green hydrogen from electrolysis of water has attracted widespread attention as a renewable power source. Among several hydrogen production methods, it has become the most promising technology. However, there is no large-scale renewable hydrogen production system currently that can compete with conventional fossil fuel hydrogen production. Renewable energy electrocatalytic water splitting is an ideal production technology with environmental cleanliness protection and good hydrogen purity, which meet the requirements of future development. This review summarizes and introduces the current status of hydrogen production by water splitting from three aspects: electricity, catalyst and electrolyte. In particular, the present situation and the latest progress of the key sources of power, catalytic materials and electrolyzers for electrocatalytic water splitting are introduced. Finally, the problems of hydrogen generation from electrolytic water splitting and directions of next-generation green hydrogen in the future are discussed and outlooked. It is expected that this review will have an important impact on the field of hydrogen production from water.

Abstract
Ammonia is an energy-dense liquid hydrogen carrier and fuel whose accessible dissociation chemistries offer promising alternatives to hydrogen electrolysis, compression and dispensing at scale. Catalytic ammonia reforming has thus emerged as an area of renewed focus within the ammonia and hydrogen energy research & development communities. However, a majority of studies emphasize the discovery of new catalytic materials and their evaluation under idealized laboratory conditions. This Perspective highlights recent advances in ammonia reforming catalysts and their demonstrations in realistic application scenarios. Key knowledge gaps and technical needs for real reformer devices are emphasized and presented alongside enabling catalyst and reaction engineering fundamentals to spur future investigations into catalytic ammonia reforming.

Abstract
There is an obvious gap between efforts dedicated to the control of chemicophysical and morphological properties of catalyst active phases and the attention paid to the search of new materials to be employed as functional carriers in the upgrading of heterogeneous catalysts. Economic constraints and common habits in preparing heterogeneous catalysts have narrowed the selection of active-phase carriers to a handful of materials: oxide-based ceramics (e.g. Al2O3, SiO2, TiO2, and aluminosilicates-zeolites) and carbon. However, these carriers occasionally face chemicophysical constraints that limit their application in catalysis. For instance, oxides are easily corroded by acids or bases, and carbon is not resistant to oxidation. Therefore, these carriers cannot be recycled. Moreover, the poor thermal conductivity of metal oxide carriers often translates into permanent alterations of the catalyst active sites (i.e. metal active-phase sintering) that compromise the catalyst performance and its lifetime on run. Therefore, the development of new carriers for the design and synthesis of advanced functional catalytic materials and processes is an urgent priority for the heterogeneous catalysis of the future. Silicon carbide (SiC) is a non-oxide semiconductor with unique chemicophysical properties that make it highly attractive in several branches of catalysis. Accordingly, the past decade has witnessed a large increase of reports dedicated to the design of SiC-based catalysts, also in light of a steadily growing portfolio of porous SiC materials covering a wide range of well-controlled pore structure and surface properties. This review article provides a comprehensive overview on the synthesis and use of macro/mesoporous SiC materials in catalysis, stressing their unique features for the design of efficient, cost-effective, and easy to scale-up heterogeneous catalysts, outlining their success where other and more classical oxide-based supports failed. All applications of SiC in catalysis will be reviewed from the perspective of a given chemical reaction, highlighting all improvements rising from the use of SiC in terms of activity, selectivity, and process sustainability. We feel that the experienced viewpoint of SiC-based catalyst producers and end users (these authors) and their critical presentation of a comprehensive overview on the applications of SiC in catalysis will help the readership to create its own opinion on the central role of SiC for the future of heterogeneous catalysis.

The Effects of Promoter Cs Loading on the Hydrogen Production from Ammonia Decomposition Using Ru/C Catalyst in a Fixed-Bed Reactor. Catalysts 2021. Abstract
The hydrogen production from ammonia decomposition on commercial 5 wt.% Ru/C (C: activated carbon) catalyst with different cesium (Cs) loadings at lower temperatures of 325–400 °C in the fixed-bed reactor was experimentally investigated. Based on the parameters used in this work, the results showed that the ammonia conversion at 350 °C is increased with the increasing Cs/Ru molar ratio, and it reaches its maximum value at the Cs/Ru molar ratio of 4.5. After that, it is rapidly decreased with a further increase of Cs/Ru molar ratio, and it is even smaller than that of the pure Ru/C case at the Cs/Ru molar ratio of 6. The Cs promotion at the lower Cs/Ru molar ratios may be due to the so-called “hot ring promotion”. The possible mechanisms for Cs effects on the ammonia conversion at higher Cs/Ru molar ratio are discussed. At optimum Cs loading, the results showed that all the ammonia conversions at 400 °C are near 100% for the GHSV (gas hourly space velocity) from 48,257 to 241,287 mL/(h·gcat).
