Abstract
Four organotin(IV) carboxylate complexes; (C4H9)3SnL (1), CH3SnL (2), (C4H9)2SnL2 (3) and (CH3)2SnL2 (4) are synthesized by the condensation reaction of organotin(IV) chlorides with sodium-4-chloro-2-methylphenoxyacetate (NaL). The FT-IR spectra suggested bridging/chelating bidentate coordination of the ligand to the tin atom. Single-crystal XRD analysis authenticated the FT-IR findings for 1 and 2. The NMR study has shown no significant differences in the signals of the free and coordinated ligand except for absence of a proton and up-filed/down-field shift of the C signal of the carboxyl group in the spectra. Complexes 1-4 have shown better enzyme inhibition, antioxidant, antimicrobial, and anticancer activities compared to the free ligand acid. Complex 3 was the most active inhibitor of AChE, BChE, α-glucosidase and α-amylase with IC50 values of 43.76, 102.39, 232.71 and 91.84 µg/mL, respectively. Additionally, 3 with IC50 values of 7.52 and 8.77 µg/mL in the DPPH and ABTS assays, respectively was better antioxidant than the standard. Complex 4 was the most efficient inhibitor of MAO-B and COX-2 enzymes with IC50 values of 106.99 and 12.98 µg/mL, respectively, while 1 (IC50 = 38.97 µg/mL) has shown the highest 5-LOX inhibition potential. Complexes 1-4 with IC50 values in the range 237.51-168.35 µg/mL have shown better antileishmanial activity than HL (IC50 = 277.57 µg/mL). The compounds showed good to potent antiproliferative activity in malignant glioma U87 cells with IC50 values in the range 12.54 ± 0.05 to 37.65 ± 0.04 µg/mL. Antimicrobial activities have shown promising results for the compounds compared to the standards in some cases.

Abstract
Twelve novel organotin(iv) complexes (1-12) of N-acetylated β-amino acids (L1-L8) were synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, FTIR, multinuclear (1H, 13C, 119Sn) NMR, EI-MS and powder XRD techniques. The XRD results determined lattice parameters, average particle size, and intrinsic strain and confirmed the crystalline nature of complexes as face centered cubic phases. Molecular docking analysis using a catalytic pocket of the α-glucosidase enzyme indicated that most of the compounds displayed a well-fitted orientation and occupied important amino acids in the enzyme's catalytic pocket. Furthermore, in vitro α-glucosidase inhibitory activity results revealed that L1 and complexes 4, 6 and 10 showed the highest activity with IC50 values of 21.54 ± 0.45, 37.96 ± 0.81 and 35.20 ± 1.02, respectively, compared to standard acarbose with an IC50 value of 42.51 ± 0.21. In addition, in vivo antidiabetic activity of selected compounds using alloxan induced diabetic rabbits showed that L4 and complexes 4, 6, 10, 12 showed significant activities like standard metformin. Anti-bacterial activity against the selected Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacterial strains has the following order Escherichia coli > Pseudomonas aeruginosa > Staphylococcus aureus > Bacillus subtilis. Similarly, antioxidant activity by the DPPH scavenging method was also studied with following results: triorganotin > diorganotin > ligands.

Abstract
Organotin(IV) carboxylates are a class of compounds explored as alternatives to platinum-containing chemotherapeutics due to propitious in vitro and in vivo results, and distinct mechanisms of action. In this study, triphenyltin(IV) derivatives of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (indomethacin (HIND) and flurbiprofen (HFBP)) are synthesized and characterized, namely [Ph3Sn(IND)] and [Ph3Sn(FBP)]. The crystal structure of [Ph3Sn(IND)] reveals penta-coordination of the central tin atom with almost perfect trigonal bipyramidal geometry with phenyl groups in the equatorial positions and two axially located oxygen atoms belonging to two distinct carboxylato (IND) ligands leading to formation of a coordination polymer with bridging carboxylato ligands. Employing MTT and CV probes, the antiproliferative effects of both organotin(IV) complexes, indomethacin, and flurbiprofen were evaluated on different breast carcinoma cells (BT-474, MDA-MB-468, MCF-7 and HCC1937). [Ph3Sn(IND)] and [Ph3Sn(FBP)], unlike the inactive ligand precursors, were found extremely active towards all examined cell lines, demonstrating IC50 concentrations in the range of 0.076–0.200 µM. Flow cytometry was employed to examine the mode of action showing that neither apoptotic nor autophagic mechanisms were triggered within the first 48 h of treatment. However, both tin(IV) complexes inhibited cell proliferation potentially related to the dramatic reduction in NO production, resulting from downregulation of nitric oxide synthase (iNOS) enzyme expression.

Abstract
Organotin (IV) compounds are a focus of research for potential use in cancer chemotherapy. Here, we established anticancer profile of dibutyltin (IV) carboxylate derivatives in prostate cancer (PCa) model. We determined cytotoxicity of a library of dibutyltin (IV) carboxylate derivatives and observed that dibutylstannanediyl (2Z,2'Z)-bis(4-(benzylamino)-4-oxobut-2-enoate (Ch-620; 10 μM) was minimally toxic to normal fibroblasts. Ch-620 (1-1.25 μM) inhibited proliferation of PCa and melanoma cells on short- and long-term exposures with induction of cell cycle arrest. Ch-620 treatment increased population of apoptotic cells, as assessed by flow cytometry, and activated caspase 3. Proteomics showed activation of PPARα, with repression of SMAD4 and integrin β5 (ITGB5) in Ch-620-treated PCa cells. Further analysis demonstrated that Ch-620 resulted in phosphorylation of p38 MAPK, upregulation of PPARα and decreased expression of SMAD4 and ITGB5 with reduced migration of PCa cells. In vivo studies in PC3M grafted athymic nude mice showed that Ch-620 (5 μg/week; 7 weeks) treatment reduced tumor growth as opposed to untreated controls. Immunoblot analysis of tumors demonstrated upregulated p-p38 MAPK and PPARα, followed by a decline in SMAD4 and ITGB5. Immunohistochemistry reinforced these results with increased caspase 3 and p-p38 MAPK and diminished Ki67 staining in Ch-620 treated animals. Taken together, our data indicate that Ch-620 inhibited proliferation of PCa through modulation of MAPK/PPARα/SMAD4 signaling. Organotin (IV) carboxylate compounds; specifically Ch-620 can be a potential anticancer agent for the treatment of PCa subject to detailed pre-clinical and clinical investigations. This unlocks prospects for the development of new tin-based drugs in cancer therapeutics.

Abstract
Four new carboxylates complexes with general formula R2SnL2 and R3SnL, where R = n-butyl (1, 3), methyl (2, 4) and L = 4-Chlorophenoxyacetate, were synthesized in significant yields. FT-IR analysis revealed a chelating (1 and 2) and a bridging bidentate (3 and 4) coordination modes for the carboxylate ligand in solid state which was further confirmed by the single crystal X-ray analysis of complex 4. The NMR data (1H, 13C and 119Sn) revealed a higher coordination number around the tin center in R2SnL2 (1 and 2) compared to R3SnL (3 and 4). A close matching was observed between the experimental and calculated structures (obtained at B3LYP/6-31G* + LANL2DZ basis set). Quantum chemical analysis indicates that the carboxylate moiety has the major contribution in the formation of filled and unfilled orbitals as well as in ligand to ligand intramolecular charge transfer during the electronic transitions. The cytotoxicity data of the screened compounds evaluated against lung cancer cell line (A549) and normal lung fibroblast cell line (MRC-5) revealed that 1, 3 and 4 have shown dose dependent cytotoxic effects while HL and 2 have shown steady and low cytotoxic activities. The antibacterial activity of complexes 1–4 is higher than that of HL. Molecular docking study showed an intercalation binding mode for complex 3 with DNA (docking score = −3.6005) involving four polar interactions. Complex 3 docking with tubulin (PDB ID 1SA0) with colchicine as a target protein resulted in three polar interactions (docking score −5.2957). Further, the docking analysis of the HL and 1–4 has shown an adequate interactions with the coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 spike protein, nucleocapsid protein and human angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE2).

Abstract
Organometallic complexes are an important class of synthetic reagents and are of
great interest due to their versatility and wide biological application. The cationic nature of the
coordination nucleus facilitates its interaction with biological molecules such as amino acids,
proteins, and nucleic acids. The functionalization of peptides or amino acids with organometallic
motifs is a novel strategy for the design and development of molecules with greater biological
activity, stability in biological environments, and selectivity for specific targets, which
make them valuable tools for designing and obtaining molecules with therapeutic applications.
The physicochemical properties of ferrocene make it ideal for drug development, due to its
structure, stability in aqueous solutions, redox properties, and low toxicity. In the same way,
organotin (IV) derivatives have great potential for drug development because of their multiple
biological activities, wide structural versatility, high degree of stability, and low toxicity.
However, the synthesis of these drugs based on organometallic molecules containing ferrocene or organotin (IV) is
quite complex and represents a challenge nowadays; for this reason, it is necessary to design and implement procedures
to obtain molecules with a high degree of purity, in sufficient quantities, and at low cost. This review describes
the strategies of synthesis used up to now for the preparation of organometallic amino acids and peptides
containing ferrocene or organotin (IV) derivates, as well as their impact on the development of therapeutic agents.

Abstract
In this study, the spectroscopic methods (UV-vis, fluorimetric), Atomic force microscopy, and computational studies (molecular docking and molecular dynamic simulation) were used to investigate the interaction of [SnMe2Cl2(Me2phen)] complex with CT-DNA in the presence of glucose. The results showed the complex in the medium containing glucose has less effect on calf thymus DNA (ct-DNA) than the medium without glucose. Cytotoxicity of [SnMe2Cl2(Me2phen)] complex on MCF-7 cells was examined and showed Sn(IV) complex possesses potential cytotoxicity against this cell line. Molecular docking study showed that Sn(IV) complex interacts with DNA by groove binding mode. Radius of gyration (Rg) was smaller upon binding of the Sn(IV) complex suggesting a more compact structure of DNA in the presence of Sn(IV) complex.Communicated by Ramaswamy H. Sarma.

Abstract
Organotins(IV) exhibit significant in vitro anti-proliferative activity, while the in vivo tests are encouraging. The recent reports on the anti-proliferative activity of organotin(IV) compounds are summarized in this review. The period covered by this work goes back to 2009 until late 2018, while the earlier ones, are included over the previous review of our group published by S.K. Hadjikakou, N. Hadjiliadis, in Coord Chem Rev, 253 (2009) 235-249. During the last decade (2009-2018), >300 organotin(IV) derivatives with oxygen-donor ligands, such as carboxylic acids, amino-acids, Non Steroidal Anti-inflammatory Drugs (NSAIDs), biological active derivatives or natural products, organotins(IV) with sulfur containing ligands such as thiones, thiosemicarbazones, dithiocarbamates, organotin(IV) compounds of oximes and organotins(IV) with amines or semicarbazones were screened for their anti-proliferative effect against various cancer cell lines and their results are included in numerous reports over this period. Although much work has been carried out on organotin(IV) derivatives with O-donor ligands, however significant fewer reports are found on organotins(IV) with oximes as ligands.

Design and In Vitro Biological Evaluation of a Novel Organotin(IV) Complex with 1-(4-Carboxyphenyl)-3-ethyl-3-methylpyrrolidine-2,5-dione. J CHEM-NY 2019. Abstract
A novel triphenyltin(IV) compound with 1-(4-carboxyphenyl)-3-ethyl-3-methylpyrrolidine-2,5-dione was synthesized and characterized by IR, NMR spectroscopy, mass spectrometry, and elemental analysis. In vitro anticancer activity of ligand precursor and synthesized organotin(IV) compound was determined against tumor cell lines: human adenocarcinoma (HeLa), human myelogenous leukemia (K562), and human breast cancer (MDA-MB-453), using microculture tetrazolium test (MTT) assay. The results indicate that complex exhibited very high antiproliferative activity against all tested cell lines with IC50 values in the range of 0.22 to 0.53 µM. The highest activity organotin(IV) compound expressed against the HeLa cells (IC50 = 0.22 ± 0.04 µM). The ligand precursor did not show anticancer activity (IC50 > 200 µM). Furthermore, fluorescence microscopy analysis of HeLa cells reveal that organotin(IV) complex induced apoptosis as a mode of cell death, which is consistent with the increase of cells in the sub-G1 phase.
