Abstract
Heteroleptic, bimetallic (Mg/K) cyclopentadienyl complexes (2-4) were synthesized by the reaction of the Mg-Mg-bonded compound [K(THF)3]2[LMg-MgL] (1, L = [(2,6-iPr2C6H3)NC(CH3)]22-) with cyclopentadiene derivatives, 6,6-dimethylfulvene, 6-(dimethylamino)fulvene, or 1,2,3,4-tetramethyl-1,3-cyclopentadiene. The reactions proceed through diverse pathways, including hydrogen abstraction, C-C coupling, and dehydrogenation, depending on the property of the polyene substrate, thus providing an access to alkali/alkaline earth metal cyclopentadienyl complexes.

Abstract
We report the extension of the common β-diketimine proligand class, RArnacnacH (HC(RCNAr)2H), where R is an alkyl group such as Et or iPr, plus Ph, and Ar is a sterically demanding aryl substituent such as Dip = 2,6-diispropylphenyl, Dep = 2,6-diethylphenyl, Mes = 2,4,6-trimethylphenyl or mesityl, Xyl = 2,6-dimethylphenyl, via one-pot condensation procedures. When a condensation reaction is carried out using the chemical dehydrating agent PPSE (polyphosphoric acid trimethylsilylester), β-diketiminate phosphorus(V) products such as (iPrMesnacnac)PO2 can also be obtained, which can be converted to the respective proligand iPrMesnacnacH via alkaline hydrolysis. The RArnacnacH proligands can be converted to their alkali metal complexes with common methods and we have found that deprotonation of iPrDipnacnacH is significantly more sluggish than that of related β-diketimines with smaller backbone alkyl groups. The basicity of the RArnacnac- anions can play a role in the success of their salt metathesis chemistry and we have prepared and structurally characterised the EtDipnacnac-derived silicon(II) compounds (EtDipnacnac)SiBr and (EtDipnacnac')Si, where EtDipnacnac' is the deprotonated variant MeCHC(NDip)CHC(NDip)Et.

Abstract
The electron-rich cyclopentadienyl and the analogous indenyl and fluorenyl ligands (collectively denoted here as Cp') have been impactful in stabilizing electron-deficient metal centers including the highly electropositive alkaline earths. Being in the s-block, the group 2 metals follow a major periodic variation in their atomic and ionic properties which is reflected in those Cp' compounds. This article presents an overview of this class of compounds for all the five metals from beryllium to barium (radium is excluded for its radioactivity), highlighting their systematic variation.

Abstract
A novel sterically demanding bis(4-benzhydryl-benzoxazol-2-yl)methane ligand 6 (4-BzhH2 BoxCH2 ) was gained in a straightforward six-step synthesis. Starting from this ligand monomeric [M(4-BzhH2 BoxCH)] (M=Na (7), K (81 )) and dimeric [{M(4-BzhH2 BoxCH)}2 ] (M=K (82 ), Rb (9), Cs (10)) alkali metal complexes were synthesised by deprotonation. Abstraction of the potassium ion of 8 by reaction with 18-crown-6 resulted in the solvent separated ion pair [{(THF)2 K@(18-crown-6)}{bis(4-benzhydryl-benzoxazol-2-yl)methanide}] (11), including the energetically favoured monoanionic (E,E)-(4-BzhH2 BoxCH) ligand. Further reaction of 4-BzhH2 BoxCH2 with three equivalents KH and two equivalents 18-crown-6 yielded polymeric [{(THF)2 K@(18-crown-6)}{K@(18-crown-6)K(4-Bzh BoxCH)}]n (n→∞) (12) containing a trianionic ligand. The neutral ligand and herein reported alkali complexes were characterised by single X-ray analyses identifying the latter as a promising precursor for low-valent main group complexes.

Abstract
Homoleptic LiNacNac forms simple donor-acceptor complexes with N,N'-dicyclohexylcarbodiimide (CyN═C═NCy), triphenylphosphine oxide (Ph3P═O), and benzophenone (Ph2CO). These crystallographically characterized compounds could be regarded as model intermediates en route to reducing the N═C, P═O, and C═O bonds of unsaturated substrates. Heteroleptic NacNacMg(TMP) intriguingly functions as a TMP nucleophile both with t-BuNCO and t-BuNCS, producing a urea or thiourea derivative respectively attached to Mg, though the NacNac ligand in the former reaction also engages noninnocently with a second t-BuNCO molecule via insertion at the reactive NacNac backbone γ-carbon site.

Abstract
Despite the routine employment of Grignard reagents and Hauser bases as stoichiometric carbanion reagents in organic and inorganic synthesis, a defined reaction chemistry encompassing the heavier elements of Group II (M = Ca, Sr and Ba) has, until recently, remained unreported. This article provides details of the recent progress in heavier Group II catalysed small molecule transformations mediated by well-defined heteroleptic and homoleptic complexes of the form LMX or MX
2
; where L is a mono-anionic ligand and X is a reactive σ-bonded substituent. The intra- and intermolecular heterofunctionalization (hydroamination, hydrophosphination, hydrosilylation and hydrogenation) of alkenes, alkynes, dienes, carbodiimides, isocyanates and ketones is discussed.
