Synthesis, structural characterization and in vitro antiproliferative effects of novel organotin(iv) compounds with nicotinate and isonicotinate moieties on carcinoma cells

Novel triorganotin(iv) nicotinates and isonicotinates were successfully synthesized and fully characterized. The preliminary results for their in vitro antiproliferative activity against the mouse colon carcinoma C26 cell line are also reported.

Novel mono- and bimetallic organotin(iv) compounds as potential linkers for coordination polymers

Organotin(iv) compounds might be used as linkers for building coordination polymers as suggested by the isolation of [{2-(OCH)C₆H₄}Me₂SnO(O)CC₅H₄N-4]ZnTPP.

Di(imino)aryltin(IV) dichlorides as tectons for heterometallic coordination compounds

Hydrolysis of [2-{(CH2O)2CH}C6H4]2SnCl2 (1) [prepared from 2-[(CH2O)2CH]C6H4MgBr and SnCl4, in 2 : 1 molar ratio] gave [2-(O=CH)C6H4]2SnCl2 (2). Treatment of with the appropriate amine, in the absence of a solvent or catalyst, resulted in the isolation in high yields of [2-(RN[double bond, length as m-dash]CH)C6H4]2SnCl2 [R = 2'-C10H7 (3), 2',4',6'-Me3C6H2 (4), PhCH2 (5), Me2NCH2CH2 (6), 2'-PyCH2 (7)]. The reaction of with [Pd(COD)Cl2] provided the heterometallic species [Cl2Pd{2-(2'-PyCH2N[double bond, length as m-dash]CH)C6H4}2SnCl2] (8). The compounds were characterised by multinuclear NMR spectroscopy in solution, and mass spectrometry and IR spectroscopy in the solid state. The molecular structures of 1, 2, 4-7 and 8·CH3CN were established by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. For all diorganotin(IV) dichlorides intramolecular O→Sn or Nimine→Sn coordination results in hypercoordinated species with a distorted octahedral (C,E)2SnCl2 core (E = O, N). The presence of intramolecular N→Sn interactions in solution, responsible for the restriction of free rotation of mesityl groups around the C-N(=C) single bonds, is suggested by (1)H and (13)C NMR data. In the heterometallic dinuclear complex 8 the octahedral coordination around tin is preserved as in 7 and the nitrogen atoms from the pyridyl groups in the pendant arms are coordinated to palladium, leading to a trans-square planar PdCl2N2 core.

Intramolecular chalcogen-tin interactions in [(o-MeEC6H4)CH2]2SnPh(2-n)Cl(n) (E = S, O, CH2; n = 0, 1, 2) and intermolecular chlorine-tin interactions in the meta- and para-methoxy isomers

Organotin(IV) compounds of the type [(o-MeEC(6)H(4))CH(2)](2)SnPh(2-n)Cl(n) were synthesized, E = O, n = 0 (1), n = 1 (2), and n = 2 (3); E = S, n = 0 (4), n = 1 (5), and n = 2 (6); and E = CH(2), n = 0 (7), n = 1 (8), and n = 2 (9). The dichloro compounds 3 and 6 have been investigated by single-crystal X-ray diffraction and exhibit bicapped tetrahedral geometry at the tin atom as a consequence of significant intramolecular Sn...O (3) and Sn...S (6) secondary bonding, in monomolecular units. Compound 3, when crystallized from a hexane/THF solvent mixture, shows two different conformers, 3' and 3'', in the crystal structure; 3' has two equivalent Sn...O interactions, while 3'' has two nonequivalent Sn...O interactions. Upon the recrystallization of 3 from hexane, only a single structural form is observed, 3'. The Sn...E distances in 3', 3'', and 6 are 71.3, 73.5 and 72.9, and 76.3% of the SigmavdW radii, respectively. The meta- and para-substituted isomers of 3 (10, 11) exhibit a distortion at the tin atom due to self-association via intermolecular Sn...Cl interactions, resulting in polymeric structures. (119)Sn NMR spectroscopy suggests that the intramolecular Sn...E interactions persist in solution for the dichloride compounds 3 and 6.
