Abstract
The physiological significance of calcium ions such as the role in cellular signalling, cell growth, etc. have driven the development of methods to detect and monitor the level of Ca2+ ions, both in vivo and in vitro. Although various approaches for the detection of calcium ions have been reported, methods based on small molecular fluorescent probes have unique advantages including small probe size, easy monitoring of detection processes and applicability in biological systems. In this review article, we will discuss the progress in the development of Ca2+ -binding fluorescent probes by taking into account the types of chelating groups that have been employed for Ca2+ binding.

Abstract
(2E)-3-[4-(dimethylamino)phenyl]-1-(2-hydroxyphenyl)prop-2-en-1-one (DPHP) was synthesized by the reaction 4(dimethylamino) benzaldehyde with 1-(2-hydroxyphenyl) ethanone under microwave irradiation. Structure of DPHP was conformed by 1H and 13C NMR, FT-IR, EI-MS spectral studies and elemental analysis. The electronic absorption and fluorescence spectra of DPHP have been studied in solvents of different polarities, and the data were used to study the solvatochromic properties such as extinction coefficient, stokes shift, oscillator strength, transition dipole moment, fluorescence quantum yield and photochemical quantum yield. The absorption maximum and fluorescence emission maximum was observed red shift when increase solvent polarity n-Hexane to DMF. DPHP undergoes solubilization in different micelles and may be used as a probe and quencher to determine the critical micelle concentration (CMC) of CTAB and SDS.

Abstract
A series of novel 1-ferrocenyl-2-(3-phenyl-1H-1,2,4-triazol-5-ylthio)ethanone derivatives was synthesized by the reaction of 3-substituted-1H-1,2,4-triazole-5-thiol and chloroacetyl ferrocene in the presence of sodium hydride and potassium iodide at reflux. The structures of the new compounds were determined by IR and (1)H NMR spectroscopy and HRMS. The structure of compound 5c was established by X-ray crystallography. UV-vis absorption and fluorescence spectra were recorded in ethanol and dichloromethane. The results showed that compounds 5a-g display similar absorptions ranging from 300 to 500nm and maximal emission bands are about 566nm. The intensity of fluorescence and maximal emission bands are dependent on the groups bonded to triazole rings.
