Abstract
Abstract
A new cadmium(II)-based coordination polymer [Cd3(FcCOO)6(4,4′-bipy)(H2O)2]
n
(FcCOO = ferrocenecarboxylato and 4,4′-bipy = 4,4′-bipyridine) has been synthesized under hydrothermal conditions and characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The results of a crystal structural analysis has revealed that the title compound consists of two crystallographically unique CdII centers, one in a general position with a five-coordinated and one on an inversion center with a six-coordinated environment. The CdII centers are connected by FcCOO− units to form a metal carboxylate oxygen chain extending parallel to the [100] direction while the 4,4′-bipy ligands further act as bridging linkers of the CdII centers resulting in a layered polymer. In addition, an X-ray powder diffraction and thermal gravimetric analysis and a cyclo-voltammetric characterization of the complex have also been carried out.

Abstract
This research presents the highly regioselective syntheses of 1,2-dicarboxylated cyclopentadienide salts [Cat]2 [C5 H3 (CO2 )2 H] by reaction of a variety of organic cation methylcarbonate salts [Cat]OCO2 Me (Cat=NR4 + , PR4 + , Im+ ) with cyclopentadiene (CpH) or by simply reacting organic cation cyclopentadienides Cat[Cp] (Cat=NR4 + , PR4 + , Im+ ) with CO2 . One characteristic feature of these dianionic ligands is the acidic proton delocalized in an intramolecular hydrogen bridge (IHB) between the two carboxyl groups, as studied by 1 H NMR spectroscopy and XRD analyses. The reaction cannot be stopped after the first carboxylation. Therefore, we propose a Kolbe-Schmitt phenol-carboxylation related mechanism where the acidic proton of the monocarboxylic acid intermediate plays an ortho-directing and CO2 activating role for the second kinetically accelerated CO2 addition step exclusively in ortho position. The same and related thiocarboxylates [Cat]2 [C5 H3 (COS)2 H] are obtained by reaction of COS with Cat[Cp] (Cat=NR4 + , PR4 + , Im+ ). A preliminary study on [Cat]2 [C5 H3 (CO2 )2 H] reveals, that its soft and hard coordination sites can selectively be addressed by soft Lewis acids (Mo0 , Ru2+ ) and hard Lewis acids (Al3+ , La3+ ).

Abstract
1'-(Diphenylphosphino)-1-cyanoferrocene () reacts with silver(i) halides at a 1 : 1 metal-to-ligand ratio to afford the heterocubane complexes [Ag(μ3-X)(-κP)]4, where X = Cl (), Br (), and I (). In addition, the reaction with AgCl with 2 equiv. of leads to chloride-bridged dimer [(μ-Cl)2{Ag(-κP)2}2] () and, presumably, also to [(μ(P,N)-){AgCl(-κP)}]2 (). While similar reactions with AgCN furnished only the insoluble coordination polymer [(-κP)2Ag(NC)Ag(CN)]n (), those with AgSCN afforded the heterocubane [Ag(-κP)(μ-SCN-S,S,N)]4 () and the thiocyanato-bridged disilver(i) complex [Ag(-κP)2(μ-SCN-S,N)]2 (), thereby resembling reactions in the AgCl- system. Attempted reactions with AgF led to ill-defined products, among which [Ag(-κP)2(μ-HF2)]2 () and [(μ-SiF6){Ag(-κP)2}2] () could be identified. The latter compound was prepared also from Ag2[SiF6] and . Reactions between and AgClO4 or Ag[BF4] afforded disilver complexes [(μ(P,N)-)Ag(ClO4-κO)]2 () and [(μ(P,N)-)Ag(BF4-κF)]2 () featuring pseudolinear Ag(i) centers that are weakly coordinated by the counter anions. A similar reaction with Ag[SbF6] followed by crystallization from ethyl acetate produced an analogous complex, albeit with coordinated solvent, [(μ(P,N)-)Ag(AcOEt-κO)]2[SbF6]2 (). Ultimately, a compound devoid of any additional ligands at the Ag(i) centers, [(μ(P,N)-)Ag]2[B(C6H3(CF3)2-3,5)4]2 (), was obtained from the reaction of with silver(i) tetrakis[3,5-bis(trifluoromethyl)phenyl]borate. The reaction of Ag[BF4] with two equivalents of produced unique coordination polymer [Ag(-κP)(μ(P,N)-)]n[BF4]n (), the structure of which contained one of the phosphinoferrocene ligands coordinated as a P,N-chelate and the other forming a bridge to an adjacent Ag(i) center. All of these compounds were structurally characterized by single-crystal X-ray crystallography, revealing that the lengths of the bonds between silver and its anionic ligand(s) typically exceed the sum of the respective covalent radii, which is in line with the results of theoretical calculations at the density-functional theory (DFT) level, suggesting that standard covalent dative bonds are formed between silver and phosphorus (soft acid/soft base interactions) while the interactions between silver and the ligand's nitrile group (if coordinated) or the supporting anion are of predominantly electrostatic nature.

Abstract
In the tetra-nuclear mol-ecule of the title compound, [Ag4(C9H10O4)2(C18H15P)4], the Ag(I) ion is coordinated by one P and three O atoms in a considerably distorted tetra-hedral environment. The two 2,2-di-allyl-malonate anions bridge four Ag(I) ions in a μ4-(κ(6) O (1),O (3):O (3):O (1'),O (3'):O (1')) mode, setting up an Ag4O8P4 core (point group symmetry -4..) of corner-sharing tetra-hedra. The shortest intra-molecular Ag⋯Ag distance of 3.9510 (3) Å reveals that no direct d (10)⋯d (10) inter-actions are present. Four weak intra-molecular C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds are observed in the crystal structure of the title compound, which most likely stabilize the tetra-nuclear silver core.
