Abstract
The development of turn-based inhibitors of protein-protein interactions has attracted considerable attention in medicinal chemistry. Our group has synthesized a series of peptides derived from an amino-functionalized ferrocene to investigate their potential to mimic protein turn structures. Detailed DFT and spectroscopic studies (IR, NMR, CD) have shown that, for peptides, the backbone chirality and bulkiness of the amino acid side chains determine the hydrogen-bond pattern, allowing tuning of the size of the preferred hydrogen-bonded ring in turn-folded structures. However, their biological potential is more dependent on their lipophilicity. In addition, our pioneering work on the chiroptical properties of aminoferrocene-containing peptides enables the correlation of their geometry with the sign of the CD signal in the absorption region of the ferrocene chromophore. These studies have opened up the possibility of using aminoferrocene and its derivatives as chirooptical probes for the determination of various chirality elements, such as the central chirality of amino acids and the helicity of peptide sequences.

Abstract
The first N-ferrocenyl aminocarbyne complex, [Fe2Cp2(CO)2(μ-CO){μ-CN(Me)(Fc)}]CF3SO3 ([2]CF3SO3), was synthesized with an 88% yield from [Fe2Cp2(CO)4], isocyanoferrocene (CNFc), and methyl triflate. The synthesis proceeded through the intermediate formation of [Fe2Cp2(CO)3(CNFc)], 1. Multinuclear NMR experiments revealed the presence of cis and trans isomers for [2]CF3SO3 in organic solvents, in agreement with DFT outcomes. Electrochemical and spectroelectrochemical studies demonstrated one reduction process occurring prevalently at the diiron core and one oxidation involving the ferrocenyl substituent. The oxidation process is expected to favor the redox activation of [2]+ in a biological environment. Both [2]CF3SO3 and its phenyl analogue [Fe2Cp2(CO)2(μ-CO){μ-CN(Me)(Ph)}]CF3SO3 ([3]CF3SO3), prepared for comparison, exerted moderate antiproliferative activity against the human cancer cell lines A431, HCT-15, PSN-1, 2008, and U1285. However, [2]CF3SO3 exhibited a higher cytotoxicity than [3]CF3SO3, showed a substantial ability to induce intracellular ROS production, and outperformed cisplatin in a three-dimensional SCLC cell model.

Abstract
Generating accurate ab initio ionization energies for transition metal complexes is an important step toward the accurate computational description of their electrocatalytic reactions. Benchmark-quality data is required for testing existing theoretical methods and developing new ones but is complicated to obtain for many transition metal compounds due to the potential presence of both strong dynamical and static electron correlation. In this regime, it is questionable whether the so-called gold standard, coupled cluster with singles, doubles, and perturbative triples (CCSD(T)), provides the desired level of accuracy─roughly 1-3 kcal/mol. In this work, we compiled a test set of 28 3d metal-containing molecules relevant to homogeneous electrocatalysis (termed 3dTMV) and computed their vertical ionization energies (ionization potentials) with CCSD(T) and phaseless auxiliary-field quantum Monte Carlo (ph-AFQMC) in the def2-SVP basis set. A substantial effort has been made to converge away the phaseless bias in the ph-AFQMC reference values. We assess a wide variety of multireference diagnostics and find that spin-symmetry breaking of the CCSD wave function and the PBE0 density functional correlate well with our analysis of multiconfigurational wave functions. We propose quantitative criteria based on symmetry breaking to delineate correlation regimes inside of which appropriately performed CCSD(T) can produce mean absolute deviations from the ph-AFQMC reference values of roughly 2 kcal/mol or less and outside of which CCSD(T) is expected to fail. We also present a preliminary assessment of density functional theory (DFT) functionals on the 3dTMV set.

Abstract
Four ferrocene derivatives - ferrocenecarboxylic acid, ferrocenium salt, ferroceneboronic acid, and aminoferrocene - were characterized electrochemically, and their cytotoxicity was probed using cancer cells (line MG-63). We related the observed cytotoxicity with the determined redox potentials of these four ferrocenes - aminoferrocene with its lowest redox potential exhibited the highest cytotoxicity. Thus, we synthesized four derivatives consisting of aminoferrocene and phenylboronic acid residue with the intent to employ them as ROS-activated prodrugs (ROS - reactive oxygen species). We characterized them and studied their time-dependent stability in aqueous environments. Then, we performed electrochemical measurements at oxidative conditions to confirm ROS-responsivity of the synthesized molecules. Finally, the cytotoxicity of the synthesized molecules was tested using cancer MG-63 cells and noncancerous NIH-3T3 cells. The experiments revealed sought behaviour, especially for para-regioisomers of synthesized ferrocenyliminoboronates.

Abstract
Organometallic complexes are an important class of synthetic reagents and are of
great interest due to their versatility and wide biological application. The cationic nature of the
coordination nucleus facilitates its interaction with biological molecules such as amino acids,
proteins, and nucleic acids. The functionalization of peptides or amino acids with organometallic
motifs is a novel strategy for the design and development of molecules with greater biological
activity, stability in biological environments, and selectivity for specific targets, which
make them valuable tools for designing and obtaining molecules with therapeutic applications.
The physicochemical properties of ferrocene make it ideal for drug development, due to its
structure, stability in aqueous solutions, redox properties, and low toxicity. In the same way,
organotin (IV) derivatives have great potential for drug development because of their multiple
biological activities, wide structural versatility, high degree of stability, and low toxicity.
However, the synthesis of these drugs based on organometallic molecules containing ferrocene or organotin (IV) is
quite complex and represents a challenge nowadays; for this reason, it is necessary to design and implement procedures
to obtain molecules with a high degree of purity, in sufficient quantities, and at low cost. This review describes
the strategies of synthesis used up to now for the preparation of organometallic amino acids and peptides
containing ferrocene or organotin (IV) derivates, as well as their impact on the development of therapeutic agents.

Abstract
Two related three-membered series of nonlinear aminophenylferrocene and diphenylaminoferrocene complexes were prepared and characterized by 1H and 13C NMR spectroscopy. The first series consists of 4-(diphenylamino)phenylferrocene (TPA-Fc, 1a), its dimethoxy-substituted tetraphenylphenylenediamine derivative (M2TPPD-Fc, 1c), and the triphenylamine-bridged bis(ferrocenyl) complex (Fc-TPA-Fc, 1b). The second series involves bis(4-methoxyphenyl)aminoferrocene (M2DPA-Fc, 1d), 4-methoxyphenylaminoferrocene (MPA-Fc) with N-phenyl-appended terminal TPA (1e), and the corresponding bis(MPA-Fc) complex with bridging TPA (1f). The structure of complex 1d was further confirmed by single crystal X-ray diffraction. Combined investigations, based on anodic voltammetry, UV-vis-NIR spectroelectrochemistry and density functional theory (DFT) calculations, were conducted to illustrate the influence of the integration of multiple redox-active components on the sequential oxidation of these complexes. The first anodic steps in 1a-1f are localized preferentially on the ferrocenyl units, followed by oxidation of the TPA or TPPD moieties (absent in 1d). Irreversible oxidation of the ferrocene-appended strong donor DPA/MPA units in 1d-1f terminates the anodic series. The one-electron oxidation of the triphenylamine-bridged diferrocenyl (1b) and bis(phenylaminoferrocenyl) (1f) complexes triggers their facile redox disproportionation to dicationic bis(ferrocenium) products.
