Abstract
Piroxicam (PX) as a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) can be effectively used for anti-inflammatory and analgesia. However, overdoses may induce side effects such as gastrointestinal ulcers and headaches. Therefore, the assay of piroxicam has considerable significance. In this work, nitrogen-doped carbon dots (N-CDs) was synthesized for PX detection. The fluorescence sensor was fabricated by hydrothermal method with plant soot and ethylenediamine. The strategy exhibited a detection range of 6-200 μg/mL and 250-700 μg/mL with the limited detection of 2 μg/mL. The mechanism of the PX assay base on the fluorescence sensor was the process of electron transfer between the PX and N-CDs. The assay subsequently demonstrated could be successfully used in actual sample. The results indicated that the N-CDs could be a superior candidate nanomaterial for piroxicam monitoring in the healthcare product industry.

Abstract
In this paper, an electrochemical sensor was developed to determine piroxicam (PX) and tramadole (Tr) based on their enhanced electrochemical responses at the surface of the polypyrrole/CuO nanocomposite-modified nanoporous gold film (NPGF) electrode. The experimental results showed that PX provide an oxidation peak at 0.65 V in pH = 8.0. The DPV results were linearly affiliated on PX concentration within the two closed windows (C1PX = 0.05-30.0 μM, correlation coefficient of 0.9905, and C2PX = 50.0-300.0 μM, correlation coefficient of 0.9927). From voltammetric curves, the detection limit (LOD = 3Sb/m) for PX at a surface of PPY-CuO-NPGF electrode was appeared to be 0.01 μM. Furthermore, the ability of PPY-CuO-NPGF electrode for simultaneous measurement of PX and Tr was investigated. The suggested sensor shows a long-time stability, good repeatability, and rapid response in the mixture media of PX and Tr.

Abstract
Nitrogen-doped graphene (NGr) was synthesized by the hydrothermal method using urea as a reducing and doping agent for graphene oxide (GO). The crystalline structure of GO was revealed by the XRD intense peak recorded at 2θ = 11.4°, indicating that the interlayer distance within the structure was large (d = 0.77 nm), and the number of layers (n) was 9. Further, the transformation of GO in NGr also led to the decrease in the interlayer distance and number of layers (d = 0.387 nm; n = 3). As indicated by elemental analysis, the concentration of nitrogen in the NGr sample was 6 wt%. Next, the comparison between the performance of bare GC and the graphene-modified electrode (NGr/GC) towards piroxicam (PIR) detection was studied. Significant differences were observed between the two electrodes. Hence, in the case of bare GC, the oxidation signal of PIR was very broad and appeared at a high potential (+0.7 V). In contrast, the signal recorded with the NGr/GC electrode was significantly higher (four times) and shifted towards lower potentials (+0.54 V), proving the electro-catalytic effect of nitrogen-doped graphene. The NGr/GC electrode was also tested for its ability to detect piroxicam in pharmaceutical drugs (Flamexin), giving excellent recoveries.

Abstract
Here, we introduce a new electrode based on Silver-filled multi-walled carbon nanotube (Ag-MWCNT) and methyltrioctyl ammonium chloride (MTOAC) for highly sensitive voltammetric measurement of Sulfamethoxazole (SMX). The electrode showed an electrocatalytic activity as it led to the diminution of the overpotential and an increase in peak current for SMX oxidation in a phosphate buffer solution (pH 6.0). Analysis of surface topography and electrochemical properties of the modified electrode was examined by TEM, EDX and EIS, respectively. Electrochemical performance of the modified electrode was investigated with cyclic voltammetry (CV) and differential pulse voltammetry (DPV) techniques for determination of SMX in aqueous solution. In addition, the oxidation process was found to be dependent on the pH of the buffer solution. Under optimal conditions, a linear relationship between the oxidation current and SMX concentration was found in a range 0.05-70 μM (R2 = 0.997) with a detection limit of 0.01 μM after 2 min of accumulating time. The electrode was successfully used to quantify SMX in pharmaceutical formulations and human urine by DPV.

Abstract
Solid dispersions have been successfully used to enhance the solubility of several poorly water soluble drugs. Solid dispersions are produced by melting hydrophilic carriers and mixing in the poorly water soluble drug. Supersaturation is obtained by quickly cooling the mixture until it solidifies, thereby entrapping the drug. The effects of using ultrasound to homogenize the molten carrier and drug mixture were studied. In particular, the increase in drug solubility for the resulting solid dispersions was analyzed. Piroxicam, which has very low water solubility, was used as a model drug. A full factorial design was used to analyze how sonication parameters affected the solubility and in vitro release of the drug. The results show that the use of ultrasound can significantly increase the solubility and dissolution rate of the piroxicam solid dispersion. Pure piroxicam presented a solubility of 13.3 μg/mL. A maximum fourfold increase in solubility, reaching 53.8 μg/mL, was observed for a solid dispersion sonicated at 19 kHz for 10 min and 475 W. The in vitro dissolution rate test showed the sonicated solid dispersion reached a maximum rate of 18%/min, a sixfold increase over the piroxicam rate of 2.9%/min. Further solid state characterization by thermal, X-ray diffraction and Fourier transform infrared analyses also showed that the sonication process, in the described conditions, did not adversely alter the drug or significantly change its polymorphic form. Ultrasound is therefore an interesting technique to homogenize drug/carrier mixtures with the objective of increasing the solubility of drugs with poor water solubility.

Abstract
The NSAID piroxicam (PRX) drug was used for complex formation reactions with Cu(II), Zn(II) and Pt(II) metal salts have been synthesized. Then, these complexes have been characterized by spectroscopic and analytical techniques. Thermal behavior of the complexes were also investigated. The electrochemical properties of all complexes have been investigated by cyclic voltammetry (CV) using glassy carbon electrode. The biological activity of the complexes has been evaluated by examining their ability to bind to fish sperm double strand DNA (FSFSdsDNA) with UV spectroscopy. UV studies of the interaction of the PRX and its complexes with FSdsDNA have shown that these compounds can bind to FSdsDNA. The binding constants of the compounds with FSdsDNA have also been calculated. The morphology of the FSdsDNA, PRX, metal ions and metal complexes has been investigated by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). To get the SEM images, the interaction of compounds with FSdsDNA has been studied by means of differential pulse voltammetry (DPV) at FSdsDNA modified pencil graphite electrode (PGE). The decrease in intensity of the guanine oxidation signals has been used as an indicator for the interaction mechanism. The effect of proliferation PRX and complexes were examined on the HeLA and C6 cells using real-time cell analyzer with four different concentrations.

Abstract
This work describes the electrochemical behaviour of ibuprofen on two types of multi-walled carbon nanotubes based composite electrodes, i.e., multi-walled carbon nanotubes-epoxy (MWCNT) and silver-modified zeolite-multi-walled carbon nanotubes-epoxy (AgZMWCNT) composites electrodes. The composite electrodes were obtained using two-roll mill procedure. SEM images of surfaces of the composites revealed a homogeneous distribution of the composite components within the epoxy matrix. AgZMWCNT composite electrode exhibited the better electrical conductivity and larger electroactive surface area. The electrochemical determination of ibuprofen (IBP) was achieved using AgZMWCNT by cyclic voltammetry, differential-pulsed voltammetry, square-wave voltammetry and chronoamperometry. The IBP degradation occurred on both composite electrodes under controlled electrolysis at 1.2 and 1.75 V vs. Ag/AgCl, and IBP concentration was determined comparatively by differential-pulsed voltammetry, under optimized conditions using AgZMWCNT electrode and UV-Vis spectrophotometry methods to determine the IBP degradation performance for each electrode. AgZMWCNT electrode exhibited a dual character allowing a double application in IBP degradation process and its control.

Abstract
An electrochemical sensor for simultaneous quantification of serotonin (5-hydroxytryptamine, 5-HT) and dopamine (DA) using a β-cyclodextrin/poly(N-acetylaniline)/carbon nanotube composite modified carbon paste electrode has been developed. Synergistic effect of multi-walled carbon nanotube (MWCNT) in addition to the pre-concentrating effect of β-cyclodextrin (β-CD) as well as its different inclusion complex stability with 5-HT and DA was used to construct an electrochemical sensor for quantification of these important neurotransmitters. The overlapping anodic peaks of 5-HT and DA at 428 mV on bare electrode resolved in two well-defined voltammetric peaks at 202 and 363 mV vs. Ag/AgCl respectively. The oxidation mechanism of 5-HT and DA on the surface of the electrode was investigated by cyclic voltammetry and it was found that the electrode processes are pH dependent and electrochemical oxidation of 5-HT is totally irreversible while the electrode gave a more reversible process to DA. Under optimized conditions, linear calibration curves were obtained in the range of about 4-200 μM with a detection limits down to sub-μM levels (S/N=3) after 20-s accumulation, for both. The proposed sensor was shown to be remarkably selective for 5-HT and DA in matrices containing different species including ascorbic acid and uric acid. The suitability of the developed method was tested for the determination of 5-HT and DA in the Randox Synthetic Plasma samples and acceptable recoveries were obtained for a set of spiked samples.

Abstract
A simple electrochemical binding assay for cholera toxin (CT) was developed using lactose labeled with daunomycin as an electroactive compound. The labeled lactose (LL) was determined with high sensitivity by adsorptive stripping voltammetry (AdSV). The electrochemical behaviors of LL at glassy carbon (GC), plastic formed carbon (PFC) and carbon nanotubes paste (CNTP) electrode were investigated. The CNTP electrode showed the greatest accumulation capacity for LL. The assay for CT based on the sequestration electrochemistry was demonstrated. The binding event of the LL to CT was detected by the decrease in the electrochemical response of daunomycin as an electroactive label without a separation process to remove the free LL from the one bound with CT before any measurements can be made. The detection limit of the CT assay using the CNTP electrode was 0.5 nM (42 ng mL(-1)).

Abstract
AbstractA new chemically modified electrode is constructed based on carbon ceramic electrode incorporated with zeolite ZSM-5. Voltammetric behavior of piroxicam at the carbon ceramic zeolite modified electrode (CCZME) was investigated. The modified electrode exhibited catalytic activity toward the electrooxidation of piroxicam. Experimental parameters such as solution pH, scan rate, concentration of piroxicam and zeolite amount were studied. It has been shown that using the CCZME, piroxicam can be determined by differential pulse voltammetry (DPV) and hydrodynamic amperometry (HA). Under the optimized conditions the calibration plots are linear in the concentration ranges of 0.20–25.00 and 0.20–50.10 μM with limit of detections of 0.65 and 0.29 μM for DPV and HA, respectively. The modified electrode with DPV and HA methods was successfully applied for analysis of piroxicam in pharmaceutical formulations. The results were favorably compared to those obtained by the spiked method. The results of the analysis suggest that the proposed method has promise for the routine determination of piroxicam in the products examined.

Abstract
This review focuses on recent contributions in the development of the electrochemical sensors based on carbon nanotubes (CNTs). CNTs have unique mechanical and electronic properties, combined with chemical stability, and behave electrically as a metal or semiconductor, depending on their structure. For sensing applications, CNTs have many advantages such as small size with larger surface area, excellent electron transfer promoting ability when used as electrodes modifier in electrochemical reactions, and easy protein immobilization with retention of its activity for potential biosensors. CNTs play an important role in the performance of electrochemical biosensors, immunosensors, and DNA biosensors. Various methods have been developed for the design of sensors using CNTs in recent years. Herein we summarize the applications of CNTs in the construction of electrochemical sensors and biosensors along with other nanomaterials and conducting polymers.
