Abstract
A facile electrochemical approach is proposed for the synchronous determination of acetaminophen (ACP), codeine (COD) and caffeine (CAF) utilizing unmodified screen-printed electrodes (SPEs). The determination of ACP, COD and CAF has been explored across different supporting electrolytes including sulfuric acid (H2SO4), hydrochloric acid (HCl), phosphoric acid (H3PO4) and Briton Robinson (B.R) buffer solutions. It was found that a 0.05 mol L-1 sulfuric acid solution is an optimal supporting electrolyte utilized for voltammetric analysis of ACP, COD, and CAF with improved sensitivity, stability, and reproducibility. The electro-analytical sensing of ACP, COD and CAF was investigated using SPEs within linear concentration ranges of 3.0-35.0 μmol L-1, 10-160 μmol L-1 and 10-160 μmol L-1 and revealed competitively low limits of detection (3S/N) of 0.9, 4.8 and 6.3 μmol L-1 for ACP, COD and CAF, respectively. The results indicated the possibility of such a simple and quick electroanalytical protocol for online monitoring of pharmaceutical formulations comprising ACP, COD, and CAF drugs in human fluids with satisfactory recovery.

Abstract
The lack of sufficient selectivity is the main limitation of chemiluminescence (CL) methods; because the CL reagent is not restricted to a specific analyte. This study investigated the preconcentration and determination of ethion by a flow injection CL (FIA-CL) method using a molecularly imprinted poly high internal phase emulsion (MIP-polyHIPE) adsorbent. Preliminary studies showed that ethion could be determined with high sensitivity in the Ru (bipy)3 2+ -acidic Ce (IV) CL system. A MIP-polyHIPE adsorbent was synthesized and used for preconcentration to increase the selectivity and sensitivity of the method. The adsorption of ethion on the adsorbent was investigated using density functional theory (DFT) and molecular dynamics (MD), UV-Vis and FTIR spectrophotometry and liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS-MS). Response surface methodology (RSM) and central composite design (CCD) were used to find optimized concentrations of variables. The linear dynamic range (LDR) and limit of detection (LOD) for ethion in the FIA-CL method were calculated 1.0✕10-9 -2.0✕10-7 and 6.0✕10-10 mol L-1 , respectively. The percentage of relative standard deviation for 5 repetitive measurements of 5.0⨯10-8 mol L-1 ethion was 4.2%. The proposed method was successfully used to separate and preconcentrate ethion from drinking and surface water sources.

Abstract
This work presents a novel work for the detection of the freshness of eggs stored at room temperature and refrigerated conditions by the near-infrared (NIR) spectroscopy and multivariate models. The NIR spectroscopy of diffuse transmission and reflection modes was used to compare the quantitative and qualitative investigation of egg freshness. It was found that diffuse transmission is more conducive to the judgment of egg freshness. The linear discriminant analysis model (LDA) for pattern recognition based on the diffuse transmission measurement was employed to analyze egg freshness during storage. NIR diffuse transmission spectroscopy showed great potential for egg storage time discrimination in normal atmospheric conditions. The LDA model discrimination rated up to 91.4% in the prediction set, while only 25.6% of samples were correctly discriminated among eggs in refrigerated storage conditions. Furthermore, NIR spectra, combined with the synergy interval partial least squares (Si-PLS) model, showed excellent ability in egg physical index prediction under normal atmospheric conditions. The root means square error of prediction (RMSEP) values of Haugh unit, yolk index, and weight loss from predictive Si-PLS models were 4.25, 0.031, and 0.005432, respectively.

Abstract
For the first time, the analytical figures of merit in detection capabilities of the very less explored photoinduced chemical oxidation method for Ru(bpy)32+ CL has been investigated in detail using 32 structurally different analytes. It was carried out on-chip using peroxydisulphate and visible light and compared with well-known direct chemical oxidation approaches using Ce(IV). The analytes belong to various chemical classes such as tertiary amine, secondary amine, sulphonamide, betalactam, thiol and benzothiadiazine. Influence of detection environment on CL emission with respect to method of oxidation was evaluated by changing the buffers and pH. The photoinduced chemical oxidation exhibited more universal nature for Ru(bpy)32+ CL in detection towards selected analytes. No additional enhancers, reagents, or modification in instrumental configuration were required. Wide detectability and enhanced emission has been observed for analytes from all the chemical classes when photoinduced chemical oxidation was employed. Some of these analytes are reported for the first time under photoinduced chemical oxidation like compounds from sulphonamide, betalactam, thiol and benzothiadiazine class. On the other hand, many of the selected analytes including tertiary and secondary amines such as cetirizine, azithromycin fexofenadine and proline did not produced any analytically useful CL signal (S/N=3 or above for 1μgmL-1 analyte) under chemical oxidation. The most fascinating observations was in the detection limits; for example ofloxacin was 15 times more intense with a detection limit of 5.81×10-10M compared to most lowest ever reported 6×10-9M. Earlier, penicillamine was detected at 0.1μgmL-1 after derivatization using photoinduced chemical oxidation, but in this study, we improved it to 5.82ngmL-1 without any prior derivatization. The detection limits of many other analytes were also found to be improved by several orders of magnitude under photoinduced chemical oxidation.

Abstract
We examine [Ir(df-ppy)2(pt-TEG)](+) as the first highly water soluble, blue-luminescent iridium(III) complex for chemiluminescence detection. Marked differences in selectivity were observed between the new complex and the conventional [Ru(bpy)3](2+) reagent, which will enable this mode of detection to be extended to new areas of application.

Abstract
A new sensitive sensor was fabricated for simultaneous determination of codeine and acetaminophen based on 4-hydroxy-2-(triphenylphosphonio)phenolate (HTP) and multiwall carbon nanotubes paste electrode at trace levels. The sensitivity of codeine determination was deeply affected by spiking multiwall carbon nanotubes and a modifier in carbon paste. Electron transfer coefficient, α, catalytic electron rate constant, k, and the exchange current density, j 0, for oxidation of codeine at the HTP-MWCNT-CPE were calculated using cyclic voltammetry. The calibration curve was linear over the range 0.2-844.7 μM with two linear segments, and the detection limit of 0.063 μM of codeine was obtained using differential pulse voltammetry. The modified electrode was separated codeine and acetaminophen signals by differential pulse voltammetry. The modified electrode was applied for the determination of codeine and acetaminophen in biological and pharmaceutical samples with satisfactory results.

Abstract
We review the determination of various controlled drugs (opioids, tranquilizers, stimulants, and hallucinogens) using flow-analysis methodologies (flow injection analysis, high performance liquid chromatography, capillary electrophoresis, and microfluidic devices) with chemiluminescence and electrochemiluminescence reagents such as luminol, diaryloxalates, tris(2,2'-bipyridine)ruthenium(II), permanganate, manganese(IV), and sulfite, for industrial, clinical, pharmaceutical, and forensic science applications.
