Abstract
In this work, the 4D data-independent acquisition (DIA) quantitative strategy was used for differential proteomic analysis of four beef tripe samples from different sources to explore the associations between differentially expressed proteins (DEPs) and meat quality traits. A total of 68 shared DEPs were identified in all comparison groups, which were mainly involved in phosphorylation signaling pathway, peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor (PPAR) signaling pathway, and glucuronic acid pathway. In the correlation analysis between DEPs and quality traits of beef tripe, it was found that 21 proteins were significantly associated with the quality traits in beef tripe, which could be considered as the potential biomarkers of beef tripe quality. This study has successfully uncovered the protein composition of beef tripe for the very first time, which helps to understand the key proteins and biological processes associated with the quality traits of beef tripe from different sources and improve the quality control of beef tripe.

Abstract
Climate change jeopardizes soybean production by declining seed yield and quality. In this review, the morphophysiological alterations of soybean in response to abiotic stress are summarized, followed by illustrations of cellular metabolisms and regulatory mechanisms to organellar stress based on subcellular proteomics. This highlights the communications associated with reactive oxygen species scavenging, molecular chaperones, and phytohormone signals among subcellular compartments. Given the complexity of climate change and the limitations of plants in coping with multiple abiotic stresses, a generic response to environmental constraints is proposed between calcium and abscisic acid signals in subcellular organelles. This review summarizes the findings of subcellular proteomics in stressed soybean and discusses the future prospects of subcellular proteomics for promoting the improvement of climate-tolerant crops.

Abstract
It is well documented that high temperature (HT) severely affects the development of soybean male reproductive organs. However, the molecular mechanism of thermo-tolerance in soybean remains unclear. To explore the candidate genes and regulatory mechanism of soybean response to HT stress and flower development, here, the anthers of two previously identified HT-tolerant (JD21) and HT-sensitive (HD14) varieties were analyzed by RNA-seq. In total, 219 (172 upregulated and 47 downregulated), 660 (405 upregulated and 255 downregulated), and 4,854 (2,662 upregulated and 2,192 downregulated) differentially expressed genes (DEGs) were identified between JD21 anthers treated with HT stress vs. JD21 anthers in the natural field conditions (TJA vs. CJA), HD14 anthers treated with HT stress vs. HD14 anthers in the natural field conditions (THA vs. CHA), and JD21 vs. HD14 anthers treated with HT stress (TJA vs. THA), respectively. The results showed that there were more DEGs upregulated in JD21; this might be the reason why JD21 was more HT-resistant than the HT-sensitive variety HD14. GO annotation and KEGG enriched analysis showed that many DEGs are mainly involved in defense response, response to biological stimuli, auxin-activated signaling pathway, plant hormone signal transduction, MAPK signaling pathway-plant, starch and sucrose metabolism, etc. The conjoint analysis of RNA-seq and previous iTRAQ results found that there were 1, 24, and 54 common DEGs/DAPs showing the same expression pattern and 1, 2, and 13 common DEGs/DAPs showing the opposite pattern between TJA vs. CJA, THA vs. CHA, and TJA vs. THA at the protein and gene level, respectively, among which HSPs, transcription factor, GSTU, and other DEGs/DAPs participated in the response to HT stress and flower development. Notably, the qRT-PCR analysis and physiological index change results coincided with the sequencing results of RNA-seq and iTRAQ. In conclusion, the HT-tolerant cultivar performed better under stress than the HT-sensitive cultivar through modulation of HSP family proteins and transcription factors, and by keeping key metabolic pathways such as plant hormone signal transduction normal. This study provided important data and some key candidate genes to better study the effect and molecular basis of HT on anther in soybean at a transcription and translation level.

Abstract
Horticulture productivity has been increasingly restricted by heat stress from growing global warming, making it far below the optimum production capacity. As a popular ornamental cultivar of tree peony, Paeonia suffruticosa 'Yu Hong' has also been suffering from heat stress not suitable for its optimal growth. To better understand the response mechanisms against heat stress of tree peony, investigations of phenotypic changes, physiological responses, and quantitative proteomics were conducted. Phenotypic and physiological changes indicated that 24 h of exposure to heat stress (40 °C) was the critical duration of heat stress in tree peony. The proteomic analyses revealed a total of 100 heat-responsive proteins (HRPs). According to bioinformatic analysis of HRPs, the heat tolerance of tree peony might be related to signal transduction, synthesis/degradation, heat kinetic proteins, antioxidants, photosynthesis, energy conversion, and metabolism. Our research will provide some new insights into the molecular mechanism under the response against the heat stress of tree peony, which will benefit the future breeding of heat-resistant ornamental plants.

Abstract
An increase in temperature and extreme heat stress is responsible for the global reduction in maize yield. Heat stress affects the integrity of the plasma membrane functioning of mitochondria and chloroplast, which further results in the over-accumulation of reactive oxygen species. The activation of a signal cascade subsequently induces the transcription of heat shock proteins. The denaturation and accumulation of misfolded or unfolded proteins generate cell toxicity, leading to death. Therefore, developing maize cultivars with significant heat tolerance is urgently required. Despite the explored molecular mechanism underlying heat stress response in some plant species, the precise genetic engineering of maize is required to develop high heat-tolerant varieties. Several agronomic management practices, such as soil and nutrient management, plantation rate, timing, crop rotation, and irrigation, are beneficial along with the advanced molecular strategies to counter the elevated heat stress experienced by maize. This review summarizes heat stress sensing, induction of signaling cascade, symptoms, heat stress-related genes, the molecular feature of maize response, and approaches used in developing heat-tolerant maize varieties.

Abstract
Temperature is one of the decisive environmental factors that is projected to increase by 1. 5°C over the next two decades due to climate change that may affect various agronomic characteristics, such as biomass production, phenology and physiology, and yield-contributing traits in oilseed crops. Oilseed crops such as soybean, sunflower, canola, peanut, cottonseed, coconut, palm oil, sesame, safflower, olive etc., are widely grown. Specific importance is the vulnerability of oil synthesis in these crops against the rise in climatic temperature, threatening the stability of yield and quality. The natural defense system in these crops cannot withstand the harmful impacts of heat stress, thus causing a considerable loss in seed and oil yield. Therefore, a proper understanding of underlying mechanisms of genotype-environment interactions that could affect oil synthesis pathways is a prime requirement in developing stable cultivars. Heat stress tolerance is a complex quantitative trait controlled by many genes and is challenging to study and characterize. However, heat tolerance studies to date have pointed to several sophisticated mechanisms to deal with the stress of high temperatures, including hormonal signaling pathways for sensing heat stimuli and acquiring tolerance to heat stress, maintaining membrane integrity, production of heat shock proteins (HSPs), removal of reactive oxygen species (ROS), assembly of antioxidants, accumulation of compatible solutes, modified gene expression to enable changes, intelligent agricultural technologies, and several other agronomic techniques for thriving and surviving. Manipulation of multiple genes responsible for thermo-tolerance and exploring their high expressions greatly impacts their potential application using CRISPR/Cas genome editing and OMICS technology. This review highlights the latest outcomes on the response and tolerance to heat stress at the cellular, organelle, and whole plant levels describing numerous approaches applied to enhance thermos-tolerance in oilseed crops. We are attempting to critically analyze the scattered existing approaches to temperature tolerance used in oilseeds as a whole, work toward extending studies into the field, and provide researchers and related parties with useful information to streamline their breeding programs so that they can seek new avenues and develop guidelines that will greatly enhance ongoing efforts to establish heat stress tolerance in oilseeds.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Lettuce (Lactuca sativa L.), one of the most economically important leaf vegetables, exhibits early bolting under high-temperature conditions. Early bolting leads to loss of commodity value and edibility, leading to considerable loss and waste of resources. However, the initiation and molecular mechanism underlying early bolting induced by high temperature remain largely elusive. RESULTS In order to better understand this phenomenon, we defined the lettuce bolting starting period, and the high temperature (33 °C) and controlled temperature (20 °C) induced bolting starting phase of proteomics is analyzed, based on the iTRAQ-based proteomics, phenotypic measurement, and biological validation by RT-qPCR. Morphological and microscopic observation showed that the initiation of bolting occurred 8 days after high-temperature treatment. Fructose accumulated rapidly after high-temperature treatment. During initiation of bolting, of the 3305 identified proteins, a total of 93 proteins exhibited differential abundances, 38 of which were upregulated and 55 downregulated. Approximately 38% of the proteins were involved in metabolic pathways and were clustered mainly in energy metabolism and protein synthesis. Furthermore, some proteins involved in sugar synthesis were differentially expressed and were also associated with energy production. CONCLUSIONS This report is the first to report on the metabolic changes involved in the initiation of bolting in lettuce. Our study suggested that energy metabolism and ribosomal proteins are pivotal components during initiation of bolting. This study could provide a potential regulatory mechanism for the initiation of early bolting by high temperature, which could have applications in the manipulation of lettuce for breeding.

Abstract
MicroRNAs (miRNAs), a class of noncoding small RNAs (sRNAs), are widely involved in the response to high temperature (HT) stress at both the seedling and flowering stages. To dissect the roles of miRNAs in regulating male fertility in soybean cytoplasmic male sterility (CMS)-based F1 under HT, sRNA sequencing was performed using flower buds from HT-tolerant and HT-sensitive CMS-based F1 combinations (NF1 and YF1, respectively). A total of 554 known miRNAs, 59 new members of known miRNAs, 712 novel miRNAs, and 1145 target genes of 580 differentially expressed miRNAs (DEMs) were identified under normal temperature and HT conditions. Further integrated analysis of sRNA and transcriptome sequencing found that 21 DEMs and 15 differentially expressed target genes, such as gma-miR397a/Laccase 2, gma-miR399a/Inorganic phosphate transporter 1-4, and gma-miR4413a/PPR proteins, mitochondrial-like, were negatively regulated under HT stress. Furthermore, all members of the gma-miR156 family were suppressed by HT stress in both NF1 and YF1, but were highly expressed in YF1 under HT condition. The negative correlation between gma-miR156b and its target gene squamosa promoter-binding protein-like 2b was confirmed by expression analysis, and overexpression of gma-miR156b in Arabidopsis led to male sterility under HT stress. With these results, we proposed that miRNAs play an important role in the regulation of male fertility stability in soybean CMS-based F1 under HT stress.

Abstract
Staphylococcus aureus is a common pathogenic microorganism that causes foodborne diseases. Lactobionic acid (LBA) is a natural polyhydroxy acid widely used in the food industry. To understand the antibacterial action of LBA against S. aureus better and identify 274 differentially expressed proteins upon LBA treatment, an isobaric tag was used for relative and absolute quantification-based quantitative proteomics. Combined with ultrastructural observations, results suggested that LBA inhibited S. aureus by disrupting cell wall and membrane integrity, regulating adenosine triphosphate binding cassette transporter expression, affecting cellular energy metabolism, attenuating S. aureus virulence and reducing infection, and decreasing the levels of proteins involved in stress and starvation responses. Quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction analysis was used to validate the proteomic data. The results provide new insights into the inhibitory effects of LBA on S. aureus and suggest that LBA application may be a promising method to ensure food and pharmaceutical product safety.
