Synthesis, crystal structures and luminescent properties of zinc(II) metal–organic frameworks constructed from terpyridyl derivative ligand

Isomers of Terpyridine as Ligands in Coordination Polymers and Networks Containing Zinc(II) and Cadmium(II)

The use of divergent 4,2′:6′,4″- and 3,2′:6′,3″-terpyridine ligands as linkers and/or nodes in extended coordination assemblies has gained in popularity over the last decade. However, there is also a range of coordination polymers which feature 2,2′:6′,2″-terpyridine metal-binding domains. Of the remaining 45 isomers of terpyridine, few have been utilized in extended coordination arrays. Here, we provide an overview of coordination polymers and networks containing isomers of terpyridine and either zinc(II) and cadmium(II). Although the motivation for investigations of many of these systems is their luminescent behavior, we have chosen to focus mainly on structural details, and we assess to what extent assemblies are reproducible. We also consider cases where there is structural evidence for competitive product formation. A point that emerges is the lack of systematic investigations.

A new cobalt metal-organic framework as a substrate for Pd nanoparticles applied in high-efficiency nitro phenol degradation and cinnamaldehyde hydrogenation

In recent years, attributed to the excellent catalytic performance of precious metal materials, metal nanoparticles@MOF catalyst has been a popular research direction. Herein, we have synthesized a new 3D cobalt metal-organic framework [Co(TATAB)(344-pytpy)·DMF]n(H3TATAB = 4,4',4″-s-triazine-1,3,5-triyltri-p-aminobenzoic acid; 344-pytpy = 4'-(3-pyridyl)-4,2':6',4″-terpyridine)(1)(P1) by solvothermal method. Its crystal structure was determined with single-crystal X-ray diffraction (SC-XRD) techniques. The final composite Pd-NPs@1 catalyst was synthesized by a reduction method. The catalyst showed high catalytic performance and high recycling stability for nitrophenol degradation and cinnamaldehyde hydrogenation reaction.

Crystal structure of poly[di-chlorido-(μ-2,5-di-carb-oxy-benzene-1,4-di-carboxyl-ato-κ2O1:O4)bis-[μ-4'-(pyridin-3-yl)-4,2':6',4''-terpyridine-κ2N1:N4']dizinc]

In the title polymeric ZnII complex, [Zn2(C10H4O8)Cl2(C20H14N4)2] n , the ZnII cations are bridged by both 2,5-di-carb-oxy-benzene-1,4-di-carboxyl-ate dianions and 4'-(pyridin-3-yl)-4,2':6',4''-terpyridine ligands, forming ladder-like polymeric chains propagating along [1-10]. The Cl- anion further coordinates the ZnII cation to complete a distorted tetra-hedral environment. In the 4'-(pyridin-3-yl)-4,2':6',4''-terpyridine ligand, the three sideward pyridine rings are twisted with respect to the central pyridine ring by 39.27 (12), 14.89 (13) and 3.36 (13)°, respectively. In the crystal, classical O-H⋯N hydrogen bonds and weak C-H⋯O and C-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds link the chains into a three-dimensional supra-molecular architecture. π-π stacking is observed between the pyridine and benzene rings of neighbouring polymeric chains, with a centroid-to-centroid distance of 3.7280 (14) Å.

Diverse zinc(ii) coordination assemblies built on divergent 4,2′:6′,4′′-terpyridine derivatives: syntheses, structures and catalytic properties

Diverse Zn(ii) metal–organic assemblies of 4,2′:6′,4′′-terpyridine derivatives were structurally characterized and applied for catalytic transesterification of phenyl acetate with alcohols.
