Abstract
Microbes used for the recovery of rare earth elements (REEs) from mining wastewater indicated traces of Escherichia coli (E. coli, 2149.6 μg/g), Bacillus sphaericus (1636.6 μg/g), Bacillus mycoides (1469.3 μg/g), and Bacillus cereus (1083.9 μg/g). Of these, E. coli showed an affinity for REEs than non-REEs (Mn and Zn). The amount of heavy REEs adsorbed (1511.1 μg/g) on E. coli was higher than light REEs (638.0 μg/g) due to the process of increasing adsorption with decreasing ionic radius. Additionally, E. coli demonstrated stability in the recovery of REEs from mining wastewater, as evidenced by 4 cycles. SEM-EDS, XPS and FTIR showed that REEs had a disruptive effect on cells, REEs absorbed and desorbed on the cell surface including ion exchange with ions such as Na+, ligand binding with functional groups like -NH2. Finally, the cost assessment confirmed the economically feasible of E. coli in recovery of REEs from mining wastewater.

Abstract
An anti-corrosion inhibitor is one of the most useful methods to prevent metal corrosion toward different media. In comparison with small molecular inhibitors, a polymeric inhibitor can integrate more adsorption groups and generate a synergetic effect, which has been widely used in industry and become a hot topic in academic research. Generally, both natural polymer-based inhibitors and synthetic polymeric inhibitors have been developed. Herein, we summarize the recent progress of polymeric inhibitors during the last decade, especially the structure design and application of synthetic polymeric inhibitor and related hybrid/composite.

Abstract
In the present study, the corrosion resistance of a new niobium oxide/acrylate hybrid nanocomposite coating doped with niobia nanofibers is investigated. Nanofibers were initially synthesized from niobium(V) chloride precursor in a novel autoclave approach before fabricating the base coating from a two-step process involving the syntheses of acrylate resin via free radical polymerization and niobium oxide gel from niobium ethoxide via a sol-gel technique. Variants of the synthesized nanocomposite coating were incorporated with varying concentrations of niobia nanofibers before spin-coating on Q235 steel substrates to inhibit corrosive electrolytic ion percolation and further enhance corrosion resistance when treated with chloride-enriched corrosive media. The corrosion resistance of these nanocomposite coatings increased with nanofiber content up to an optimum concentration due to the corrosion-inhibiting and protective effects of niobium barrier layers within these coatings. The presence of the niobia nanofibers also promoted improved surface contact angle and toughened mechanical strengths.

Abstract
This study aims at finding a suitable alternative for traditional and hazardous organic/inorganic corrosion inhibitors. In this study, the aqueous extract of Esfand seed (ESE) was used as a unique green source of nitrogen-based organic compound with great capability of the steel corrosion inhibition in a saline solution. Surface and electrochemical analyses were carried out by Ultraviolet-visible spectroscopy (UV), Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), Grazing incidence X-ray diffraction (GIXRD), field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM), energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS), atomic force microscopy (AFM), electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), and polarization methods. Furthermore, the adsorption of inhibitors on the steel surface was explored by Monte Carlo (MC), molecular dynamics (MD) and quantum mechanics (QM) methods. The electrochemical studies established the effectiveness of the zinc cations addition to the ESE containing solution on its inhibition efficiency. The sample inhibited by 300 ppm ESE + 700 ppm Zn showed the highest anti-corrosion properties. The inhibition efficiency of this sample was reached 98.8% after 264 h which is much higher than those reported in the previous studies. QM computations proved the formation of complexes via donor-acceptor action. MC and MD simulations supported the inhibitors adsorption on the steel.

Abstract
SiO2NP reinforced hybrid poly(vinylpyrrolidone)/acrylate/silane nanocomposite coatings are resistant to steel corrosion. SiO2NPs toughen the mechanical strength and increase the gross contact angle of coatings, also delay underfilm steel corrosion.
