Abstract
OBJECTIVE The purpose of this study was to evaluate psychological factors influencing the incidence of breast cancer in women. METHODS Basic beliefs, coping strategies, hardiness, subjective control, personal helplessness and independence were studied in 184 women, of which 80 women diagnosed with breast cancer, 104 women without a cancer diagnosis. All study participants completed psychodiagnostic methods and sociodemographic questionnaires. First, we analyzed differences in the psychological characteristics of women depending on the presence of an oncological diagnosis (F - Fisher's test). Second, we conducted factor analysis (principal component analysis with Varimax with Kaiser Normalization) to obtain psychological risk factors for breast cancer in women. RESULTS Distinctive psychological characteristics of women with breast cancer have been discovered. Women with breast cancer underestimate their worth and importance (p=0.021), as well as their luck (p=0.006) and the ability to control events in their lives (p=0.019). Women with breast cancer are very independent (arrogance) (p=0.000), rarely use confrontation-type coping (p=0.05), positive reappraisal (p=0.05), and planful problem-solving (p=0.035). Women diagnosed with breast cancer have an external locus of control (p=0.002), and are low hardiness (p=0.029). The listed features that distinguish women with breast cancer from cancer-free women were considered as probabilistic psychological risk factors for breast cancer. As a result of factor analysis, a model was obtained that included psychological factors associated with breast cancer in women: Independence (arrogance) (28.88% of variance), Belief system (24.83% of variance), Maladaptive coping (20.17% of variance). CONCLUSIONS Extreme independence, beliefs about one's failure, insignificance and inability to control life, as well as maladaptive coping are probabilistic psychological risk factors for breast cancer among Russian women.

Abstract
Introduction National and international guidelines recommend early integration of evidence-based multimodal interventions and programs, especially with a focus on relaxation techniques and other Mind-Body-based methods to maintain the quality of life of oncology patients, improve treatment tolerability, and promote healthy lifestyle behaviors. Consequently, we aim to understand what drives patients and how they navigate integrative medicine to best advise them. This study aimed to detect possible topics of particular interest to patients and identify the patient groups that could benefit most from further programs. Furthermore, we aimed to investigate if patients are open-minded toward integrative oncology concepts and learn about their motivational level to maintain or change behavior. Methods Between August 2019 and October 2020 we surveyed patients undergoing oncological therapy in a university oncological outpatient center using a custom-developed questionnaire based on established Mind-Body Medicine concepts. Results We included 294 patients with various cancers. More than half reported problems sleeping through (61%) and 42% felt stressed frequently, invariably rating this as detrimental to their health. Moreover, a slight majority (52%) felt physically limited due to their disease and only 30% performed defined exercise programs. Women were significantly more likely to feel stressed and reported with alarming frequency that they often feel "everything was up to them." The 40-65-year-olds reported significantly less restful sleep, more stress and were more dissatisfied with their situation. However, this group already used natural remedies most frequently and was most often motivated to use relaxation techniques in the next 6 months. The lower the perceived individual energy level (EL), the less frequently patients did sport, the more frequently they felt their disease impaired their activity, mostly feeling stressed and tense. We also found significant associations between negative emotions/thoughts and the variables "sleep," "use of relaxation techniques," "personal stress perception," and "successful lifestyle modification." Conclusion Mind-Body programs that focus on patient's individual resources, with tools to explore impairing patterns of self-perception and cognitive biases, can be a valuable resource for oncology patients and should therefore be part of an integrative medical treatment concept.

Abstract
Background The relationship between anxiety, depression, and metabolic parameters and the incidence of breast nodules is unclear. This study aims to investigate the association between female breast nodules and anxiety, depression and metabolic factors. Methods This cross-sectional study recruited 857 individuals with biological indicators and breast ultrasound data from the Daping hospital from April 2021 to February 2022. Serum samples were used to measure fasting blood glucose, uric acid, triglycerides, total cholesterol, urea nitrogen, alanine transaminase, aspartate transaminase, albumin, high-density lipoprotein, low-density lipoprotein. Self-rating anxiety scale (SAS) and self-rating depression scale (SDS) were used to assess the level of anxiety and depression. Result The positive rate of breast nodules in women aged 40 to 49 years old was significantly higher than that of other age women. The proportion of participants aged 40-49 years old in the group with breast nodules was significantly higher than that in the group without breast nodules (34.6% vs. 16.9%, p<0.001). Breast nodules in postmenopausal women were significantly lower than those in premenopausal women (26.4% vs. 73.6%, p = 0.026). The SAS scores of women with breast nodules were higher than those of the no-nodules group (40.99 ± 8.45 vs. 38.94 ± 6.89, p<0.001), same as the SDS scores (41.97 ± 10.33 vs. 38.91 ± 7.60, p < 0.001). The number of women suffering from anxiety in the group of breast nodules was significantly higher than that in control (13.8% vs. 4.5%, p < 0.001), and the number of depression in the group of breast nodules was also significantly higher than that of in control (14.4% vs. 4.5%, p < 0.001). Women with breast nodules showed a slightly lower uric acid level than those without breast nodules (290.11 ± 65.32 vs. 301.43 ± 65.93 umol/L, p = 0.016). Multivariable logistic regression analysis showed that age, menopausal status, anxiety and depression status were significantly associated with the presence of breast nodules, but there was no significant difference in uric acid. Conclusion Our findings offer insight into the occurrence of depression and anxiety in the breast nodules of Chinese women. Anxiety and depression status, age and menopausal status may be the independent risk factors for the occurrence of breast nodules.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Diagnosis of breast cancer is associated with high psychological distress. There is a lack of studies examining the prevalence of anxiety among newly diagnosed breast cancer patients in Kazakhstan. OBJECTIVE This study aims to assess the mean prevalence and associated sociodemographic and clinical factors of anxiety symptoms in women newly diagnosed with breast cancer. It also aims to determine independent predictors of anxiety risk. METHODS An analysis of 162 newly diagnosed breast cancer patients at the oncology institute in Almaty was performed. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire on social, demographic, and clinical information, as well as the Beck Anxiety Inventory. In addition, multiple regression analysis was used to model the relationship between anxiety risk and independent predictors. RESULTS The average age of the patients was 54.41 years (SD=8.1; min.-max: 32-75). The majority of the patients were married (52%), employed or self-employed (51%), had children (91%), had a bachelor's or a graduate degree (50%), lived in an urban area (54%), did not drink (41%), did not smoke (67%), did not engage in physical activity (54%), and had social support (91%). A total of 48% of patients had symptoms of moderate anxiety, and 33% had symptoms of severe anxiety. Based on the multivariate analysis, factors associated with a lower risk of anxiety symptoms included higher household income (OR -2.21 (95 CI: -1.35, -3.07)) and having reliable social support (OR -2.93 (95% CI: -2.25, -3.61)). CONCLUSION The prevalence of anxiety symptoms is very high among newly diagnosed breast cancer patients. Anxiety is more likely to develop in patients from low-income households and those without reliable social support.

Abstract
Breast cancer (BC) is a major public health problem internationally. Although illness survival rates have improved, patients usually suffer multiple symptoms, both physical and psychological, which can affect their quality of life (QoL). The main aim of this study was to evaluate depressive symptoms, anxiety and the QoL of people with BC. An observational, cross-sectional study was carried out at Badajoz University Hospital (Spain). A total of 200 women with BC were included. EORTC QLQ-C30 and QLQ-BR23 questionnaires were used to assess QoL. Patients were screened for depressive symptoms using the Beck Depression Inventory (BDI) and for state anxiety and trait anxiety using the State Anxiety Inventory (STAI). Thirty-eight percent of the patients in the sample had moderate to severe anxiety, which was related to the time of diagnosis, advanced stage of illness and surgical treatment. We found that 28% of patients had depressive symptoms, related mainly with time of diagnosis, adjuvant therapy and number of cycles of chemotherapy (CT). Patients with the longest time since diagnosis, in stage III, and in treatment with CT, especially those with the greatest number of cycles, had the worst scores in QoL. We found a positive association between depressive symptoms and anxiety with QoL in patients with BC.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Few studies on anxiety in China have used the full version of the Spielberger State-Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI) due to its length, despite its numerous advantages. The goal of this study was to develop a short Chinese version of the STAI and examine its reliability and validity among the general Chinese population and psychiatric patients diagnosed with anxiety. METHOD A total of 1,142 participants were invited to test the short Chinese version of the STAI; item analysis, validity testing and internal consistency reliability analysis were performed. Subsequently, 40 participants were enrolled to assess retest reliability 1 week later. Finally, 330 participants, including 33 psychiatric patients with anxiety, were used to assess the criterion and empirical validity. The Self-Rating Anxiety Scale (SAS) and Satisfaction with Life Scale (SWLS) were used as criteria, and receiver operating characteristic (ROC) analysis was conducted to evaluate the discrimination of the short version of the STAI between the groups with and without anxiety disorders. RESULT The short Chinese version of the STAI contains six items for each subscale (STAI-S-6 and STAI-T-6). The Pearson correlation coefficients between the two shortened Chinese versions of the STAI and the full-length STAI were 0.970 and 0.962, the Cronbach's α coefficients were 0.871 and 0.842, and the retest reliability values were 0.728 and 0.813 (p < 0.001). Confirmatory factor analysis showed that the 2-factor model achieved an adequate model fit: for the STAI-S-6, CFI = 0.986, TLI = 0.974, and RMSEA = 0.075, and for the STAI-T-6, CFI = 0.994, TLI = 0.988, and RMSEA = 0.052. The short Chinese version of the STAI had a significant positive correlation with the SAS score (r = 0.289, 0.313; p < 0.001) and a negative correlation with the SWLS score (r = -0.476, 0.554; p < 0.001). A significant difference in the level of anxiety was found between participants with and without anxiety disorders. The diagnostic accuracy of the STAI-S-6 and STAI-T-6 for major anxiety disorder was acceptable, with areas under the ROC curves of 0.798 and 0.745, respectively. CONCLUSION The short Chinese version of the STAI demonstrates sound psychometric properties and is applicable in evaluating the level of anxiety in Chinese populations.
