Nocturia, the need to urinate at night, is a common symptom in patients with obstructive sleep apnoea (OSA). Continuous positive airway pressure treatment can reduce nocturia in some patients, but the underlying mechanisms are complex and not fully understood. OSA affects the autonomic nervous system, oxidative stress and endothelial damage. Furthermore, the commonly held theory attributing polyuria to a false signal of cardiac overload and response natriuresis has limitations. A comprehensive approach to the management of nocturia in OSA, considering factors such as comorbidities, medication use, alcohol consumption and lifestyle, is needed. Effective management of nocturia in OSA requires a multidisciplinary approach, and urologists should be aware of the potential effect of OSA on physiology and refer patients for further testing at a sleep centre. In addition to continuous positive airway pressure, other interventions such as oral appliances and surgical obstruction treatment could be beneficial for some patients. Overall, understanding the complex interplay between OSA and nocturia is crucial for optimizing patient outcomes.

Histology-guided mathematical model of tumor oxygenation: sensitivity analysis of physical and computational parameters

A hybrid off-lattice agent-based model has been developed to reconstruct the tumor tissue oxygenation landscape based on histology images and simulated interactions between vasculature and cells with microenvironment metabolites. Here, we performed a robustness sensitivity analysis of that model's physical and computational parameters. We found that changes in the domain boundary conditions, the initial conditions, and the Michaelis constant are negligible and, thus, do not affect the model outputs. The model is also not sensitive to small perturbations of the vascular influx or the maximum consumption rate of oxygen. However, the model is sensitive to large perturbations of these parameters and changes in the tissue boundary condition, emphasizing an imperative aim to measure these parameters experimentally.

Comparison between combination of tamsulosin and Pentoxifylline versus tamsulosin alone in the treatment of lower urinary tract symptoms due to benign prostate hyperplasia: A preliminary study

BACKGROUND

In older adults, bladder outlet obstruction (BOO) is prevalent, primarily due to benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). These patients' lower urinary tract symptoms can be treated surgically and with medical therapy. Compared to standard treatment with tamsulosin, Pentoxifylline, a phosphodiesterase inhibitor, could benefit patients with BOO due to its properties on microcirculatory blood flow and oxygenation of ischemic tissues. Hence, this trial intended to study the efficacy of Pentoxifylline combined with tamsulosin in treating BOO patients.

MATERIALS AND METHODS

This randomized, double-blind clinical trial recruited 60 patients with BPH from a single center in 2022. Upon consent of patients meeting the eligibility criteria, they were randomly allocated to intervention (Pentoxifylline + tamsulosin) and control (placebo + tamsulosin) groups. The patients were evaluated for international prostate symptom score (IPSS), quality of life (QoL), maximum urinary flow rate (Qmax ) by uroflowmetry, and post-void residual volume (PVR) by abdominal sonography at the onset of the study and after the 12th week.

RESULTS

Patients who used the combination therapy had significantly better results of prostate symptoms and quality of life improvement (IPSS: -36.6%, QoL: -45.3%) compared to patients who received tamsulosin alone (IPSS: -21.2%, QoL: -27.7%) (p < .001). Also, this study shows that the improvement in maximum urinary flow rate and residual volume by combination therapy is significantly higher (Qmax : +42.5%, PVR: -42.6%) compared to monotherapy (Qmax : +25.1%, PVR: -26.1%) (p < .001).

CONCLUSION

When combined with tamsulosin, Pentoxifylline could significantly improve the lower urinary symptoms of BPH patients. It is well tolerated, and the treatment outcomes are better in patients who receive the combination of Pentoxifylline and tamsulosin than those who only receive tamsulosin.

Role of circadian rhythms and melatonin in bladder function in heath and diseases

The circadian system modulates all visceral organ physiological processes including urine storage and voiding. The "master clock" of the circadian system lies within suprachiasmatic nucleus of the hypothalamus while "peripheral clocks" are found in most peripheral tissue and organs, including the urinary bladder. Disruptions of circadian rhythms can cause organ malfunction and disorder or exacerbate pre-existing ones. It has been suggested that nocturia, which develops mostly in the elderly, could be a circadian-related disorder of the bladder. In the bladder, many types of gap junctions and ion channels in the detrusor, urothelium and sensory nerves are likely under strict local peripheral circadian control. The pineal hormone, melatonin, is a circadian rhythm synchroniser capable of controlling a variety of physiological processes in the body. Melatonin predominantly acts via the melatonin 1 and melatonin 2 G-protein coupled receptors expressed in the central nervous system, and many peripheral organs and tissues. Melatonin could be beneficial in the treatment of nocturia and other common bladder disorders. The ameliorating action of melatonin on bladder function is likely due to multiple mechanisms which include central effects on voiding and peripheral effects on the detrusor and bladder afferents. More studies are warranted to determine the precise mechanisms of circadian rhythm coordination of the bladder function and melatonin influences on the bladder in health and diseases.

Initiating daily acute intermittent hypoxia (dAIH) therapy at 1-week after contusion spinal cord injury (SCI) improves lower urinary tract function in rat

Spinal cord injury (SCI) above the level of the lumbosacral spinal cord produces lower urinary tract (LUT) dysfunction, resulting in impairment of urine storage and elimination (voiding). While spontaneous functional recovery occurs due to remodeling of spinal reflex micturition pathways, it is incomplete, indicating that additional strategies to further augment neural plasticity following SCI are essential. To this end, acute intermittent hypoxia (AIH) exposure has been proposed as a therapeutic strategy for improving recovery of respiratory and other somatic motor function following SCI; however, the impact of AIH as a therapeutic intervention to improve LUT dysfunction remains to be determined. Therefore, we examined the effects of daily AIH (dAIH) on both spontaneous micturition patterns and reflex micturition event (rME) behaviors in adult female Sprague-Dawley rats with mid-thoracic moderate contusion SCI. For these experiments, dAIH gas exposures (five alternating 3 min 12% O₂ and 21% O₂ episodes) were delivered for 7 consecutive days beginning at 1-week after SCI, with awake micturition patterns being evaluated weekly for 2-3 sessions before and for 4 weeks after SCI and rME behaviors elicited by continuous infusion of saline into the bladder being evaluated under urethane anesthesia at 4-weeks after SCI; daily normoxia (dNx; 21% O₂ episodes) served as a control. At 1-week post-SCI, both an areflexic phenotype (i.e., no effective voiding events) and a functional voiding phenotype (i.e., infrequent voiding events with large volumes) were observed in spontaneous micturition patterns (as expected), and subsequent dAIH, but not dNx, treatment led to recovery of spontaneous void frequency pattern to pre-SCI levels; both dAIH- and dNx-treated rats exhibited slightly increased void volumes. At 4-weeks post-SCI, rME behaviors showed increased effectiveness in voiding in dAIH-treated (compared to dNx-treated) rats that included an increase in both bladder contraction pressure (delta BP; P = 0.014) and dynamic voiding efficiency (P = 0.018). Based on the voiding and non-voiding bladder contraction behaviors (VC and NVC, respectively) observed in the BP records, bladder dysfunction severity was classified into mild, moderate, and severe phenotypes, and while rats in both treatment groups included each severity phenotype, the primary phenotype observed in dAIH-treated rats was mild and that in dNx-treated rats was moderate (P = 0.044). Taken together, these findings suggest that 7-day dAIH treatment produces beneficial improvements in LUT function that include recovery of micturition pattern, more efficient voiding, and decreased NVCs, and extend support to the use of dAIH therapy to treat SCI-induced LUT dysfunction.

What is the real burden of the overactive bladder? Results from a national prevalence study

OBJECTIVE

To describe the prevalence of overactive bladder determining patient-reported outcome measures (PROMS) and potential risk factors.

METHODS

A cross-sectional population-based study to estimate lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) prevalence in the Colombian population was performed (COBaLT study). Overactive bladder (OAB) was assessed using 2002 International Continence Society definitions and the Report on the Terminology for Female Pelvic Floor Dysfunction. PROMS were included to evaluate participant's perceptions of health-related quality of life (QoL). Spanish validated questionnaires were used, including the International Consultation on Incontinence Questionnaire Overactive Bladder (ICIQ-OAB) and Patient Perception of Bladder Condition (PPBC) scale.

RESULTS

A total of 1060 individuals were assessed. The mean age of participants was 42.2 years, and most participants were Hispanic (93.15%). The overall prevalence of OAB syndrome was 31.70%, and it was more frequently reported in women than in men (39.25% vs. 24.15%). Most participants with OAB did not perceive their symptoms as bothersome. The most bothersome symptom, associated with moderate/severe impact in QoL was urinary urgency. According to the PPBC questionnaire 75.6% of the participants reported that their bladder condition does not cause any problem, while 11.% reported moderate to severe bother. The multivariable model showed high blood pressure and anxiety were associated with OAB in men. In females, depression, obstructive sleep apnea, IBS, and pelvic organ prolapse were associated with OAB syndrome.

CONCLUSIONS

Using the symptomatic definition of OAB can overestimate the real impact and burden of the condition, and treatment should be targeted to those symptomatic patients with QoL impairment as they would benefit from further management. The questionnaires seem to overestimate the condition, since we assessed it from a PROMS perspective there is not such a marked QoL impact.

Expression of NGF, MCP-1, uroplakin III, and NOS in bladder urothelium after partial urethral obstruction in rats

INTRODUCTION

Although several cytokines, chemokines, and growth factors have been suggested to play a role in the development of bladder fibrosis and functional changes, the mechanisms that are effective in the pathogenesis of partial bladder outlet obstruction (pBOO)-induced bladder fibrosis are not well understood.

OBJECTIVE

We investigated the expressions of nerve growth factor (NGF), monocyte chemoattractant protein-1 (MCP-1), uroplakin III (URPIII), inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS), and endothelial NOS (eNOS) that may be involved in fibrosis in rats with partial urethral obstruction for 1, 2 and 3 weeks, and the changes in the associated ischemic and inflammatory processes. After 1, 2, and 3 weeks of pBOO, blood samples were collected for assessment of renal function from the rats under anesthesia. The bladders were dissected for the tissue antioxidant enzyme activities and lipid peroxidation, including malondialdehyde (MDA), superoxide dismutase (SOD), total antioxidant status (TAS) and total oxidant status (TOS). The immunohistochemical studies were performed. Histopathologically, the number of urothelial layers was calculated and the thickness of the detrusor smooth muscle and lamina propria were quantitatively measured. Additionally, the edema and congestion in the submucosa were evaluated.

STUDY DESIGN

Twenty-eight male Sprague-Dawley rats were used in this study. Three separate experimental groups of pBOO (1 week [n = 7], 2 weeks [n = 7], and 3 weeks [n = 7]) were created, with an additional sham-operated control group (n = 7).

RESULTS

The MDA levels increased in pBOO groups. The SOD values were decreased in the pBOO group for 1 week, and higher in the 3-week pBOO group. The TAS levels were increased in the 3 week pBOO group. The TOS levels increased in the pBOO groups. The number of urothelial layers was decreased in pBOO groups. The lamina propria, the smooth muscle thickness, edema and congestion were increase in the 1 and 2 week pBOO groups. The NGF and MCP-1 expression was increased in the 1-week and 2-week pBOO groups. The expression of URPIII in the epithelium gradually increased in the pBOO groups. In the pBOO groups, iNOS expression in the epithelium cells was significantly elevated. However, the eNOS expression was also significantly increased in the 2 week pBOO group.

CONCLUSION

Our study shows that overexpression of immunohistochemical parameters together with the negative effects of ischemic and inflammatory processes that subjected to pBOO for 1, 2 and 3 weeks may play a potential role in detrusor fibrosis in the rat bladders induced by pBOO. However, understanding of the immunohistochemical parameters investigated in this experimental study is limited, and further studies targeting their relationship to pBOO could help us develop new strategies.

Uroflowmetry and Altitude Hypoxia: A Report from Healthy Italian Trekkers and Nepali Porters During Himalayan Expedition

Hypoxia alters micturition, which influences bladder function by involving different neurological and humoral systems. In this study we assessed the mid-term effects of altitude hypoxia on uroflowmetry in healthy male lowlander native Nepali porters and Italian trekkers, four each, who coattended a Himalayan expedition. All the participants completed a 19-day trek along a demanding route with ascent and descent at the Kanchenjunga Mountain. They underwent micturition and urodynamic analysis twice, at low altitude of 665 m a.s.l. and high altitude of 4,750 m a.s.l. Statistical comparisons considered the altitude effects (low vs. high) and ethnicity (Italian vs. Nepali). Food consumption was recorded, and water and energy intake were calculated. We found trends of borderline significance in the mean urinary flow rate (Q_mean) (p = 0.058; effect size η² p = 0.478) and in Q_max to the advantage of the Nepali. There was no evidence of differences when comparing time to Q_max and urine volume at Q_max and Q_mean for altitude or altitude × ethnicity. In addition, there was a lonely female participant, who, analyzed as a case report, showed increased Q_mean at high altitude. Older age mitigated while energy intake potentiated the ethnic differences noted in uroflowmetry. We conclude that altitude hypoxia rather inappreciably affects micturition in healthy men. However, a trend for possible ethnic differences raises worthy of note perspectives on adaptive ability of micturition. Also, dietary intake and age should be considered as confounding elements when evaluating micturition.

Urinary physiology and hypoxia: a pilot study of moderate-altitude trekking effects on urodynamic indexes

Exposure to high altitude is one of the most widely used models to study the adaptive response to hypoxia in humans. However, little is known about the related effects on micturition. The present study addresses the adaptive urinary responses in four healthy adult lowlanders, comparing urodynamic indexes at Kathmandu [1,450 m above sea level (a.s.l.); K1450] and during a sojourn in Namche Bazar (3,500 m a.s.l.; NB3500). The urodynamic testing consisted of cistomanometry and bladder pressure/flow measurements. Anthropometrics, electrocardiographic, and peripheral capillary oxygen saturation data were also collected. The main findings consisted of significant reductions in bladder power at maximum urine flow by ~30%, bladder contractility index by 13%, and infused volume both at first (by 57%) and urgency sensation (by 14%) to urinate, indicating a reduced cystometric capacity, at NB3500. In addition to the urinary changes, we found that oxygen saturation, body mass index, body surface area, and median RR time were all significantly reduced at altitude. We submit that the hypoxia-related parasympathetic inhibition could be the underlying mechanism of both urodynamic and heart rate adaptive responses to high-altitude exposure. Moreover, increased diuresis and faster bladder filling at altitude may trigger the anticipation of being able to void, a common cause of urgency. We believe that the present pilot study represents an original approach to the study of urinary physiology at altitude.

Functional changes in low- and high-threshold afferents in obstruction-induced bladder overactivity

Neural mechanisms of lower urinary tract symptoms in obstruction-induced bladder overactivity remain unclear. We made the first single unit recordings from different types of spinal afferents to determine the effects of bladder outlet obstruction in guinea pigs. A model of gradual bladder outlet obstruction in male guinea pigs was used to produce overactive bladder. Conscious voiding was assessed in metabolic cages, and micturition was recorded in anesthetized guinea pigs in vivo. Single unit extracellular recordings were made ex vivo from spinal afferent nerves in flat sheet preparations of the bladder. Guinea pigs with partially obstructed bladders showed a significant increase in conscious voiding frequency compared with sham-operated guinea pigs. Also, nonvoiding contractions increased significantly in both frequency and amplitude. Although spontaneous firing of low-threshold bladder afferents was increased, their stretch-induced firing was reduced. The proportion of capsaicin-sensitive low-threshold afferents increased in obstructed bladders. Interestingly, spontaneous and stretch-induced firing were both significantly increased in high-threshold afferents after obstruction. In summary, sensory signaling increased in the obstructed bladder during the filling phase. This is largely mediated by low-threshold stretch-sensitive afferents that are activated by increased local nonvoiding contractions. Increased spontaneous firing by high-threshold afferents also contributes. Our findings revealed a complex effect of bladder outlet obstruction on different types of bladder afferents that needs consideration for potential therapeutic targeting of lower urinary tract symptoms in obstruction-induced bladder overactivity.

Applicability of botulinum toxin type A in paediatric neurogenic bladder management

PURPOSE OF REVIEW

The purpose of this article is to provide an overview about the applicability of botulinum toxin type A (BTX-A) in paediatric neurogenic bladder based on the recently published literature combined with hypothetical notes and future perspectives.

RECENT FINDINGS

The indications, clinical outcomes, urodynamic outcome parameters and cost-effectiveness are presented from recent publications. Also, alternative routes of application of BTX-A in the bladder are discussed as well as the influence of BTX-A on conservative and invasive treatment.

SUMMARY

Intradetrusor BTX-A injections for neurogenic bladder dysfunction are effective in resolving both urinary incontinence and improving urodynamic parameters in most children with a sustained response at repeated injections. In low-compliance bladders, however, if no response is seen after initial BTX-A injection, repeated injections seem to be unnecessary. Because general anaesthesia is mandatory for BTX-A injections in children, alternative routes of application have been investigated such as intravesical installation, electromotive drug application and liposomal drug delivery; however, no definite results have been found in a paediatric clinical setting.

Concise Review: Tissue Engineering of Urinary Bladder; We Still Have a Long Way to Go?

Regenerative medicine is a new branch of medicine based on tissue engineering technology. This rapidly developing field of science offers revolutionary treatment strategy aimed at urinary bladder regeneration. Despite many promising announcements of experimental urinary bladder reconstruction, there has been a lack in commercialization of therapies based on current investigations. This is due to numerous obstacles that are slowly being identified and precisely overcome. The goal of this review is to present the current status of research on urinary bladder regeneration and highlight further challenges that need to be gradually addressed. We put an emphasis on expectations of urologists that are awaiting tissue engineering based solutions in clinical practice. This review also presents a detailed characteristic of obstacles on the road to successful urinary bladder regeneration from urological clinician perspective. A defined interdisciplinary approach might help to accelerate planning transitional research tissue engineering focused on urinary tracts. Stem Cells Translational Medicine 2017;6:2033-2043.

Hydrogen peroxide preferentially activates capsaicin-sensitive high threshold afferents via TRPA1 channels in the guinea pig bladder

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE

There is increasing evidence suggesting that ROS play a major pathological role in bladder dysfunction induced by bladder inflammation and/or obstruction. The aim of this study was to determine the effect of H₂ O₂ on different types of bladder afferents and its mechanism of action on sensory neurons in the guinea pig bladder.

EXPERIMENTAL APPROACH

'Close-to-target' single unit extracellular recordings were made from fine branches of pelvic nerves entering the guinea pig bladder, in flat sheet preparations, in vitro.

KEY RESULTS

H₂ O₂ (300-1000 μM) preferentially and potently activated capsaicin-sensitive high threshold afferents but not low threshold stretch-sensitive afferents, which were only activated by significantly higher concentrations of hydrogen peroxide. The TRPV1 channel agonist, capsaicin, excited 86% of high threshold afferents. The TRPA1 channel agonist, allyl isothiocyanate and the TRPM8 channel agonist, icilin activated 72% and 47% of capsaicin-sensitive high threshold afferents respectively. The TRPA1 channel antagonist, HC-030031, but not the TRPV1 channel antagonist, capsazepine or the TRPM8 channel antagonist, N-(2-aminoethyl)-N-[[3-methoxy-4-(phenylmethoxy)phenyl]methyl]thiophene-2-carboxamide, significantly inhibited the H₂ O₂ -induced activation of high threshold afferents. Dimethylthiourea and deferoxamine did not significantly change the effect of H₂ O₂ on high threshold afferents.

CONCLUSIONS AND IMPLICATIONS

The findings show that H₂ O₂ , in the concentration range detected in inflammation or reperfusion after ischaemia, evoked long-lasting activation of the majority of capsaicin-sensitive high threshold afferents, but not low threshold stretch-sensitive afferents. The data suggest that the TRPA1 channels located on these capsaicin-sensitive afferent fibres are probable targets of ROS released during oxidative stress.

The influence of altitude hypoxia on uroflowmetry parameters in women

There is scientific evidence to suggest a correlation between hypoxia and the physiology of micturition. During a Himalayan Scientific and Mountaineering Expedition, we performed tests to investigate the functional interactions between altitude hypoxia and uroflowmetry parameters in women. The tests were carried out in seven women (36.3 ± 7.1 yr) from normoxic [1,340 meters above sea level (m a.s.l.)] to hypoxic conditions (up to 5,050 m a.s.l.) and during the return descent. The following measures were determined: uroflowmetry parameters and saturation of peripheral oxygen (SpO2). As expected, SpO2 decreased from 97.7 to 77.8% with increasing altitude. Micturition flow time, flow volume, and voiding time increased with altitude ( P < 0.04 for all), indicating a negative correlation with SpO2. In conclusion, in young adult women, micturition physiological parameters were affected during adaptation to hypoxia; the correlation with SpO2 strongly suggests a role of hypoxia in these changes. These data could help to support the design of new strategies for both prevention and medical treatment. An example of the latter might be hyperbaric oxygen therapy, which in some studies has proved able to reduce the symptoms in patients with hypoxic bladder.

Ultrastructural and metabolic features of stress-adaptive rearrangements of myocardium in infants after surgery-induced up-regulation of lipoperoxidation processes

Surgical correction of complicated congenital heart disease in infants is terminated by postischemic reperfusion of myocardium accompanied with closure of more than 20% microvessels in the coronary bed by edematous endothelial cells, their bleb-like fragments, and aggregates of the blood formed elements. Degradation of the transmission capacity of the coronary microvessels developed in parallel with moderation of activity of the antiradical protection enzymes and positively correlated with the level of LPO secondary products, whose elevation during the surgery stages was not reduced by catalase activation.

Influence of sildenafil on blood oxygen saturation of the obstructed bladder

Background

Blood oxygen saturation (BOS) is decreased in a low-compliant, overactive obstructed bladder. The objective of this study is to determine the effect of Sildenafil (SC) on bladder function and BOS) in an in vivo animal model of bladder outlet obstruction.

Methods

Thirty-two guinea pigs; sham operated (n = 8), sham operated + SC (n = 8), urethrally obstructed (n = 8) and urethrally obstructed + SC (n = 8) were studied during an 8 week period. BOS of the bladder wall was measured by differential path-length spectroscopy (DPS) before obstruction, at day 0, and at week 8. The bladder function was evaluated by urodynamic studies every week.

Results

Before surgery and after sham operation all study parameters were comparable. After sham operation, bladder function and BOS did not change. In the obstructed group the urodynamic parameters were deteriorated and BOS was decreased. In the group obstruction + SC, bladder compliance remained normal and overactivity occurred only sporadic. BOS remained unchanged compared to the sham group and was significantly higher compared to the obstruction group.

Conclusions

In an obstructed bladder the loss of bladder function is accompanied by a significant decrease in BOS. Treatment of obstructed bladders with SC yields a situation of high saturation, high bladder compliance and almost no overactivity. Maintaining the microcirculation of the bladder wall might result in better bladder performance without significant loss of bladder function. Measurement of BOS and interventions focussing on tissue microcirculation may have a place in the evaluation / treatment of various bladder dysfunctions.

The impact of atherosclerosis on lower urinary tract function

OBJECTIVE

The current study was carried out to investigate the impact of atherosclerosis on lower urinary tract function in the male patients with lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS).

PATIENTS AND METHODS

This prospective study evaluated 110 male patients aged 55-75 years who were presented with LUTS. All patients underwent general and local investigations. The atherosclerosis was assessed by ultrasound examination of the carotid artery. Patients then were divided into two groups: non-atherosclerosis group (Group 1) and atherosclerosis group (Group 2). The two groups were compared regarding voiding and storage parameters.

RESULTS

Mean patient age were 67.9 ± 5.9 years. The average age and number of Group 1 was 65.7 ± 4.3, n = 51. The average age and number of Group 2 was 68.7 ± 5.3, n = 59. There were no significant differences in age, prostate volume, blood pressure, International Prostate Symptom Score, Voiding symptom score and Storage symptom score between the two groups. Blood serum triglycerides were significantly lower in Group 1 than Group 2 while HDL cholesterol were significantly higher in Group 1 than Group 2 0.97 ± 0.5 and 1.43 ± 0.2 mmol/L, versus 1.46 ± 0.7 and 1.28 ± 0.3 mmol/L, respectively. Qmax denotes significant decrease in Group 2 compared with Group 1 12.5 ± 6.3 versus 17.6 ± 6.5, respectively (p < 0.01). While in post-voiding residual urine, there was a significant increase in Group 2 compared with Group 1 82.2 ± 15.4 versus 51.4 ± 12.7, respectively (p < 0.01). Daytime voided urine denotes a significant decrease in Group 2 176 ± 48, compared with Group 1 221.2 ± 79 (p < 0.01). Daytime frequency and nocturia, were significantly higher in Group 2, compared with Group 1 8.90 ± 2.8 versus 7.16 ± 3.11, respectively, and 3.1 ± 1.2 versus 1.92 ± 1.12, respectively (p < 0.05).

CONCLUSION

The atherosclerosis disease play a significant role in the impairments of both voiding and storage function in male patients with LUTS irrelevant to the age.
