A Novel Framework for Data Assessment That Uses Edge Technology to Improve the Detection of Communicable Diseases

Spreading quickly throughout populations, whether animal or human-borne, infectious illnesses provide serious risks and difficulties. Controlling their spread and averting disinformation requires effective risk assessment and epidemic identification. Technology-enabled data analysis on diseases allows for quick solutions to these problems. A Combinational Data Assessment Scheme intended to accelerate disease detection is presented in this paper. The suggested strategy avoids duplicate data replication by sharing data among edge devices. It uses indexed data gathering to improve early detection by using tree classifiers to discern between various kinds of information. Both data similarity and index measurements are considered throughout the data analysis stage to minimize assessment errors. Accurate risk detection and assessment based on information kind and sharing frequency are ensured by comparing non-linear accumulations with accurate shared edge data. The suggested system exhibits high accuracy, low mistakes, and decreased data repetition to improve overall effectiveness in illness detection and risk reduction.

Medical knowledge graph completion via fusion of entity description and type information

Medical Knowledge Graphs (MKGs) are vital in propelling big data technologies in healthcare and facilitating the realization of medical intelligence. However, large-scale MKGs often exhibit characteristics of data sparsity and missing facts. Following the latest advances, knowledge embedding addresses these problems by performing knowledge graph completion. Most knowledge embedding algorithms rely solely on triplet structural information, overlooking the rich information hidden within entity property sets, leading to bottlenecks in performance enhancement when dealing with the intricate relations of MKGs. Inspired by the semantic sensitivity and explicit type constraints unique to the medical domain, we propose BioBERT-based graph embedding model. This model represents an evolvable framework that integrates graph embedding, language embedding, and type information, thereby optimizing the utility of MKGs. Our study utilizes not only WordNet as a benchmark dataset but also incorporates MedicalKG to compare and corroborate the specificity of medical knowledge. Experimental results on these datasets indicate that the proposed fusion framework achieves state-of-art (SOTA) performance compared to other baselines. We believe that this incremental improvement provides promising insights for future medical knowledge graph completion endeavors.

KGSCS-a smart care system for elderly with geriatric chronic diseases: a knowledge graph approach

BACKGROUND

The increasing aging population has led to a shortage of geriatric chronic disease caregiver, resulting in inadequate care for elderly people. In this global context, many older people rely on nonprofessional family care. The credibility of existing health websites cannot meet the needs of care. Specialized health knowledge bases such as SNOMED-CT and UMLS are also difficult for nonprofessionals to use. Furthermore, professional caregiver in elderly care institutions also face difficulty caring for multiple elderly people at the same time and working handovers. As a solution, we propose a smart care system for the elderly based on a knowledge graph.

METHOD

First, we worked with professional caregivers to design a structured questionnaire to collect more than 100 pieces of care-related information for the elderly. Then, in the proposed system, personal information, smart device data, medical knowledge, and nursing knowledge are collected and organized into a dynamic knowledge graph. The system offers report generation, question answering, risk identification and data updating services. To evaluate the effectiveness of the system, we use the expert evaluation method to score the user experience.

RESULTS

The results of the study showed that compared to existing tools (health websites, archives and expert team consultation), the system achieved a score of 8 or more for basic information, health support and Dietary information. Some secondary evaluation indicators reached 9 and 10 points. This finding suggested that the system is superior to existing tools. We also present a case study to help the reader understand the role of the system.

CONCLUSION

The smart care system provide personalized care guidelines for nonprofessional caregivers. It also makes the job easier for institutional caregivers. In addition, the system provides great convenience for work handover.

Interrelated feature selection from health surveys using domain knowledge graph

Finding patterns among risk factors and chronic illness can suggest similar causes, provide guidance to improve healthy lifestyles, and give clues for possible treatments for outliers. Prior studies have typically isolated data challenges from single-disease datasets. However, the predictive power of multiple diseases is more helpful in establishing a healthy lifestyle than investigating one disease. Most studies typically focus on single-disease datasets; however, to ensure that health advice is generalized and contemporary, the features that predict the likelihood of many diseases can improve health advice effectiveness when considering the patient's point of view. We construct and present a novel knowledge-based qualitative method to remove redundant features from a dataset and redefine the outliers. The results of our trials upon five annual chronic disease health surveys demonstrate that our Knowledge Graph-based feature selection, when applied to many machine learning and deep learning multi-label classifiers, can improve classification performance. Our methodology is compatible with future directions, such as graph neural networks. It provides clinicians with an efficient process to select the most relevant health survey questions and responses regarding single or many human organ systems.

An efficient and low complex model for optimal RBM features with weighted score-based ensemble multi-disease prediction

Multi-disease prediction is regarded as the capacity to simultaneously identify various diseases that are expected to be affected an individual at a certain period. These multiple diseases are seemed to be at various progression levels and need to be detected in the patient at the time of clinical visits. Diverse studies in the literature have included the predictive models for particular diseases yet, it is unable to notice humans with multiple diseases since humans are mostly suffered not only from a single disease but also from multiple diseases. Hence, this article aims to implement a novel multi-disease prediction model using an ensemble learning approach with deep features. The required data for the multi-disease prediction is collected from the standard datasets. Then, the collected data are given into the "Deep Belief Network (DBN)" approach, where the features are obtained from the RBM layers. These RBM features are tuned with the help of Deviation-based Hybrid Grasshopper Barnacles Mating Optimization (D-HGBMO) for improving the prediction performance. The optimized RBM features are considered in the ensemble learning model named Ensemble, in which the multi-disease prediction is performed with "Deep Neural Network (DNN), Extreme Learning Machine (ELM), and Long Short Term Memory." The predicted score from three classifiers is used in the optimized weighted score and thresholding-based final prediction using the same D-HGBMO for determining the accurate multi-disease prediction results. The experimental results show the effective performance of the proposed model by comparing it with the existing classifiers with the help of different quantitative measures.
