Abstract
In the present work, halloysite nanotubes modified with gold nanoparticles (AuNPs-HNT) are successfully prepared by wet chemical method for the catalytic degradation of phenothiazine dyes (azure B (AZB) and toluidine blue O (TBO)) and also cleaner reduction of 4-(4-nitrophenyl)morpholine (4NM) in the sodium borohydride (NaBH4) media. The catalyst is formulated by modifying the HNT support with a 0.964% metal loading using the HNT supports modified with 3-aminopropyl-trimethoxysilane (APTMS) coupling agent to facilitate the anchoring sites to trap the AuNPs and to prevent their agglomeration/aggregation. The AuNPs-HNT catalyst is investigated for structural and morphological characterization to get insights about the formation of the catalyst for the effective catalytic reduction of dyes and 4NM. The microscopic studies demonstrate that AuNPs (2.75 nm) are decorated on the outer surface of HNT. The as-prepared AuNPs-HNT catalyst demonstrates AZB and TBO dye degradation efficiency up to 96% in 10 and 11 min, respectively, and catalytic reduction of 4NM to 4-morpholinoaniline (MAN) is achieved up to 97% in 11 min, in the presence of NaBH4 without the formation of any by-products. The pseudo-first-order rate constant (K1) value of the AuNPs-HNT catalyst for AZB, TBO, and 4NM were calculated to be 0.0078, 0.0055, and 0.0066 s-1, respectively. Moreover, the synthesized catalyst shows an excellent reusability with stable catalytic reduction for 7 successive cycles for both the dyes and 4NM. A plausible mechanism for the catalytic dye degradation and reduction of 4NM by AuNPs-HNT catalyst is proposed as well. The obtained results clearly indicate the potential of AuNPs-HNT as an efficient catalyst for the removal of dye contaminants from the aquatic environments and cleaner reduction of 4NM to MAN, insinuating future pharmaceutical applications.

Abstract
Fabrication of low-loading, noble-metal, stable, and high-performance metal catalysts remains a thorny issue. Herein, we demonstrate the successful formation of a hybrid nanostructure Pt/TiO2/SBA-15 catalyst (denoted as HNSC-P/T/S; Pt, 0.09%; TiO2, 10%) with satisfactory activity in the hydrogenation of para-chloronitrobenzene (p-CNB). The HNSC-P/T/S showed >99% conversion and a high selectivity of >98%, and the turnover frequency number (TOF) reached 66 766 h-1, which was impossible to achieve with Pt/TiO2 (denoted as P/T) or Pt/SBA-15 (denoted as P/S). The success of the catalytic activity of the HNSC-P/T/S mainly relies on its synergistic effect and special structure, which can fully develop the catalytic ability of Pt, thereby reducing the Pt loading in the noble-based catalyst. Furthermore, the HNSC-P/T/S could also achieve an excellent catalytic activity in the hydrogenation of other nitroarenes. Hence, this work proposes a direction to prepare a noble-based catalyst with a low loading of noble metals for diverse applications.

Abstract
The development of efficient heterogeneous catalytic system to convert plentiful biomass to renewable bio-chemicals is urgent need. Titanate nanotubes-based materials obtained from hydrothermal treatment have been reported as low-cost and efficient catalytic materials in chemical syntheses for bio-based chemicals production with interesting catalytic performance. This mini-review expressly revealed the significance and potential of using titanate nanotubes based material as sustainable and environmentally benign solid catalysts/supports for synthesis of various bio-based chemicals, including glycerol-derived solketal, jet fuel range alkanes precursors, biomass-derived esters, aldehydes, aromatic compounds and so on. From the current knowledge on titanate nanotubes-based material via hydrothermal method here summarized, the future lines of research in the field of catalysis/supports for bio-based chemicals production are outlined.

Abstract
In the chemical industry, reactors are typically designed and filled with supported catalyst particles. However, the intrinsic problems associated with the internal/external diffusion effect and catalyst separation/loss in these traditional reactors can be very challenging to mitigate. To address these issues, herein, an active metal sintered membrane reactor anchored with Pt atoms was successfully developed, and applied into continuous, liquid-phase, hydrogenation processes. The catalyzing reactions transpired on the active sites that were fastened onto the surface of the reactor's microchannels. As a result, the mass transfer at the gas-liquid-solid three-phase was greatly enhanced, and an incredibly high reaction efficiency was obtained. The novel, active reactor demonstrated a superior catalytic performance and stability to nitrobenzene (NB) hydrogenation at 120 °C and 0.5 MPa H2, which enabled an aniline (ANI) yield of 19.28 molANI h-1 L-1. This work opens a new window for the design of high-performance gas-liquid-solid reactor toward multiphase catalytic reactions.

Abstract
In this work, Au nanoparticles, supported in Al2O3 nanowires (ANW) modified with (3-aminopropyl)trimethoxysilane were synthetized, for their use as catalysts in the hydrogenation reaction of 4-(2-fluoro-4-nitrophenyl)-morpholine and 4-(4-nitrophenyl)morpholin-3-one. ANW was obtained by hydrothermal techniques and the metal was incorporated by the reduction of the precursor with NaBH4 posterior to superficial modification. The catalysts were prepared at different metal loadings and were characterized by different techniques. The characterization revealed structured materials in the form of nanowires and a successful superficial modification. All catalysts show that Au is in a reduced state and the shape of the nanoparticles is spherical, with high metal dispersion and size distributions from 3.7 to 4.6 nm. The different systems supported in modified-ANW were active and selective in the hydrogenation reaction of both substrates, finding for all catalytic systems a selectivity of almost 100% to the aromatic amine. Catalytic data showed pseudo first-order kinetics with respect to the substrate for all experimental conditions used in this work. The solvent plays an important role in the activity and selectivity of the catalyst, where the highest efficiency and operational stability was achieved when ethanol was used as the solvent.

Abstract
In this study, nitrogen-doped carbon materials (labeled as NC-T) were easily prepared by thermal treatment of the melamine-chitosan composite. NC-T catalysts demonstrated good activity toward the reduction of nitro compounds by using hydrazine hydrate (N2H4·H2O) as the reductant. The activity of NC-T enhanced with the rise of the pyrolysis temperature because of the enhanced ratio of graphitic-type nitrogen, which might be the active sites for the reduction of nitro compounds. NC-950 showed high activity for the selective reduction of nitro compounds in hexane to produce amines at yields from 87.5 to 100% at 90 °C using 2 equiv of N2H4·H2O. The NC-950 catalyst demonstrated comparable or even higher catalytic activity in comparison with the reported metal catalysts. The hydrogenation of nitro compounds with N2H4·H2O proceeded via the direct way involving hydroxylamine as the reaction intermediate.
