Ethylene oligomerization reactions catalyzed by recyclable Fe(II), Ni(II) and Co(II) complexes immobilized on Fe3O4 magnetic nanoparticles

Highly Efficient Low-loaded PdOx/AlSiOx Catalyst for Ethylene Dimerization

Ethylene dimerization is an industrial process that is currently carried out using homogeneous catalysts. Here we present a highly active heterogeneous catalyst containing minute amounts of atomically dispersed Pd. It requires no co-catalyst(s) or activator(s) and significantly outperforms previously reported catalysts tested under similar reaction conditions. The selectivity to C4- and C6-hydrocarbons was about 80 % and 10 % at 42 % ethylene conversion at 200 °C using an industrially relevant feed containing 50 vol % ethylene, respectively. Our kinetic and catalyst characterization experiments complemented by density functional theory calculations provide molecular insights into the local environment of isolated Pd(II)Ox species and their role in achieving high activity in the target reaction. When the developed catalyst was rationally integrated with a Mo-containing olefin metathesis catalyst in the same reactor, the formed butenes reacted with ethylene to propylene with a selectivity of 98 % at about 24 % ethylene conversion.

Three-Component Synthesis of Substituted Perhydropyrans from β-Styrylmalonates, Aldehydes, and Alkoxyaluminum Dichlorides

A three-component synthesis of substituted dimethyl dihydro-2H-pyran-3,3(4H)-dicarboxylates in up to 80% yields by the reaction of β-styrylmalonates with aromatic or aliphatic aldehydes in the presence of ROAlCl2 prepared in advance either by exposure of EtAlCl2 with air access or by mixing equimolar amounts of AlCl3 with a primary or secondary alcohol has been developed. If EtAlCl2, itself, is used, dihydro-2H-pyran-3,3(4H)-diesters are not formed at all, while dimerization of styrylmalonates by (4 + 2)-annulation-type to give substituted tetrahydronaphthalenes is the main process. The possibility of using the CH-O-Al fragment of alkoxyaluminum dichlorides in cycloaddition reactions with α-CH-functionalization has been shown for the first time.

Synthesis of new functionalized magnetic nano adsorbents and adsorption performance for Hg(II) ions

Fe₃O₄@SiO₂-NH-nNG-SPTZ (including Fe₃O₄@SiO₂-NH-2NG-SPTZ, Fe₃O₄@SiO₂-NH-3NG-SPTZ) were prepared by 2-mercapto-5-(4-pyridyl)-1,3,4-thiadiazole and the reaction products of 3, 6-dichloropyridazine and cyanuric chloride with Fe₃O₄@SiO₂-NH₂ respectively. Fe₃O₄@SiO₂-S-nNG-SPTZ (including Fe₃O₄@SiO₂-S-2NG-SPTZ, Fe₃O₄@SiO₂-S-3NG-SPTZ) were prepared by 2-mercapto-5-(4-pyridyl)-1,3,4-thiadiazole and the reaction products of 3, 6-dichloropyridazine and cyanuric chloride with Fe₃O₄@SiO₂-SH respectively. Four novel adsorbents were characterized by SEM, TEM, FT-IR and XRD. Hg(II) ions removal efficiency of these adsorbents were more than 95%, in 15–20 min, at pH 7.0–8.0. It is easy to separate these adsorbents that adsorb mercury ions from the solution through magnets. These adsorbents have similar adsorption mechanism and have application value in the treatment of mercury ions in sewage and are worth studying.

Structural and ethylene oligomerization studies of chelating (imino)phenol Fe(ii), Co(ii) and Ni(ii) complexes: an experimental and theoretical approach

Experimental and theoretical data indicate that the stability and metal charge of N^O Fe(ii), Co(ii) and Ni(ii) complexes control their catalytic activities in ethylene oligomerization reactions.
