Abstract
Because of extraordinary optoelectronic properties, two-dimensional (2D) materials are the subject of intense study in recent times. Hence, we investigate sub-wavelength dipole cavities (hole array) as a sensing platform for the detection of 2D reduced graphene oxide (r-GO) using terahertz time-domain spectroscopy (THz-TDS). The r-GO is obtained by reducing graphene oxide (GO) via Hummer's method. Its structural characteristics are verified using X-ray diffraction (XRD) and Raman spectroscopy. We also assessed the morphology and chemistry of r-GO nanosheets by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDAX), and Fourier Transformed Infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy. Further, we studied the surface plasmon resonance (SPR) characteristics of r-GO nanosheets hybridized dipole cavities using THz-TDS by varying the r-GO thickness on top of the dipole cavities, since these cavities are well known for sustaining strong SPRs. Based on these, we experimentally obtained a sensitivity of 12 GHz/µm for the porous r-GO film. Thus, a modification in SPR characteristics can be employed towards the identification and quantification of r-GO by suitably embedding it on an array of dipole cavities. Moreover, we have adopted a generic approach that can be expanded to sense other 2D materials like Boron Nitride (BN), phosphorene, MoS2, etc., leading to the development of novel THz nanophotonic sensing devices.

Abstract
In recent years, ion electrolyte membranes (IEMs) preparation and properties have attracted fabulous attention in fuel cell usages owing to its high ionic conductivity and chemical resistance. Currently, perfluorinatedsulfonicacid (PFSA) membrane has been widely employed in the membrane industry in polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cells (PEMFCs); however, NafionTM suffers reduced proton conductivity at a higher temperature, requiring noble metal catalyst (Pt, Ru, and Pt-Ru), and catalyst poisoning by CO. Non-fluorinated polymers are a promising substitute. Polysulfone (PSU) is an aromatic polymer with excellent characteristics that have attracted membrane scientists in recent years. The present review provides an up-to-date development of PSU based electrolyte membranes and its composites for PEMFCs, alkaline membrane fuel cells (AMFCs), and direct methanol fuel cells (DMFCs) application. Various fillers encapsulated in the PEM/AEM moiety are appraised according to their preliminary characteristics and their plausible outcome on PEMFC/DMFC/AMFC. The key issues associated with enhancing the ionic conductivity and chemical stability have been elucidated as well. Furthermore, this review addresses the current tasks, and forthcoming directions are briefly summarized of PEM/AEMs for PEMFCs, DMFCs, AMFCs.

Abstract
Hydroxide exchange membrane fuel cells (AEMFC) are clean energy conversion devices that are an attractive alternative to the more common proton exchange membrane fuel cells (PEMFCs), because they present, among others, the advantage of not using noble metals like platinum as catalysts for the oxygen reduction reaction. The interest in this technology has increased exponentially over the recent years. Unfortunately, the low durability of anion exchange membranes (AEM) in basic conditions limits their use on a large scale. We present in this review composite AEM with one-dimensional, two-dimensional and three-dimensional fillers, an approach commonly used to enhance the fuel cell performance and stability. The most important filler types, which are discussed in this review, are carbon and titanate nanotubes, graphene and graphene oxide, layered double hydroxides, silica and zirconia nanoparticles. The functionalization of the fillers is the most important key to successful property improvement. The recent progress of mechanical properties, ionic conductivity and FC performances of composite AEM is critically reviewed.

Abstract
A kind of side-chain type anion exchange membranes (AEMs) with high ionic conductivity and good comprehensive stability was prepared via direct modification of commercial engineering plastic polyketone with diamines through Paal-Knorr reaction and quaternization reaction. It was found that the amount of diamine can effectively tune the microphase morphology and properties of the prepared quaternized functionalized-polyketone anion exchange membranes (QAFPK-AEMs). The tensile strength was increased from 18.6 MPa to 38.6 MPa, and the ion exchange capacity (IEC) was increased from 1.11 mmol/g to 2.71 mmol/g depending on the amount of added diamine. The QAFPK-1-6-AEM with the IEC of 1.43 mmol/g showed the highest hydroxide conductivity of 65 mS/cm at 25 °C and 96.8 mS/cm at 80 °C. The high ionic conductivity was achieved through the establishment of effective ionic channels, and it maintained 70% of the initial ionic conductivity after the 192 h treatment in 2 mol/L KOH (aq) at 80 °C. Moreover, a peak power density of 129 mW/cm2 was achieved when the assembled single cell with QAFPK-1-6-AEM was operated at 50 °C. Thus, the prepared QAFPK-AEMs showed great potential applications for the anion exchange membrane fuel cells (AEMFCs).

Abstract
Meldrum's acid (MA) is utilized as a monomer to polymerize with diisocyanates to result in polyamides, containing MA moieties at polymer chains. This reaction is also employed to prepare isocyanate-terminated polyamide segments which are utilized as a precursor for preparation of MA-containing polyurethanes. Based on the thermolysis reaction of MA groups, followed by ketene dimerization reaction, the reactive polyamides and polyurethanes show self-cross-linkable features. The cross-linked polyurethanes exhibit good film formability, thermal stability, and mechanical properties. A new MA-based polymerization method and a novel synthesis route for preparation of reactive polyamides and polyurethanes are demonstrated.
