Abstract
Bisphenol S (BPS) is a common pollutant in the environment and has posed a potential threat to aquatic animals and human health. To accurately assess the pollution level and ecological risk of BPS, there is an urgent need to establish simple and sensitive detection methods for BPS. In this study, BPS complete antigen was successfully prepared by introducing methyl 4-bromobutyrate and coupling bovine serum albumin (BSA). The monoclonal antibody against BPS (anti-BPS mAb) with high affinity (1: 256,000) was developed based on the BPS complete antigen, which showed low cross-reactivity with BPS structural analogues. Then, an electrochemical immunosensor was constructed to detect BPS using multi-walled carbon nanotubes and gold nanoflower composites as signal amplification elements and using anti-BPS mAb as the probe. The electrochemical immunosensor had a linear range from 1 to 250 ng⋅mL-1 and a limit of detection (LOD) down to 0.6 ng⋅mL-1. Additionally, a more stable and sensitive lateral flow immunoassay (LFIA) for BPS was developed based on iridium oxide nanoparticles, with a visual detection limit of 1 ng⋅mL-1, which was 10 times lower than that of classical Au-NPs LFIA. After evaluation of their stability and specificity, the reliability of these two methods were further validated by measuring BPS concentrations in the water and fish tissues. Thus, this study provides sensitive, robust and rapid methods for the detection of BPS in the environment and organisms, which can provide a methodological reference for monitoring environmental contaminants.

Abstract
This study describes the development of a highly sensitive amperometric biosensor for the analysis of phenolic compounds such as catechol. The biosensor architecture is based on the immobilization of tyrosinase (Tyr) on a screen-printed carbon electrode (SPE) modified with nanodiamond particles (ND), 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium hexafluorophosphate (IL) and poly-l-lysine (PLL). Surface morphologies of the electrodes during the modification process were evaluated by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX). Cyclic voltammetry (CV) and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) were used to investigate the electrochemical characteristics of the modified electrodes. Owing to the synergistic effect of the modification materials, the Tyr/PLL/ND-IL/SPE exhibited high sensitivity (328.2 μA mM-1) towards catechol with a wide linear range (5.0 × 10-8 - 1.2 × 10-5 M) and low detection limit (1.1 × 10-8 M). Furthermore, the method demonstrated good reproducibility and stability. The amperometric response of the biosensor towards other phenolic compounds such as bisphenol A, phenol, p-nitrophenol, m-cresol, p-cresol and o-cresol was also investigated. The analytical applicability of the biosensor was tested by the analysis of catechol in tap water. The results of the tap water analysis showed that the Tyr/PLL/ND-IL/SPE can be used as a practical and effective method for catechol determination.

MATERIALS (BASEL, SWITZERLAND) 2023; 16:2786. Abstract
1,5-Anhydroglucitol (1,5-AG) is a sensitive biomarker for real-time detection of diabetes mellitus. In this study, an electrochemical biosensor to specifically detect 1,5-AG levels based on persimmon-tannin-reduced graphene oxide-PtPd nanocomposites (PT-rGO-PtPd NCs), which were modified onto the surface of a screen-printed carbon electrode (SPCE), was designed. The PT-rGO-PtPd NCs were prepared by using PT as the film-forming material and ascorbic acid as the reducing agent. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), ultraviolet-visible spectroscopy (UV-vis), and X-ray diffraction (XRD) spectroscopy analysis were used to characterise the newly synthesised materials. PT-rGO-PtPd NCs present a synergistic effect not only to increase the active surface area to bio-capture more targets, but also to exhibit electrocatalytic efficiency to catalyze the decomposition of hydrogen peroxide (H2O2). A sensitive layer is formed by pyranose oxidase (PROD) attached to the surface of PT-rGO-PtPd NC/SPCE. In the presence of 1,5-AG, PROD catalyzes the oxidization of 1,5-AG to generate 1,5-anhydrofuctose (1,5-AF) and H2O2 which can be decomposed into H2O under the synergistic catalysis of PT-rGO-PtPd NCs. The redox reaction between PT and its oxidative product (quinones, PTox) can be enhanced simultaneously by PT-rGO-PtPd NCs, and the current signal was recorded by the differential pulse voltammetry (DPV) method. Under optimal conditions, our biosensor shows a wide range (0.1-2.0 mg/mL) for 1,5-AG detection with a detection limit of 30 μg/mL (S/N = 3). Moreover, our electrochemical biosensor exhibits acceptable applicability with recoveries from 99.80 to 106.80%. In summary, our study provides an electrochemical method for the determination of 1,5-AG with simple procedures, lower costs, good reproducibility, and acceptable stability.

Abstract
Gold nanochains (AuNCs) were prepared, and this novel material was combined with carboxylated multi-walled carbon nanotubes (cMWCNTs) to be a nanocomposite for the first time. The transmission electron microscopy (TEM), scanning electron microscope (SEM), energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and UV-Vis spectra were used to characterize the successful preparation of AuNCs and AuNC-cMWCNT composite. Based on this hybrid material, a voltammetric sensor of bisphenol A (BPA) was established. The proposed sensor displayed excellent performance for the measurement of BPA by obvious decreased anodic peak potential and enlarged peak current. Using the optimized conditions, BPA was detected using linear sweep voltammetry, and the linear range showed as wide as 0.5 μM to 2000 μM with the detection limit estimated to be 12 nM (S/N = 3). The as-proposed sensor also exhibited satisfactory performance in determining BPA of actual plastic samples.

Abstract
The detection and quantitation of bisphenol A (BPA) in the environment and food products has been a subject of considerable interest. BPA, a diphenylmethane derivative is a well-known industrial raw material with wide range of applications. It is a well-known endocrine disruptor and acts as an estrogen mimic. BPA is an environmental health concern and its accumulation in hydro-geological cycles is a matter of serious ecological peril. This review basically assesses various chemically modified electrodes composed of diverse components that have been employed to recognize BPA in different matrices. Electrochemical sensors prepared using graphene materials in combination with metals and polymers for selective detection of BPA have been discussed extensively. The emphasis is on detection of BPA in various samples encountered in routine use such as plastic bottles, receipts, baby feed bottles, milk samples, mineralized water, tissue paper, DVDs, and others. Although research in this field is in the exploratory stage, deeper insights into fundamental studies of sensing systems, fast analysis of real samples and validation of sensors are some of the factors that need major impetus. It is expected that chemically modified electrode-based sensing systems will soon take over as a viable option for monitoring diverse pollutants.

Abstract
A sensitive and fast approach has been introduced for the voltammetric sensing of bisphenol A based on modification of a paste electrode with Pt-SWCNTs and 1-ethyl-3-methylimidazolium n-butylsulfate as a highly conductive binder. The new sensor was used to determine the concentration of bisphenol A in food products in I-V mode. The Pt-SWCNTs nanocomposite was synthesized through the polyol method and its morphology was evaluated by field emission scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy and energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy techniques. The determining factors influencing the sensing performance, i.e., pH and mediators used in the modification process were optimized in the first step and the results showed that at a pH of 7.0, a modified paste containing 9% (w:w) nanocomposite and 20% (v:v) 1-ethyl-3-methylimidazolium n-butylsulfate formed catalytic properties enhancing the oxidation signal of bisphenol A by 5.9 folds. Current density investigation clearly confirmed the conductivity of Pt-SWCNTs and 1-ethyl-3-methylimidazolium n-butylsulfate in the paste matrix. In addition, fabricated sensor showed considerable sensing behavior for bisphenol A in the concentration range of 0.5 nM-180 μM with a detection limit of 0.2 nM. In the final step, using standard addition technique, the ability of fabricated sensor for sensing bisphenol A in food products was evaluated, and the results confirmed improved performance of the modified electrodes.

Abstract
A multilayered iron oxide/reduced graphene oxide (ION-RGO) nanocomposite electrode is reported for the voltammetric sensing of bisphenol-A (BPA). Structural characterizations reveal the nanocomposite features RGO sheets decorated with nanometric spherical ION in a mixture of maghemite and magnetite phases. ITO substrate modified with the ION-RGO multilayered film exhibits strong electrocatalytic effect toward BPA oxidation, which is made possible by Fe(III) catalysts generated at the ION's surface after scanning the electrode potential from below 0 V (vs Ag/AgCl) and followed by the RGO phase conducting the transferred electrons. Under optimized differential pulse voltammetry conditions, the proposed sensor shows three linear working ranges 0.09-1.17 (r2 = 0.999), 1.17-3.81 (r2 = 0.995) and 3.81-8.20 (r2 = 0.998), with the highest sensitivity equaling 7.76 μA cm-2/μmol L-1 and the lowest limit of detection of 15 nmol L-1. A single electrode can be used for at least twenty consecutive runs loosing less than 15% of sensitivity, whereas electrodes fabricated in different bacthes exhibit almost identical perfomances. Determination of BPA in a thermal paper sample shows no difference (at 95% confidence level) between the proposed sensor and HPLC/UV. The sensor is neither influenced by the matrix composition nor by other emerging contaminants.

Abstract
It is widely accepted that nanotechnology attracted more interest because of various values that nanomaterial applications offers in different fields. Recently, researchers have proposed nanomaterials based electrochemical sensors and biosensors as one of the potent alternatives or supplementary analytical tools to the conventional detection procedures that consumes a lot of time. Among different nanomaterials, researchers largely considered magnetic nanomaterials (MNMs) for developing and fabricating the electrochemical (bio)sensors for numerous utilizations. Among several factors, healthier and higher quality foods are the most important preferences of consumers and manufacturers. For this reason, developing new techniques for rapid, precise as well as sensitive determination of components or contaminants of foods is very important. Therefore, developing the new electrochemical (bio)sensors in food analysis is one of the key and effervescent research fields. In this review, firstly, we presented the properties and synthesis strategies of MNMs. Then, we summarized some of the recently developed MNMs-based electrochemical (bio)sensors for food analysis including detecting the antioxidants, synthetic food colorants, pesticides, heavy metal ions, antibiotics and other analytes (bisphenol A, nitrite and aflatoxins) from 2010 to 2020. Finally, the present review described advantages, challenges as well as future directions in this field.

Abstract
Contamination of environmental sources such as soils, sediments and rivers and human exposure caused by several endocrine disrupting compounds (EDCs) are considered as the most challenging issues of today's world. EDCs cover a wide variety of compounds ranging from phthalates to parabens and bisphenols (BPs) are the leading group among them. BPs are widely used during the production of different plastic materials such as food and beverage containers, toys, medical equipment and baby bottles that we use in every aspect of our lives. BPs may migrate from those products to different media under certain conditions and this situation causes chronic exposure for humans and other creatures in the environment. Especially bisphenol A (BPA) and its other analogues such as bisphenol F, bisphenol S and tetrabromobisphenol that have similar structures and are preferred as alternatives to BPA cause harmful adverse effects such as endocrine disruption, neurotoxicity, genotoxicity and cytotoxicity. There are legal restrictions and prohibitions by the European Union (EU) in order to prevent possible harmful effects. Therefore, it is important to develop highly sensitive, fast, easy to use and cheap sensors for the determination of BPs in biological, environmental and commercial samples. Electrochemical sensors, which are one of the most widely, used analytical techniques, provide these conditions. Additionally, it is possible to enhance the performance of electrochemical sensors with nanomaterials, molecularly imprinted polymers or aptamer based technologies. This review aims to give comprehensive information about BPs with summarizing most recent applications of electrochemical sensors for their determination in different samples.

Abstract
A simple, sensitive, and effective adsorptive stripping voltammetric sensor for the detection of trace-level promethazine was created based on a gold nanoparticle-graphene nanoplatelet-modified glassy carbon electrode (AuNP-GrNP/GCE). AuNP-GrNP nanocomposites were synthesized using an electroless deposition process, and the morphology was characterized using UV-vis spectroscopy, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, field emission scanning electron microscopy, and energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy. The electrochemical behavior and detection of promethazine at the AuNP-GrNP/GCE were investigated utilizing cyclic voltammetry and adsorptive stripping voltammetry. The AuNP-GrNP/GCE showed outstanding synergistic electrochemical activity for promethazine oxidation, a highly active surface area, great adsorptivity, and outstanding catalytic properties. The electrolyte pH, amount of AuNP-GrNP nanocomposite, preconcentration potential (vs. Ag/AgCl), and time were optimized to obtain a high performance electrochemical sensor. Under optimal conditions, the proposed sensor displayed two linear concentration ranges from 1.0 nmol L-1 to 1.0 μmol L-1 and from 1.0 to 10 μmol L-1. The limits of detection and quantitation were 0.40 and 1.4 nmol L-1, respectively. This sensor displayed high sensitivity, a capability for rapid analysis, and excellent repeatability and reproducibility. The developed sensor was effective and practical for promethazine detection in biological fluids and forensic samples, and the obtained results exhibited excellent agreement with the results obtained using the method described in the British Pharmacopoeia. Abstract
Herein, a label-free electrochemical aptasensor for alpha-fetoprotein (AFP) analysis was established. The AFP aptamer (AFP-Apt), as the recognition molecule, was immobilized on the surface of a screen-printed carbon electrode, which was modified by gold-platinum metallic nanoparticles and reduced graphene oxide-chitosan-ferrocene nanohybrids (Au-Pt NPs/RGO-CS-Fc), to build the AFP electrochemical aptasensor. The construction process of the aptasensor was characterized by scanning electron microscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, Raman spectroscopy, and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. With the addition of AFP, the formation of the AFP-aptamer conjugation blocked the electron transfer reaction, reducing the differential pulse voltammetric responses of the current of Fc in the RGO-CS-Fc nanohybrids. By optimizing the experimental parameters, AFP could be detected with the dynamic concentration range of 0.001 to 10.0 μg mL-1 and with a detection limit of 0.3013 ng mL-1. In addition, the approach was manifested to have good selectivity, reproducibility, and stability. The fabricated aptasensor had a good recovery rate of 102.36% to 118.09% in real human serum samples. This work demonstrates that the electrochemical aptasensor is a useful tool for analyzing AFP inexpensively, rapidly, and accurately.

Abstract
In recent years, several studies have focused on environmental pollutants. Bisphenol A (BPA) is one prominent industrial raw material, and its extensive utilization and release into the environment constitute an environmental hazard. BPA is considered as to be an endocrine disruptor which mimics hormones, and has a direct relationship to the development and growth of animal and human reproductive systems. Moreover, intensive exposure to the compound is related to prostate and breast cancer, infertility, obesity, and diabetes. Hence, accurate and reliable determination techniques are crucial for preventing human exposure to BPA. Experts in the field have published general electrochemical procedures for detecting BPA. The present timely review critically evaluates diverse chemically modified electrodes using various substances that have been reported in numerous studies in the recent decade for use in electrochemical sensors and biosensors to detect BPA. Additionally, the essential contributions of these substances for the design of electrochemical sensors are presented. It has been predicted that chemically modified electrode-based sensing systems will be possible options for the monitoring of detrimental pollutants.

Abstract
A Glypican-3 (GPC3) electrochemical aptamer nanobiosensor based on hemin/graphene nanohybrids (HGNs) peroxidase-like catalytic silver deposition and GPC3 aptamer has been constructed for the determination of GPC3. The HGNs were prepared by an one-step reduction method. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), ultraviolet spectroscopy (UV-vis), and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) were used to study the structure and morphological characteristics of the HGNs. The GPC3 electrochemical aptamer nanobiosensor was constructed using HGNs-aptamer (HGNs-Apt) as the signal probe and GPC3 aptamer as the capture probe. With the help of the catalytic action of peroxidase-like properties of HGNs, H2O2 reduces the silver (Ag) ions in solution to metallic Ag, which deposit on the surface of the electrode. The amount of deposited Ag, which was derived from the amount of GPC3, was quantified by differential pulse voltammetry (DPV). Under optimal conditions, the current response of Ag had a good positive correlation with the GPC3 concentration in the range 10.0-100.0 μg mL-1 with a correlation coefficient of 0.9958. The detection limit was 3.16 μg mL-1 at a signal-to-noise ratio of 3, and the sensitivity was calculated to be 0.807 μA μM-1 cm-2. The method is validated by analyzing spiked human serum samples with good recovery ranging from 101 to 122%. In addition, the GPC3 electrochemical aptamer nanobiosensor has acceptable selectivity, stability, and reproducibility. Graphical abstract A Glypican-3 electrochemical aptamer nanobiosensor based on hemin/graphene nanohybrids (HGNs) peroxidase-like catalytic silver deposition and GPC3 aptamer has been constructed for the determination of GPC3. The electrochemical aptamer nanobiosensor exhibits high selectivity, acceptance reproducibility, and good recovery performances.

Abstract
Three-dimensional (3D) porous graphene oxide-maize amylopectin (GO-MA) composites with controllable pore-sizes composites in the range of 6-40 nm were prepared by facile hydrothermal-assisted assembly approaches. The morphologies, pore sizes, specific surface area (SSA) and compositions of GO-MAx:y composites with and different GO-to-MA mass ratios (x:y) were characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), N2 adsorption-desorption isotherms, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). To reveal the adsorption-desorption mechanism, effects of contact time, temperature, initial adsorbate concentration, pH value of the solution on the adsorption process were studied in detail. The adsorption capacities of 3D GO-MA20:1 composite for organic contaminants including tert-butyl hydroquinone (TBHQ), p-aminophenol (PAP), p-nitrophenol (PNP), o-nitrophenol (MNP), hydroquinone (HQ), alizarin red S (ARS) and neutral red (NR) were 22.17, 116.4, 44.78, 36.96, 16.10, 39.92 and 24.23 mg g-1, respectively. The adsorption capacities of GO-MA30:1 composite for inorganic substances including Pb2+, Mn2+, Cr2O72-, Cd2+, Cu2+, Nd3+, La3+, Y3+, Yb3+ and Er3+ were 84.76, 7.92, 13.6, 17.64, 30.56, 25.52, 12.48, 16.96, 23.32 and 30.32 mg g-1, respectively. In addition, GO-MAx:y composites also exhibited high mechanical properties and good reusability. Consequently, GO-MAx:y composites could be used as reusable adsorbents for removal/enrichment inorganic/organic substances in aqueous solutions.

Abstract
Graphene nanoplatelets (GNPs), multiwalled carbon nanotube (MWCNTs) and chitosan (CS) were self-assembled by a facile one-step hydrothermal reaction to obtain novel MWCNTs-CS enfolded GNPs (GNPs-MWCNTs-CS) composite. Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy, Raman spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), UV-visible (UV-vis) absorption spectroscopy and zeta potential analysis were employed to characterize the morphology, surface composition, interaction, surface charge and stability of the GNPs-MWCNTs-CS composite. The electrochemical behaviors of GNPs-MWCNTs-CS composite modified glassy carbon electrode (GNPs-MWCNTs-CS/GCE) were investigated using cyclic voltammetry (CV) and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). The GNPs-MWCNTs-CS/GCE was used for fast and high sensitive determination of bisphenol A (BPA) by differential pulse voltammetry (DPV). Under the optimum conditions, the calibration curve obtained is linear for the current versus the BPA concentration in the range 0.1-100 μM with a detection limit of 0.05 nM (signal-to-noise ratio of 3, S/N = 3). The between-sensor reproducibility was 1.29% (n = 6) for 0.04 mM BPA. The proposed GNPs-MWCNTs-CS/GCE based sensor showed high resistance to interference, good repeatability and excellent reproducibility. Trace BPA in milk samples could also be reliably determined.

Abstract
In this study, platinum nanochains (PtNCs), multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) and graphene nanoparticles (GNPs) were assembled together to form a novel nanocomposite by a facile ultrasonic-assisted blending process. The PtNCs-MWCNTs-GNPs nanocomposite was characterized by high resolution transmission electron microscopy (HR-TEM), energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and X-ray diffraction (XRD). The nanocomposite was used for the modification of glass carbon electrode (GCE) and simultaneous determination of dopamine (DA) and ascorbic acid (AA) by differential pulse voltammetry (DPV) and cycle voltammetry (CV). Under the optimum conditions, the calibration curves obtained are linear for the currents versus DA and AA concentrations over the range 2.00-50.0 μM and 100-1200 μM, respectively. And the detection limits for DA and AA are 0.500 μM and 10.0 μM, respectively. The detection and quantitative analysis of DA and AA in human serum and vitamin C tablets on PtNCs-MWCNTs-GNPs/GCE gave the recoveries of 104-110% and 101-108% with relative standard deviations (RSD) of 4.36-7.48% and 0.620-2.90%, respectively. The proposed PtNCs-MWCNTs-GNPs composite could provide a new platform for the routine analysis of DA and AA in terms of its good anti-interference ability, excellent reproducibility and repeatability, and feasibility of use.
