Abstract
Ascorbic acid (AA) is a highly water-soluble organic chemical compound and plays a significant role in human metabolism. For the purpose of food quality monitoring, this study focuses on the development of a smartphone-integrated colorimetric and non-enzymatic electrochemical Corylus Colurna (CC) extract-Cu2O nanoparticles (Cu2O NPs) biosensor to detect AA in real food samples. The characterization of the CC-Cu2O NPs was determined using SEM, SEM/EDX, HRTEM, XRD, FTIR, XPS, TGA, and DSC. The CC-Cu2O NPs are cubic in shape with an approximate size of 10 nm. According to electrochemical results, the oxidation of AA at the modified electrode exhibited a LOD of 27.92 nmolL-1 in a wide concentration range of 0.55-22 mmolL-1. The fabricated digital CC-Cu2O NPs sensor successfully detected AA in food samples. This strategy provides a nanoplatform to determine the detection of AA in food samples.

Abstract
Glassy carbon electrode (GCE) was electrochemically activated using a repetitive cyclic voltammetric technique to develop an activated glassy carbon electrode (AGCE). The developed AGCE was optimized and utilized for the electrochemical assay of 4-nitrophenol (4-NP) and dopamine (DA). Cyclic voltammetry (CV) was employed to investigate the electrochemical behavior of the AGCE. Compared to the bare GCE, the developed AGCE exhibits a significant increase in redox peak currents of 4-NP and DA, which indicates that the AGCE significantly improves the electrocatalytic reduction of 4-NP and oxidation of DA. The electrochemical signature of the activation process could be directly associated with the formation of oxygen-containing surface functional groups (OxSFGs), which are the main reason for the improved electron transfer ability and the enhancement of the electrocatalytic activity of the AGCE. The effects of various parameters on the voltammetric responses of the AGCE toward 4-NP and DA were studied and optimized, including the pH, scan rate, and accumulation time. Differential pulse voltammetry (DPV) was also utilized to investigate the analytical performance of the AGCE sensing platform. The optimized AGCE exhibited linear responses over the concentration ranges of 0.04-65 μM and 65-370 μM toward 4-NP with a lower limit of detection (LOD) of 0.02 μM (S/N = 3). Additionally, the AGCE exhibited a linear responses over the concentration ranges of 0.02-1.0 and 1.0-100 μM toward DA with a lower limit of detection (LOD) of 0.01 μM (S/N = 3). Moreover, the developed AGCE-based 4-NP and DA sensors are distinguished by their high sensitivity, excellent selectivity, and repeatability. The developed sensors were successfully applied for the determination of 4-NP and DA in real samples with satisfactory recovery results.

Abstract
The development of sensitive and selective sensors using facile and low-cost methods for detecting neurotransmitter molecules is a critical factor in the health care system in regard to early diagnosis. In this research, an electrocatalyst derived from Mo,Zn dual-doped CuxO nanocrystals-based layer coating over one-dimensional copper nanowire arrays (Mo,Zn-CuxO/CuNWs) was successfully designed using a facile electrodeposition approach and used as an electrochemical sensor for non-enzymatic dopamine (DA) neurotransmitter detection. The synergistic effect caused by the dual-doping effect along with its excellent conductivity produced a large electroactive surface area and an improved hetero-charge transfer, thereby boosting DA sensing ability with a low limit detection of 0.32 µM, wide-range of detection (0.5 µM - 3.9 mM), long-term stability (5 weeks), and high selectivity in phosphate buffer solution (pH 7.4). Also, the sensor accurately determined DA in real blood serum-spiked solutions. The achieved results evidenced that the Mo,Zn-CuxO/CuNWs derived sensor is highly suitable for DA detection. Therefore, it also opens new windows for the development of low-cost, accurate, high-performance, and stable sensors for other neurotransmitter sensing for the purposes of better health care and early diagnosis.

Abstract
Dopamine (DA) is an important neurotransmitter, which is created and released from the central nervous system. It plays a crucial role in human activities, like cognition, emotions, and response to anything. Maladjustment of DA in human blood serum results in different neural diseases, like Parkinson's and Schizophrenia. Consequently, researchers have started working on DA detection in blood serum, which is undoubtedly a hot research area. Electrochemical sensing techniques are more promising to detect DA in real samples. However, utilizing conventional electrodes for selective determination of DA encounters numerous problems due to the coexistence of other materials, such as uric acid and ascorbic acid, which have an oxidation potential close to DA. To overcome such problems, researchers have put their focus on the modification of bare electrodes. The aim of this review is to present recent advances in modifications of most used bare electrodes with carbonaceous materials, especially graphene, its derivatives, and carbon nanotubes, for electrochemical detection of DA. A brief discussion about the mechanistic phenomena at the electrode interface has also been included in this review.

Abstract
The present study reports the development of an electrochemical sensor based on sulfobutylether-β-cyclodextrin modified reduced graphene oxide hybrid (SBCD-rGO) for simultaneous detection of nitrophenol isomers. First, SBCD-rGO hybrid was synthesized and detailed characterized. Afterwards, a sensor was fabricated via the modification of glassy carbon electrode (GCE) with SBCD-rGO, and its electrochemical detection performances were also investigated. Then, the constructed electrochemical sensor was applied to detect nitrophenol isomers by voltammetry analysis. The results suggested that the sensitivities were 389.26, 280.88 and 217.19 μA/mM for p-nitrophenol (p-NP), m-nitrophenol (m-NP), and o-nitrophenol (o-NP), respectively, and their corresponding detection limits were all about 0.05 μM. Significantly, the combination of voltammetry analysis with the constructed sensor and data analysis by multiple linear regression realized the simultaneous detection of nitrophenol isomers.

Abstract
Background: Copper oxide nanoparticles doped with nonprecious metal species (Ni and Mn) were synthesized. Method: A glassy carbon electrode (GCE) was modified by drop-casting of nanostructure suspensions, constructing Ni:Cu(OH)2/GCE, Mn:Cu(OH)2/GCE and Cu(OH)2/GCE. Results: The voltammetric oxidation of dopamine (DA) by the constructed electrodes confirmed that the electrocatalytic oxidation of DA is a reversible, pH-dependent, diffusion-controlled process; the best response was obtained by Mn:Cu(OH)2/GCE. A sensitive calibration graph (0.664 μA/μM) was produced for DA in the concentration range of 0.3-10.0 μM, with a detection limit of 79 nM using Mn:Cu(OH)2/GCE. Conclusion: The Mn:Cu(OH)2/GCE possessed an accurate response toward DA with an acceptable selectivity, stability and antifouling effect, revealing the applicability of the Mn:Cu(OH)2/GCE for DA analysis in biological samples.

Abstract
Understanding the mechanism of metal electrodeposition on graphene as the simplest building block of all graphitic materials is important for electrocatalysis and the creation of metal contacts in electronics. The present work investigates copper electrodeposition onto epitaxial graphene on 4H-SiC by experimental and computational techniques. The two subsequent single-electron transfer steps were coherently quantified by electrochemistry and density functional theory (DFT). The kinetic measurements revealed the instantaneous nucleation mechanism of copper (Cu) electrodeposition, controlled by the convergent diffusion of reactant to the limited number of nucleation sites. Cu can freely migrate across the electrode surface. These findings provide fundamental insights into the nature of copper reduction and nucleation mechanisms and can be used as a starting point for performing more sophisticated investigations and developing real applications.

Abstract
The immense need to build highly efficient catalysts has always been at the forefront of environmental remediation research. Herein, we have synthesized dual-phase copper oxide containing Cu2O and CuO originating from the same reaction using hexamethyltetramine (HMT). Simultaneously, we coupled it with g-C3N4 (g-CN), constructing a triple synergetic heterojunction, which is reported significantly less often in the literature. Hydrothermal reactions led to the formation of various catalysts, namely, Ag-Cu2O-CuO-gCN (ACCG), Ag-CuO-gCN (ACG), Ag-Cu2O-CuO (ACC) and Ag-CuO (AC), which were thoroughly characterized via XRD and FESEM to gain structural, crystallographic and morphological insights. We clearly observed the pure phase formation of the catalysts and the development of sheet-like CuO and truncated octahedrons of Cu2O fused together within the g-CN framework. Also, XPS studies revealed the presence of copper in two different oxidation states, namely, Cu2+ and Cu+. BET analysis was performed to analyze the surface area and pore volume of the catalysts, which play very significant roles in catalytic reduction. The catalytic efficiencies of the catalysts were evaluated via the reduction of 100 ppm 4-nitrophenol (4-NP) to 4-aminophenol (4-AP) without using any light irradiation. The most efficient catalyst was ACCG, revealing the reduction of 4-NP in 4 minutes. Both Cu2O and g-CN played significant roles in reduction, following zero-order kinetics, unlike that which is often reported in the literature. We also evaluated the catalytic reduction with different concentrations of 4-NP and tuning the catalyst amount as well. A mechanism was postulated based on the XRD results of the post-catalytic reduction catalyst. The ACCG catalyst was also successfully tested as an effective dopamine sensor. The GC/ACCG electrode exhibited oxidation peak current density of 0.28 mA cm-2, which was much higher than those of the other catalysts. This unique combination of pure phase materials to form a composite as an effective catalyst as well as a sensor is an exclusive effort towards environmental remediation.
