Preparation and Application of Carbon Dots Nanozymes

Carbon dot (CD) nanozymes have enzyme-like activity. Compared with natural enzymes, CD nanozymes offer several advantages, including simple preparation, easy preservation, good stability and recycling, which has made them a popular research topic in various fields. In recent years, researchers have prepared a variety of CD nanozymes for biosensing detection, medicine and tumor therapy, and many of them are based on oxidative stress regulation and reactive oxygen species clearance. Particularly to expand their potential applications, elemental doping has been utilized to enhance the catalytic capabilities and other properties of CD nanozymes. This review discusses the prevalent techniques utilized in the synthesis of CD nanozymes and presents the diverse applications of CD nanozymes based on their doping characteristics. Finally, the challenges encountered in the current utilization of CD nanozymes are presented. The latest research progress of synthesis, application and the challenges outlined in the review can help and encourage the researchers for the future research on preparation, application and other related researches of CD nanozymes.

A new and highly efficient CuMOF-based nanoenzyme and its application to the aptamer SERS/FL/RRS/Abs quadruple-mode analysis of ultratrace malachite green

Malachite green (MG) is highly toxic, persistent, and carcinogenic, and its widespread use is a danger to the ecosystem and a threat to public health and food safety, making it necessary to develop new sensitive multimode molecular spectroscopy methods. In this work, a new copper-based nanomaterial (CuNM) was prepared by a high-temperature roasting using a copper metal-organic framework (CuMOF) as precursor. The as-prepared CuNM was characterized using X-ray diffraction (XRD), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, transmission electron microscopy (TEM), and BET surface area analysis. CuNM was found to catalyze the oxidation of 3,3',5,5'-tetramethylbenzidine (TMB) by H2O2 to produce the oxidation product TMBOX; however, subsequently, the MG aptamer (Apt) could be adsorbed on the CuNM surface by intermolecular interaction, which would inhibit the catalytic performance. After the addition of MG to be tested, the CuNM previously adsorbed by the Apt was transformed into its free state, thus restoring its catalytic activity. This new nanocatalytic indicator reaction could be monitored by surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS)/resonance Rayleigh scattering (RRS)/fluorescence (FL)/absorption (Abs) quadruple-mode methods. The SERS determination range was 0.004-0.4 nmol L-1 MG, with a limit of detection of 0.0032 nM. In this way, a rapid, stable, and sensitive method for the determination of MG residues in the environment was established.

Determination of Pb2+ by Colorimetric Method Based on Catalytic Amplification of Ag Nanoparticles Supported by Covalent Organic Frameworks

In this paper, covalent organic frameworks (COFs) are prepared by solvothermal synthesis using 1,3,5-benzenetricarboxaldehyde and benzidine as ligands. Then, using COFs as a template, AgCOFs with high catalytic activity is prepared by in situ loading silver nanoparticles (AgNC) on the surface of COFs by sodium borohydride reduction method. AgCOFs are characterized by TEM, SEM, FTIR and XRD. At the same time, the catalytic ability of AgCOFs for trisodium citrate-AgNO₃ nanosilver reaction is studied. The results show that AgCOFs can catalyze the reaction of trisodium citrate-AgNO₃ to generate silver nanoparticles (AgNPs). The solution color of the system gradually changes from colorless to yellow, and the absorbance value increases. Based on the catalytic reaction of AgCOFs and the regulation effect of nucleic acid aptamer reaction on AgCOFs, a new "on-off-on" colorimetric analysis platform is constructed and applied to the detection of trace Pb²⁺ in water samples. This analytical platform is simple, sensitive and selective. Finally, the catalytic mechanism of the system is discussed to verify the feasibility of constructing a colorimetric analysis platform.
