Abstract
A heterogenized meso-tetrakis(2,3-dihydroxyphenyl)porphyrinatomanganese(III) acetate at zeolite imidazolate framework-8 (T(2,3-OHP)PorMn@ZIF-8) is investigated for the catalytic olefin epoxidation reactions at room temperature. Heterogenization is accomplished through a non-classical hydrogen bond proposed between T(2,3-OHP)PorMn bearing O–H groups and C–H of the 2-methylimidazolate linkers in the ZIF-8 structure. The aforementioned compound is characterized by X-ray powder diffraction (XRD), atomic absorption spectroscopy (AAS), nitrogen adsorption−desorption, FT-IR spectroscopy, field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and Raman spectroscopy. The catalytic system with rather high potential of reusability is proposed as a fairly efficient epoxidation catalyst compared to reports in homogeneous media.

Abstract
The mechanism of oxidative decarboxylation of phenylsulfinylacetic acids (PSAA) by oxo(salen)Cr(V)+ ion in the presence of ligand oxides has been studied spectrophotometrically in acetonitrile medium. Addition of ligand oxides (LO) causes a red shift in the λ max values of oxo(salen) complexes and an increase in absorbance with the concentration of LO along with a clear isobestic point. The reaction shows first-order dependence on oxo(salen)-chromium(V)+ ion and fractional-order dependence on PSAA and ligand oxide. Michaelis-Menten kinetics without kinetic saturation was observed for the reaction. The order of reactivity among the ligand oxides is picoline N-oxide > pyridine N-oxide > triphenylphosphine oxide. The low catalytic activity of TPPO was rationalized. Both electron-withdrawing and electron-donating substituents in the phenyl ring of PSAA facilitate the reaction rate. The Hammett plots are non-linear upward type with negative ρ value for electron-donating substituents, (ρ - = -0.740 to -4.10) and positive ρ value for electron-withdrawing substituents (ρ + = +0.057 to +0.886). Non-linear Hammett plot is explained by two possible mechanistic scenarios, electrophilic and nucleophilic attack of oxo(salen)chromium(V)+-LO adduct on PSAA as the substituent in PSAA is changed from electron-donating to electron-withdrawing. The linearity in the log k vs. E ox plot confirms single-electron transfer (SET) mechanism for PSAAs with electron-donating substituents.

Abstract
The stereo electronic effects as well as hydrogen bonding effects of imidazole, pyridine and 2,6-dimethylpyridine as N-donor axial ligands on the C–H oxidation activity of high-valent manganese(V)–oxo meso-tetraphenylporphyrin (TPP) and meso-tetrakis(pentaflourophenyl)porphyrin (TPFPP), are investigated by DFT calculations. The electronic and steric properties of axial donors and porphyrin ligands affected on the activation energy of cyclohexane hydroxylation as well as the Mn–O bond strength of the oxo species in transition state. Imidazole with the strong [Formula: see text]-donating ability and the least steric hindrance showed greater co-catalytic activity than those of pyridine and in particularly hindered 2,6-Me2 pyridine in the presence of simple [(TPP)MnO][Formula: see text]. Nevertheless, the C–H bond activation by hindered and electron-deficient perfluorinated catalyst [(TPFPP)MnO][Formula: see text] is in the order of pyridine >2, 6-Me2 pyridine >imidazole. AIM analysis showed hydrogen bonding (HB) between the C–H [Formula: see text] bonds of pyridine (C[Formula: see text]-H of ring) and 2,6-Me2Py (C[Formula: see text]-H of methyl groups) with ortho-C–F bond of phenyl rings of TPFPP in Mn[Formula: see text]O species (C–H…..F–C hydrogen bond) which might be responsible for this unusual behavior. These results are supported by natural bond orbital (NBO) analysis.

Abstract
The effect of different electronic and structural nitrogen donors (L) on the N ( ax )- Mn - O properties in the high valent manganese-oxo meso-tetraphenylporphyrin intermediate is investigated by the density functional B3LYP method with 6-31g* basis set. The geometric structures, frontier molecular orbitals, thermodynamic parameters and physical properties such as chemical potential and chemical hardness of [( TPP )( L ) MnO ]+ complexes in the gas phase as well as water solution are calculated. Our theoretical results confirm that the Mn - O distances in [( TPP )( L ) MnO ]+ species decrease by replacing imidazoles with pyridines, amins as well as electron-poor and hindered nitrogen donors resulting from extending the Mn – N ( ax ) bonds. These results are supported by vibrational frequencies, atoms in molecules (AIM) and natural bond orbital (NBO) analysis. It is worth mentioning that the co-catalytic activity trend of different nitrogen donors observed experimentally in the presence of title Mn porphyrin is consistent with the calculated Mn – N ( ax ) and Mn – O bond lengths in this work.

Abstract
Various nitrogenous bases, such as imidazoles, pyridines and amines were employed as axial ligands in epoxidation reaction of cyclooctene bytetra-n-butylammonium hydrogen monopersulfate (n- Bu 4 NHSO 5), in the presence of Mn ( III )-tetrakis(2,3-dimethoxyphenyl)porphyrin-acetate ( T (2,3- OMeP ) PorMnOAc ). T (2,3- OMeP ) PorMnOAc is a fairly stable catalyst, with the ability of producing hydrogen bonding. High epoxidation yield of 85 ± 6% was obtained in the presence of imidazole axial ligand with 100% selectivity in 30 min. Higher conversion of around 100% was obtained by pyridine axial base, while selectivity was reduced to 69%. Further epoxidation reactions were also performed using Mn ( III )-Tetrakis(2,3-dihydroxyphenyl)porphyrin-acetate ( T (2,3- OHP ) PorMnOAc ) as catalyst. In addition to the usual electronic and steric effects, it is proposed that the catalytic activity depends on the existence and kind of hydrogen bonding between the axial base and the ortho-methoxy or hydroxy groups on the phenyl rings of manganese porphyrin. The cis to trans ratio of cis-stilbene oxide formed by imidazole and pyridine axial bases were obtained as 7.5 and 2.5 respectively. In addition GC-Ms and UV-vis studies were employed to find the nature of active species and product formation. Our DFT calculations disclosed that pyridine hydrogen bonding with moiety of the macrocycle rings strongly affects the relative energies of S/Q spin states in [ T (2,3- OMeP ) PorMn V ( O )( Py )]+, in that it results in the longer Mn – O bond and reactivity toward substrates.

Abstract
Oxidation of olefins with tert-butyl hydroperoxide (TBHP), tetra-n-butylammonium periodate (TBAP) and potassium peroxomonosulfate (Oxone) in the presence of MCM-41 immobilized meso-tetra-4-carboxyphenylporphyrinatomanganese(III) acetate has been studied. The results of this study show better catalytic performance of the heterogonous catalyst using TBHP as oxidant in comparison with Oxone and TBAP in oxidation of the used olefins with the exception of cyclooctene. However, different order of reactivity of various olefins has been observed in the presence of Oxone and TBHP. In spite of the absence of good electron-withdrawing groups at the periphery of porphyrin ligand, the catalyst was recovered and reused (at least four times) without detectable catalyst leaching or a significant loss of the catalytic efficiency. All results have been obtained in the absence of using excess molar ratios of olefin to the oxidant, commonly employed as a strategy to overcome the instability of metalloporphyrins in oxidative conditions.

Abstract
The epoxidation of cis-stilbene by n-Bu4NHSO5 was studied in the presence of two different manganese porphyrin complexes, [MnTPFPP(Cl) and MnTPP(Cl)], and various n-Bu4NX (X = OAc, F, Cl, Br, OCN, NO3, BF4). In general direct correlation was found between stereoselectivity of the epoxidation reaction and the nucleophilic properties of these anionic co-catalysts. Also epoxidation of naphthalene was carried out in high yield and good selectivity by n-Bu4NHSO5 in the presence of MnTPFPP(Cl) in association with n-Bu4NOAc or n-Bu4NF co-catalysts.

Abstract
Raw kaolinite was modified with triethanolamine (TEA), in an attempt to create a new support for the immobilization of metalloporphyrins. Anionic metalloporphyrins containing Fe(3+) or Mn(3+) as metallic centers were immobilized on the prepared support, and the obtained solids were characterized by Fourier-transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, X-ray powder diffraction (XRPD), thermal analysis (thermogravimetric and differential thermal analyses--TGA/DTA), and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The solids were used in heterogeneous oxidation catalysis of cyclooctene and cyclohexane. The yields from the oxidation of cyclooctene depended on the amount of TEA and/or water present in the solids. Good reaction yields were obtained for the oxidation of cyclohexane, with selectivity for the alcohol. In one specific case, a possible co-catalytic activity was verified for TEA during the oxidation of cyclohexane.

Abstract
Effect of different reaction parameters on the catalytic activity of β-tetrabrominated meso-tetra(para-tolyl)porphyrinatomanganese(III), MnT(4-CH3P)PBr4(OAc) , for oxidation of different sulfides and hydrocarbons with tetra-n-butylammonium hydrogen monopersulfate (TBAHS) has been studied. In oxidation of sulfides, the chemoselectivity of reaction has been significantly changed in THF as the solvent compared with the common organic solvents. Also, using nitrogenous bases bearing electron-withdrawing groups ( -Cl or -CN ) clearly increased the ratio of sulfoxide to sulfone relative to the electron-donating ones. Catalytic oxidation of olefins with TBAHS was conducted in protic and aprotic solvents and acetonitrile has been found as the best solvent. A significantly large difference was found between the co-catalytic activity of imidazole (ImH) and pyridine in comparison with that observed in dichloromethane. The competitive oxidation of cis- and trans-stilbene suggests the presence of a high valent manganese oxo as well as a six coordinate (ImH)MnT(4-CH3P)PBr4(HSO5) species as the active oxidants in acetonitrile.

Abstract
Mn (III)-tetra phenyl porphyrin-acetate (MnTPPOAc) and some kinds of meso-phenyl substituted porphyrins by hydroxyl groups and their Mn (III) complexes were synthesized. These Mn -porphyrins were used as catalyst in the epoxidation of various alkenes with tetra-n-butylammonium hydrogen monopersulfate (n- Bu4NHSO5 ) as oxidant and tetra-n-butylammonium acetate (n- Bu4NOAc ) as the axial ligand. The following order of catalytic activity was observed for cyclooctene: T(2,3-OHP)PMnOAc ≫ T(2,4,6-OHP)PMnOAc ≥ T(4-OHP)PMnOAc ≥ T(2,6-OHP)PMnOAc ≥ TPPMnOAc and T(2,3-OHP)PMnOAc ≫ TPPMnOAc > T(4-OHP)PMnOAc > T(2,4,6-OHP)PMnOAc > T(2,6-OHP)PMnOAc for other alkenes. Different activity and stability of the catalysts were interpreted based on the hydrogen bonding between hydroxyl groups with appropriate orientation on the meso-position of the phenyl groups and axial bases or oxidant. T(2,3-OHP)PMnOAc catalyst has shown optimal condition for effective hydrogen bonding. In the case of other catalysts, electronic and steric factors overcome the hydrogen bonding effect.

Abstract
TPPMnOAc and four different kinds of manganese tetraphenylporphyrin acetates were synthesized using different numbers of methoxy substituents in various positions of the phenyl rings. These porphyrins were used as catalysts in the epoxidation of various alkenes with tetra-n-butylammonium hydrogen monopersulfate (n- Bu 4 NHSO 5) as the oxidant and imidazole as the axial base. The following order of catalytic activity was obtained: TPPMnOAc ≥ T (2,3- OMeP ) PMnOAc > T (4- OMeP ) PMnOAc > T (3,4- OMeP ) PMnOAc > T (2,4,6- OMeP ) PMnOAc . By studying the UV-vis spectra in the reaction solution, the stability of the applied methoxy porphyrins and the effect of this factor on obtained yields were investigated. Lower catalytic activity in some of the methoxy porphyrins emphasized steric effects and special hydrogen bonding among the reaction elements. However, the stability of T (2,3- OMeP ) PMnOAc under our reaction condition was considerable and high activity was observed. By adding small amounts of alcohol to the reaction solution, the effect of the solvent mixture was previewed and steps were taken to identify the active intermediate of the catalyst in these conditions.
