Abstract
We report a visible-light induced redox-neutral decarboxylative cross coupling reaction of indole-3-acetic acid NHPI esters with indoles using a Ru photosensitizer to deliver a wide range of symmetrical and unsymmetrical 3,3'-bisindolylmethane derivatives. Furthermore, the reaction is readily adapted to the preparation of a wide variety of diarylmethane derivatives.

Abstract
The catalytic esterification of free fatty acids is an important reaction pathway for chemical synthesis and biodiesel production, wherein efficient heterogeneous catalysts are sought to replace mineral acids. Herein, the esterification of oleic acid together with some familiar fatty acids is demonstrated with methanol over a heterogeneous heteropolyacid-functionalized zeolite imidazolate framework [H6-n P2W18O62 n-/ZIF(H n His.)+n ]. This new heterogeneous catalyst (named as HPA/ZIF(His.) throughout the text) with an average particle size of 80 nm was prepared via condensation of histamine with zinc chloride and characterized by means of Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR), X-ray diffraction (XRD), UV-vis, energy-dispersive X-ray spectrometry, Brunauer-Emmett-Teller, thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), inductively coupled plasma - optical emission spectrometry (ICP-OES), and scanning electron microscopy. According to the performed characterizations, an HPA loading of 40.5 wt % is obtained for HPA/ZIF(His.) from ICP-OES analysis. Moreover, a typical type-IV isotherm with similar adsorption-desorption properties as seen for ZIF-8 is attained. In addition, TGA measurement confirms less stability of HPA/ZIF(His.) compared to that of pure ZIF(His.). The catalytic performance of the nanomaterial is evaluated with respect to temperature, catalyst loading, and methanol/oleic acid ratio and leads to a high yield of methyl ester (>90%) under reflux for 4 h. The preliminary kinetic studies confirm a pseudo-first-order kinetic model for the esterification of oleic acid. To explore the scope of the HPA/ZIF(His.) catalyst in methyl ester production, other free fatty acids with various chain lengths are also successfully tested. Although the nanocatalyst loses a part of its activity during reuse, however, it is stable over at least four recycles as confirmed by XRD and FT-IR. Eventually, the response surface methodology (RSM) is used as a statistical modeling approach to get the best-optimized reaction conditions compared to the performed single-variable benchmarking experiments. Therefore, the central composite design (CCD) and RSM attained a platform to determine the relationship among the reaction time, acid/methanol molar ratio, and catalyst dosage.

Abstract
Herein we describe the high yield synthesis of a highly crystalline cobalt(ii) MOF with a novel zwitterionic ligand made up of 3,3',4,4'-BPTC and 1,4-cyclohexanediamine, obtained in situ during the hydrothermal synthesis. The compound with the molecular formula C46H38N4O14Co·2H2O has a molecular mass of 965.7783 g mol-1, a triclinic crystalline system (a = 5.86 Å, b = 9.28 Å, c = 19.92 Å, α = 83.93°, β = 88.01°, γ = 78.59), it is thermally stable up to 300 °C and presents structural stability before and after removing the solvent molecules from its pores. This novel material showed catalytic properties in an electrophilic substitution reaction of indoles and aldehydes allowing the syntheses of bis(indolyl)methanes in high yields under mild reaction conditions and can be reused at least once with the same catalytic activity.

Abstract
A novel approach for the catalyzed formation of bisindolylmethane derivatives (BIMs) is described. This methodology is the unique example where AgOTf has been successfully used for the activation of aldehydes, giving easy access to a broad range of bisindolyl derivatives with excellent results. Moreover, the simplicity and easy operational methodology using a small amount of commercially available AgOTf (1-3 mol %), one of the lowest catalytic charge used in this process to date, makes this procedure an alternative approach for this interesting and appealing reaction.

Abstract
A novel magnetic inorganic-organic nanohybrid material H6P2W18O62/pyridino-Fe3O4 (HPA/TPI-Fe3O4) was fabricated and performed as an efficient, eco-friendly, and highly recyclable catalyst for the solvent-free, one-pot, and multi-component synthesis of various substituted 1-amidoalkyl-2-naphthols from the reaction of β-naphthol, an aldehyde, and benzamide with good to excellent yields (47-94%) and in a short span of time (25-60 min). The nanohybrid catalyst was prepared by the chemical anchoring of Wells-Dawson heteropolyacid H6P2W18O62 onto the surface of modified Fe3O4 nanoparticles with N-[3-(triethoxysilyl)propyl]isonicotinamide (TPI) linker. The magnetically recoverable catalyst was easily recycled at least eight times without any loss of catalytic activity. XRD, TEM, UV-vis, and FTIR confirmed that the heteropolyacid H6P2W18O62 is well dispersed on the surface of the solid support and its structure is retained after immobilization on the pyridine modified Fe3O4 nanoparticles. This protocol is developed as a safe and convenient alternate method for the synthesis of 1-amidoalkyl-2-naphthols utilizing an eco-friendly, and a highly reusable catalyst.

Abstract
An overview of the recent advances in the field of polyoxometalate, ionic liquid hybrids, is proposed with a special attention paid to their application in catalysis, more precisely biphasic and heterogeneous catalysis. Both components of the hybrids are separately outlined pointing to their useful properties and potential for catalysis, followed by the description of the hybrids preparation and synergy between components in a large range of organic transformations. And finally a vision on the future developments is proposed.
