Abstract
Cellulose is an eco-friendly, efficient, and suitable substrate for use as a coating material and support in the preparation of catalysts. Herein, MNP–cellulose–OSO3H was prepared as an efficient heterogeneous catalyst composed of Fe3O4 nanoparticles covered with cellulose–OSO3H and used for the synthesis of trisubstituted imidazoles. The catalyst was characterized by FT-IR, CHNS, ICP, PXRD, EDAX, elemental mapping, SEM, TEM, zeta potential, TGA, and VSM techniques. The catalytic activity was evaluated in the one-pot three-component synthesis of trisubstituted imidazole derivatives using benzil or 9,10-phenanthrenequinone, different aldehydes, and ammonium acetate in EtOH solvent at 80 °C over 30 min. The yields of products were excellent, in the range 83–97%. The catalyst showed outstanding catalytic performance toward heating conditions and good reusability. Also, this methodology had several advantages, such as simple procedures, short reaction time, excellent yield, simple workup, and mild reaction conditions. Cellulose is an eco-friendly, efficient, and suitable substrate for use as a coating material and support in the preparation of catalysts.![]()

Abstract
Phenanthroimidazole-thiadiazole hybrid derivatives, which are new heterocyclic compounds with fluorescence properties, were synthesized by designing a two-step reaction mechanism and their photophysical properties were investigated. The synthesized derivatives were purified and their structures were elucidated by ATR-IR, 1H-NMR, elemental analysis and HR-MS methods. In the next stage of the study, the absorption and emission spectra of the synthesized new phenanthroimidazole-thiadiazole hybrid derivatives were determined by UV-Vis and fluorescence spectroscopy. Stokes' shifts, molar extinction coefficients (ε), singlet energy levels (Es), quantum yield (ϕf), lifetimes (τ), the radiative (kr) and the nonradiative (knr) constant for new hybrid derivatives were measured in DMSO. In addition, aggregation measurements, which is an important parameter that changes the photophysical properties were performed and for these compounds, structure: photophysical properties were discussed.

Abstract
A series of six new, bidentate ligands based on N-(2-(R-sulfonamido)benzyl)R-sulfonamide have been isolated as dianionic or monoanionic chelators via condensation of 2-(aminomethyl)aniline with sulfonyl chloride reagents; R=methyl (1 and 1′), tolyl (2 and 2′), 2,4,6-trimethylphenyl (3), or 2,4,6-triisopropylphenyl (4). Complexes of ligands 2–4 reacted at room temperature with palladium(ii) acetate in the presence of various monodentate N-donor co-ligands to form complexes Pd2(2dmap), Pd2′(OAc.py), Pd3(2acn), Pd3(2py), Pd4(2acn), and Pd4(2py), which were structurally confirmed by three X-ray crystal analyses. Results of catalysis studies in water showed high turnover frequencies and yields of up to 98% within 10min and at 0.2 mol-% palladium catalyst loading. Relative to ligand-free catalysis in the presence of only Pd(OAc)2, the ligand-supported palladium species clearly possess positive catalytic advantage. Furthermore, Suzuki coupling efficiencies by 1:1 ‘Pd(OAc)2+ligand’ yielded notably better outcomes than for the 1:2 ‘Pd(OAc)2+ligand’ insitu catalyst generation, which reveals that coordinative saturation is undesirable. The size of the complementing monodentate co-ligand was observed to influence the catalytic efficiency such that bulkier co-ligands consistently yielded improved turnover frequency values, which leads to the conclusion that steric repulsion between the synthesised ligands and the bulkier co-ligands aided the generation of vacant coordination sites for the more active complexes. Moderate Heck coupling activity was recorded for the complexes and better activities appear to correlate with moderate bulkiness of ligand 3.

Abstract
An efficient one-pot synthesis of a series of diversely functionalized trisubstituted 4(5)het(aroyl)-2,5(4)-het(aryl)/alkylimidazoles from readily available 1,3-bishet(aryl)monothio-1,3-diketones has been reported. This novel sequential one-pot, three step protocol, wherein three new carbon nitrogen bonds are formed in contiguous fashion, involves in situ generation of enaminones by reaction of monothio-1,3-diketones with α-substituted methylamines, followed by their α-nitrosation with sodium nitrite and subsequent base mediated intramolecular heterocyclization of the resulting α-hydroxyiminoimines to trisubstituted imidazoles in high yields under mild conditions. These newly prepared 4(5)-het(aroyl)-5(4)-het(aryl)/alkylimidazoles are shown to exist as tautomeric mixture, however, their subsequent alkylation with methyl iodide in the presence of potassium carbonate affords 1-N-methy-2,5-bishet(aryl)-4-het(aroyl)imidazoles in highly regioselective fashion in most of the cases. Synthesis of few 4(5)-(2-hydroxyphenyl)-2,5(4)-substituted imidazoles, which are known to be good coordinating ligands, has also been reported. A probable mechanism for the formation of these imidazoles from hydroxyiminoimine intermediates has also been suggested.
