Abstract
Medium- and long-chain structured lipids (MLSLs) rich in docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) were obtained in shorter reaction time by acidolysis of single-cell oil (DHASCO) from Schizochytrium sp. with caprylic acid (CA) using a lipase bioimprinted with fatty acids as a catalyst. The conditions for preparation of the bioimprinted lipase for the acidolysis reaction were firstly optimized and the activity of the obtained lipase was 2.17 times higher than that of the non-bioimprinted. The bioimprinted lipase was then used as a catalyst and the reaction conditions were optimized. Under the optimal conditions, the equilibrium could be achieved in 4 h, and the total and sn-1,3 CA contents in the product were 29.18% and 42.34%, respectively, and the total and sn-2 DHA contents were 46.26% and 70.12%, respectively. Such MLSLs rich in sn-1,3 CA and sn-2 DHA are beneficial for DHA absorption, and thus have potential for use in infant formula.

Abstract
Lipases are very versatile enzymes because they catalyze various hydrolysis and synthesis reactions in a chemo-, regio-, and stereoselective manner. From a practical point of view, immobilization allows the recovery and stabilization of the biocatalyst for its application in different types of bioreactors. Among the various support options for immobilizing lipases is polyvinyl alcohol (PVA), which, when functionalized or combined with other materials, provides different characteristics and properties to the biocatalyst. This review analyzes the multiple possibilities that PVA offers as a material to immobilize lipases when combined with alginate, chitosan, and hydroxypropylmethylcellulose (HPMC), incorporating magnetic properties together with the formation of fibers and microspheres. The articles analyzed in this review were selected using the Scopus database in a range of years from 1999 to 2023, finding a total of 42 articles. The need to expand knowledge in this area is due to the great versatility and scaling possibilities that PVA has as a support for lipase immobilization and its application in different bioreactor configurations.

Abstract
Enzymatic esterification of resveratrol is crucial for its potential application in lipophilic foods and drugs. However, the poor activity of the free enzyme hinders the reaction. In this work, the highly efficient enzymatic synthesis of resveratrol ester derivatives was achieved by immobilized lipase on hydrophobic modified hollow mesoporous silicon spheres (HMSS-C8). We preliminarily explored the use of Candida sp. 99-125 lipase (CSL) for the acylation of resveratrol, with a regioselectivity toward 3-OH- over 4'-OH-acylation. HMSS-C8 provided ideal accommodation for CSL with a loading capacity of up to 652 mg/g. The catalytic efficiency of CSL@HMSS-C8 was 15 times higher than that of free CSL, and the conversion of resveratrol reached 98.7% within only 2 h, which is the fastest value recorded in the current literature. After 10 cycles, the conversion remained up to 86.3%. Benefiting from better lipid solubility, the relative oxidation stability index values of oil containing monoester derivatives were 43.1%-68.8% and 23.9%-33.2% higher than that of refined oil and oil containing resveratrol, respectively. This research provides a new pathway for efficient enzymatic synthesis of resveratrol ester derivatives and demonstrates the potential application of resveratrol monoester derivatives as a group of excellent lipid-soluble antioxidants.

Abstract
Immobilization is practical to upgrade enzymes, increasing their performance and expanding their applications. The recombinant, solvent tolerant lipase LipA PSA01 from Pseudomonas aeruginosa was immobilized on polypropylene Accurel® MP1004 to improve its performance. We investigated the effect of ethanol as an additive during the immobilization process at three concentrations (20%, 25%, and 30%) on the operational behavior of the enzyme. The immobilization efficiency was higher than 92%, and the immobilized enzymes showed hyperactivation and thermal resistance depending on the concentration of ethanol. For example, at 70 °C, the free enzyme lost the activity, while the prepared one with ethanol 25% conserved a residual activity of up to 73.3% (∆ T15 50 = 27.1 °C). LipA immobilized had an optimal pH value lower than that of the free enzyme, and the organic solvent tolerance of the immobilized enzymes depended on the ethanol used. Hence, the immobilized enzyme with ethanol 25% showed hyperactivation to more solvents than the soluble enzyme. Remarkable stability towards methanol (up to 8 folds) was evidenced in all the immobilized preparations. The immobilized enzyme changed their chemo preference, and it hydrolyzed oils preferentially with short-chain than those with long-chain. LipA had a notable shelf-life after one year, keeping its activity up to 87%. Ethanol facilitated the access of the enzyme to the hydrophobic support and increased its activity and stability according to the amount of ethanol added.

Abstract
This study defines the lipase immobilization protocol and enzymatic kinetic resolution of 1-phenyl ethanol with the use of immobilized lipases (LI) as a biocatalyst. Commercially available lipase Candida antarctica B (Cal-B) was immobilized onto graphene oxide (GO), iron oxide (Fe3O4) nanoparticles, and graphene oxide/iron oxide (GO/Fe3O4) nanocomposites. Characterization of pure and enzyme-loaded supports was carried out by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy. The influences of pH, temperature, immobilization time, crosslinker concentration, glutaraldehyde (GLA), epichlorohydrin (EPH), and surfactant concentrations (Tween 80 and Triton X-100) on the catalytic activity were evaluated for these three immobilized biocatalysts. The highest immobilized enzyme activities were 15.03 U/mg, 14.72 U/mg, and 13.56 U/mg for GO-GLA-CalB, Fe3O4-GLA-CalB, and GO/Fe3O4-GLA-CalB, respectively. Moreover, enantioselectivity and reusability of these immobilized lipases were compared for the kinetic resolution of 1-phenyl ethanol, using toluene as organic solvent and vinyl acetate as acyl donor. The highest values of enantiomeric excess (ees = 99%), enantioselectivity (E = 507.74), and conversion (c = 50.73%) were obtained by using lipase immobilized onto graphene oxide (GO-GLA-CalB). It was obtained that this enzymatic process may be repeated five times without important loss of enantioselectivity.

Abstract
Janus amphiphilic particles have gained much attention for their important application value in areas as diverse as interfacial modification, sensors, drug delivery, optics, and actuators. In this work, we prepared Janus amphiphilic nanosheets composed of nitrogen-doped stratiform meso-macroporous carbons (NMC) and molybdenum sulfide (MoS2) for hydrophilic and hydrophobic sides, respectively. The dicyandiamide and glucose were used as precursors for synthesizing two-dimensional nitrogen-doped meso-macroporous carbons, and the molybdate could be anchored by the functional groups on the surface of carbon layers and then transform into uniformly MoS2 to form the Janus amphiphilic layer by layer NMC/MoS2 support. Transmission electron microscopy, scanning electron microscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy are used to demonstrate the successful preparation of Janus materials. As the typical interfacial enzyme, Candida rugosa lipase (CRL) immobilized on the Janus amphiphilic NMC/MoS2 support brought forth to improvement of its performance because the Janus nanosheets can be easily attached on the oil-aqueous interface for better catalytic activity (interfacial activation of lipases). The obtained immobilized lipase (NMC/MoS2@CRL) exhibited satisfactory lipase loading (193.1 mg protein per g), specific hydrolytic activity (95.76 U g-1), thermostability (at 55 °C, 84% of the initial activity remained after 210 min), pH flexibility, and recyclability (60% of the initial activity remained after nine runs). In terms of its application, the esterification rate of using NMC/MoS2@CRL (75%) is higher than those of NMC@CRL (20%) and MoS2@CRL (11.8%) in the "oil-water" biphase and CRL as well as NMC/MoS2@CRL in the one-phase. Comparing with the free CRL, NMC@CRL, and MoS2@CRL, the Janus amphiphilic NMC/MoS2 served as a carrier that exhibited more optimal performance and practicability.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Immobilization of enzymes onto different carriers increases enzyme's stability and reusability within biotechnological and pharmaceutical applications. However, some immobilization techniques are associated with loss of enzymatic specificity and/or activity. Possible reasons for this loss are mass transport limitations or structural changes. For this reason an immobilization method must be selected depending on immobilisate's demands. In this work different immobilization media were compared towards the synthetic and hydrolytic activities of immobilized trypsin as model enzyme on magnetic micro-particles. RESULTS Porcine trypsin immobilization was carried out in organic and aqueous media with magnetic microparticles. The immobilization conditions in organic solvent were optimized for a peptide synthesis reaction. The highest carrier activity was achieved at 1 % of water (v/v) in dioxane. The resulting immobilizate could be used over ten cycles with activity retention of 90 % in peptide synthesis reaction in 80 % (v/v) ethanol and in hydrolysis reaction with activity retention of 87 % in buffered aqueous solution. Further, the optimized method was applied in peptide synthesis and hydrolysis reactions in comparison to an aqueous immobilization method varying the protein input. The dioxane immobilization method showed a higher activity coupling yield by factor 2 in peptide synthesis with a maximum activity coupling yield of 19.2 % compared to aqueous immobilization. The hydrolysis activity coupling yield displayed a maximum value of 20.4 % in dioxane immobilization method while the aqueous method achieved a maximum value of 38.5 %. Comparing the specific activity yields of the tested immobilization methods revealed maximum values of 5.2 % and 100 % in peptide synthesis and 33.3 % and 87.5 % in hydrolysis reaction for the dioxane and aqueous method, respectively. CONCLUSIONS By immobilizing trypsin in dioxane, a beneficial effect on the synthetic trypsin activity resilience compared to aqueous immobilization medium was shown. The results indicate a substantial potential of the micro-aqueous organic protease immobilization method for preservation of enzymatic activity during enzyme coupling step. These results may be of substantial interest for enzymatic peptide synthesis reactions at mild conditions with high selectivity in industrial drug production.

Abstract
The purpose of the present work is improving stability properties of porcine pancreatic lipase (triacylglycerol lipase, E.C.3.1.1.3) by immobilization on chitosan/TiO2 composite beads. The immobilization parameters were initial enzyme concentration (0.5-2 mg/ml), adsorption time (5-25 min), and glutaraldehyde concentration (1-4 % v/v). The optimum temperature (20-60 °C), optimum pH (3.0-10.0), kinetic parameters, thermal stability (4-70 °C), pH stability (4.0-9.0), and reusability (9 times) were investigated for characterization of immobilized lipase system. The optimum temperatures of free and immobilized lipase were 30 °C. The temperature profile of the immobilized lipase was spread over a large area. The optimum pH values for the free lipase and immobilized lipase were found to be 6.5 and 7.5, respectively. The thermal stability of immobilized lipase was evaluated, and it maintained 45 % activity at 70 °C. But, at this temperature, soluble lipase protected only 15 % activity. Also, the structural characterization of chitosan/TiO2 composite beads was analyzed with scanning electron microscope (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), thermal gravimetric analysis (TGA), and attenuated total reflection Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy analysis (ATR-FTIR). The significance of this study is improving of stability properties of lipase for the industrial usage especially production of biodiesel and dairy products.
